Thanks for the advice people but this was uploaded in 2009 :P This horse I have since retierd now and I don't jump anymore but do other types of competeing. He is/was a fantastic horse as you all can tell he was is special to me even though he is not being ridden anymore.
Good Job! just try to get off your horse's back, and i know that can be a little difficult with a large jump like that. and btw i know tons of oldies that can jump that high happily so keep up the awesome work! :)
i jumped bareback without a bridle once, you did it realy nicely, unlike i did, i must have landed too far back or something and my pony started Bucking :P xx
@xTeachMeToRidex whats sandschool??? and ...but,ur holding rope or something i can see it around the horses neck/withers and u grabbed it going over the jumpo
@ctrently yeah there's a rope hut that doesn't replace the bridle, it's so she has some support over a higher jump, teres no controll over his mouth like the bridle gives though..
You ride GREAT!!! I'm just saying, I understand you have no support but the reason why your horse threw his neck around is because you landed o his back hard, but hey, you can't help it(: great job-3
Sweet riding, I love to do that. I'm glad to see someone who has the sense to wear a helmet when doing this. For everyone else out there, riding without tack is awesome if you can do it right, riding without safety gear is dangerous and stupid, not trick riding.
Do you take care of the horses feet regularly? how about his teeth? How about grooming bathing clipping etc. These are things you should do regularly to maintain a horses wellbeing. how do you know the horse is in shape and ready to do this type of work? have you built his strength up, exercised regularly? I don't think so, how would you like it if i pulled you off the couch to run 10 miles? No warning, no advance training, and you hadn't bathed or had a haircut in 10 yrs, and teeth hurt.!
theres a horse at my yard, he's 25 & still happily without being 'forced' to jumps open height.
the girl in the video isnt wearing spurs, kicking him REALLY hard, whipping him or FORCING him to jump it.
look closely she has NO control at all, if she has no control then he cant be forced to do anything, and even going into the jump, there is nothing to stop the horse running out, he couldve ran out if he wanted but he didnt, he has his ears forward & is clearly wanting to jump!
@cjaros100 Im sorry but, HOW CAN YOU TELL THROUGH A VIDEO???? unless you have friggen magical powrs to see that horse's teeth and can talk to that horse through a video, you can just assume... now I do agree that the horse looks dirty and the girl should have 2-pointed but I'm pretty positive you cant tell if that horse's teeth hurts him
amazing horse & rider... im such a failure at bareback.. i had my first lesson the other day and i couldnt trot... xD it was just pure painful xD cantering was okay though :L
@icecreamwithcherries if you're going to "critique" her, you might as well tell her WHAT'S wrong, instead of sounding whiny and conceited. @newzealandgal74, I think this looks awesome :) your pony rocks!
@NaturalHorsemanship9 ok you know what if your gonna talk like like that, then go bug off to you you tube channel, who cares if its a rope around the neck, a rope is not a bridle. SO WHAT!! on another note I thought it was awesome!! love the song, what is it called?
@icecreamwitcherries I would like to see you jump a jump with no saddle or bridle with just a bit of rope and with perfect eq. So you have no right to crit, esp as you dont have any videos on your account. I bet thats what you do all day, critisise people just to make you feel good about yourself, you are just jealous as you cant do half of the things that this girl can do so keep your trap shut. thanks.
2: she is leaning forward slightly at the end becuase of the force
3: Have you tried jumping that height bareback? so she is doing amazing its a very hard thing to do...
And before you say anything I have 6 horses and one foal and i have ridden my naughty 17hh thoroughbred bareback in his field with no helmet and cantering so i know what I'm talking about.
@icecreamwitcherries I love how there's always that person who critiques the amazing rider in the video, just because they know they could never do the same, and they need to fell better about themselves. Congratulations, you are that person.
oh shot !!! Have u tried a small jump yet? Just remember to build your way up but dont be afraid to try new things, i didnt think i could ever do that jump but sophie made me and now i can do it heaps of times and its so easy and great fun,
Yup, the higher you have the rope up the horses neck the more control you have, so if you pull on the rope on one side to turn her neck and she doesnt respond well, move the rope higher up until she does. After while you will be able to have it quite low and get good responces.
Dang it i wish my pony as bigger so i could jump high........ oh well hehe

yeah i did a few lil jumps about 2ft but shes only 12hh and not a confident jumper but ill try... have you got any tips on steering? haha
myponiesrule123 2 years ago
Yup, the higher you have the rope up the horses neck the more control you have, so if you pull on the rope on one side to turn her neck and she doesnt respond well, move the rope higher up until she does. After while you will be able to have it quite low and get good responces.
