After the lines, "கொஞ்சம் பாருங்க பெண்குயில் நானுங்க," 3:41-3:52, the great Sivaji Ganesan gives a look hoping it is Radha, and when he recognizes her face, he's happy and lets a smile out of his lips before uttering the next lines. Superb.
Radha's best movie; Janaki's best song; I'd even say that this is Bharthiraja's best work. This song comes at a right time in the movie and a lot of the story is told in the song. Great work and I like this song a lot because I can remember where I was when I first heard this song or when I first saw the movie. Thanks for the memories!
Fantastic melody. Any musicians of today including rajman must have been grown up humming IR music. Another giant in music industry to mention is TMS. He hadn't received the credit he deserves.
To sum it up, it is a classic tale of age versus emotions/feelings.....They are both unsure of acceptance on either side due to the differences dividing them.. He is questioning her and she replies and it continues both ways.. It goes from reasoning to justification, to skepticism... The endgame is what they are looking for..to find love unconditionally.. Their love transcends all rules of physical attraction and they are already bonded via verse...spiritually..mentally..etc..
MGR became a politician and shivaji remained true to hs art. Such a risky gambit to make a movie like this for a hero in his late 70's early 80's who is revered and respected..a failure would be epic and career destroying for all parties involved..
MGR is a social champion. A truly humbling figure who had the love of the commonfolk and lived up to it to the end. A man who will walk in the slums of Madras, he never had a bulletproof vest or a massive entourage that is common with politics today.

Terrific song. Released in 1985. American College (Madurai) male student sang this one in GCT Coimbatore as both male and female. Outstanding effort by Malaysia Vasudevan and the one and only S. Janaki. Great composition by Ilayaraja!

This is the first indian movie screened in Japan, where it received 5* rave comments. Japanese girls ( and guys too, i guess) cried watching this movie.( of course translated). Only after this breakthrough, movies like Muthu and others could the attention of Japanese.

After the lines, "கொஞ்சம் பாருங்க பெண்குயில் நானுங்க," 3:41-3:52, the great Sivaji Ganesan gives a look hoping it is Radha, and when he recognizes her face, he's happy and lets a smile out of his lips before uttering the next lines. Superb.

Radha's best movie; Janaki's best song; I'd even say that this is Bharthiraja's best work. This song comes at a right time in the movie and a lot of the story is told in the song. Great work and I like this song a lot because I can remember where I was when I first heard this song or when I first saw the movie. Thanks for the memories!

To sum it up, it is a classic tale of age versus emotions/feelings.....They are both unsure of acceptance on either side due to the differences dividing them.. He is questioning her and she replies and it continues both ways.. It goes from reasoning to justification, to skepticism... The endgame is what they are looking for..to find love unconditionally.. Their love transcends all rules of physical attraction and they are already bonded via verse...spiritually..mentally..etc..

I think MGR made a bigger contribution to Tamil culture and politics, considering I am Sri Lankan Tamil, but Shivaji is a legend.

MGR became a politician and shivaji remained true to hs art. Such a risky gambit to make a movie like this for a hero in his late 70's early 80's who is revered and respected..a failure would be epic and career destroying for all parties involved..
MGR is a social champion. A truly humbling figure who had the love of the commonfolk and lived up to it to the end. A man who will walk in the slums of Madras, he never had a bulletproof vest or a massive entourage that is common with politics today.
