I remember playing this in the 6th grade. My school had pretty much all of the Maxis Sim games because they were supposed to be "educational" but I never knew what the hell to do.

And then Sim City 3000 came out and all the wealthy kids starting gloating because they had their own computers and stuff and we were stuck playing the outdated games like SimAnt...

This game was so fun! The only flaw was its mildly difficulty learning curve when it came to understanding the menus.

Maybe it was just because I was a kid at the time... but it would be so fun to play today, updated as a cheap little $10 downloadable.

This game is monotonous but it's a lot of fun...if you ever wanted to have an ant simulation. I wish there'd be an ant game, but with more strategical, open-ended gameplay.

Question, what kind of computer did you play this on? I recently purchased Sim Ant but my computer is a Windows 7 and can't run it because apparently it is too advanced... Is it possible to run it on XP or anything? I appreciate anyone's help

Download DOSBox. There's a little bit of a learning curve to using the program but once you figure out the basics you'll be in heaven. It's capable of running these old games flawlessly on just about any system.

I think the sound was good for me because I had a CD version maybe, and I assume there was a floppy version with crap sound. Assuming most people are running off dosbox, kinda sucks that the CD version seems less common than the floppy version, assuming that's what the issue is.

you just click on your ant and a list of options should show up. you click on exchange and then find the spider and click on him

@soulstealer18 yeah i remember as a kid my strategy was to change to the spider to kill a ton of red ants, then go back to the colony to go collect food or something.

On another note though, it sounds like the sound hasn't been configured optimally, because it sounds pretty terrible compared to when I played it on my old 386. The music to rally ants was especially good as far as I remember in my version.

Tips: I quess in 1:32 you must go longer way spider is very sharp. And this game is 4 enemys: spider: looking and walking around but run really fast antlion: not move but do fake anthills they looking sharper color than your hills. Human: This one can walk for you or use lawn mower to kill you (for accident) Red ants: These are your main enemys they can attack your hill or you can attack they hill they doesent are faster than spider but attack you when they see you.
