I don't know what it is, fantasia's voice isn't horrible but i just don't like it. I think Diana had the better voice but obviously Kelly set the bar a little too high for following season winners. I mean the only one that comes close range and popularity wise i think was Carrie. and even then Carrie is somewhat at a disadvantage cuz she does have that country tone, which makes it harder for her to be as versatile as Kelly in different genres which makes it hard for her to sell worldwide

depends on your def. of doing more. Carrie's opened up country to a younger/newer audience, but then again so has Taylor. Kelly hasn't done this I agree, but pop is such a broad genre in the 1st place it would be hard to do this. Kelly has however pushed the envelope more so than many other artists. She doesn't sit still in one genre she crosses over into almost every one and writes many of her #1 hits which Carrie hasn't done..yet. and Kelly gave AI the credibility it needed for following yrs

@EvFan1985 don't forget, she won over classic hitters like sheryll crow and bonnie rieght as well. carrie will win over a lot of the country performers because of her voice. but to be honest, she has no artistic value other than that. kelly has more controll and has fought for her right as a song writer to not only write her own songs but to record them and perform them the way she wants to. Not on how the lable would perfer.
