Indeed, a superb Ghazal Gayeki by Mehdi Hassan, the GREAT. The name of Raga is: "AHEERI TODI" The musical note "GANDHAR" is KOMAL (soft) and not "TEEVAR" (Sharp). Using Gandhar as teevar, becomes "AHEER BHAIRON". This is technical aspect of Raga, for the YouTube members, who are interested. Great Ghazal Singer Specially Classical ghazal. Kitna bhi suno Jee nahin bherta. Classical singing that too in ghazals is very very difficult but Mehdi Hassan is very fond of this. Thanks rahmankant for uploading this gem.....nobody can match Mehdi Hasan sahib the way he sung this ghazal....its just not a single raag, rather a combination of a few, which Mehdi Hasan only can do....may Allah give him good health. The poet is Khatir Ghaznavi, who hailed from Peshawar. The lyrics are:

To my technical knowledge in classical muisc & it's composition, referring to Mehdi Hassan comment, the name of this Raga is: "AHEERI TODI" Detail: The "Teevar Gandhaar" of Raga AHEER BHAIRON has been used as "Komal Gandhaar". The rest of the Raga composition is the same. Mehdi Hassan is right, it is very LESS used, due to it's application. No body like the great MEHDI HASSAN, as Ghazal Gaeeki is concerned. In the presnet age, the new pop singers has made music with out any meaning. Mostly depend on video and not their singing capacity. @KhalidAsgharRadioPak Khan sahib has reflected the same art in a large number of his live performances. But this one, no doubt is one of golden performances. As he began singing, he said that he is going to sing from the depth of his heart and that he did. He wanted to show those people sitting before him whats his scope. I am sure even those who were present couldnt really understand what they were watching because it takes many times of listening to this to get to its real depth.
