@LordSirpiko Just because atheist reject your beliefs doesn't mean they have their own set. Nobody claims that we are the pinnacle of universal evolution, and FYI the two theories on amount of dimensions are 10 and 26 not 14. Ignorance does spread like cancer, but atheism is what stops religion from spreading it.
@LordSirpiko Fair enough, I did not mention M Theory. That still does not address my other three points, one of which is that science encourages pushing the boundaries of human knowledge forward. Religion has always sought to keep the masses in the dark. If it were up to the church the bible would still be in Latin and the majority would still be unwashed and illiterate.
"If you have faith in yourself, you can convince yourself that you will survive and overcome. If you have faith in someone who controls you, then you will always be afraid to die"
@josephavenetti Actually.... the military is kinda notorious for going to other places and doing the attacking, what with the bombs and all. Also, Jesus did kinda preach the whole "turn the other cheek" thing. Immediate self-defense doesn't require invading somebody's country with guns and tanks and jets and staying there for several years. Just saying it's not the most Christian place in the world.
As mad as it's made my wife, I've began teaching our children that god and jesus and exactly the same as the tooth fairy, santa claus and the easter bunny. Fairy tales to scare and amuse children. @AlexWerkmeister712 Well no one can 'research' the proof of God's existence, that's impossible by any man.
And you don't believe he is real? Look up in the sky at night. See those millions of stars, planets and galaxies? Yeah, God made that, NOT science(made by man).
God was made by man. God is just a lazy excuse for why everything is here.
Do we really know what created the earth, (or in the Big Bang theory, what created that first gene)?
No, of course we don't, but to accept such a simple, ignorant answer such as, "God did it." is ridiculous.
Also, no, you can't research God's existence, because it doesn't exist. That's like saying you can't research unicorns or the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

@AdiG1 Stop trolling dude. We did not spawn here like the bullshit in Call of duty. I'm very sure there is a reason humanity exists on this planet, not for wars and conspiracies.
Also, life on this planet doesn't have a reason to exist, nor should it need to. Wars and conspiracies are both man-made things, neither relevant to any kind of "meaning of life".
I agree, but a good combination of both can help you go much further in life than just having one of the two!
You don't need religion for morals. In fact, many bible quotes are very amoral and--dare I say--evil, in some cases.
In my opinion, if you need the threat of an all-knowing being watching over you to make sure you follow very basic morals (Ten Commandments), then you probably don't have the best morals in the first place.
@thomaserossi He's clearly braver and more principled than the cowardly bullies he got despatched with. It takes a real man to maintain his beliefs reagardless of the physical danger involved.
For your own part, it's easy to call someone a pussy when you're trolling Youtube. I f you were sitting in the same room as him. If you were face to face, I bet you'd suddenly get all full of modern manners.
@thomaserossi I agree to a certain extent. I'm retired military and served openly as an atheist. I never prayed with the others. I put up with the comments and discrimination for my entire career. I had to stand my ground on multiple occasions. He should have just stuck it out. This only issue is that they were threatening his life. That never happened to me.
I'd rather have an army of Christian Paladin-Soldiers so that Amerka can fight the evil Undead-Mujadahdeen-Liches, Afghani-Skeletal-warriors, Chinese-dragons, Russian-Bear-mOnsters and other Darkling-demons well.
Otheriwse atheist soldiers who believe in ballistic armour instead of Jesus Christ can't overcome our Evil enemies!
I recently visited a military graveyard close to where i live. While it was an incredibly sobering experience to see all these people who had died for my freedom, I noticed one thing: The graves were almost all marked by crosses. There were several Stars of David, and even two star and crescents. But every single grave had some sort of a reigious symbol...
Give religious fascists one inch and they will take a mile. Our Founding fathers warned us against a priest/preacher ridden society. And when you mix that in with an established military, it spells certain disaster. Thank goodness we have a 1st and 2nd Amendment. Now lets excercise it!
@gloinstrong Atleast they didn't go to war to serve their "God". Like Christians and Muslims never, ever killed anyone. Nooo nooo, never. Never...they are the perfect beings serving a perfect "god". I'm still seeing alot of videos on the internet where muslims blow their opponents to pieces then shout "Allahu Ackbhar". YAY! -.-
Why the fuck did you just put me in a wagon with a bunch of dictators? Funny guy.
The rise of the fundies (or evangelicals as the asswipes call themselves, but I prefer the old term fundies.) in the US military is a REALLY bad thing.
Because when the billionaires finally go to far, need yet another bailout during a crisis they created themselves and eventually finally create a revolution against themselves those goddamn stupid fundie fuckers will be shooting at normal people on the billionaires behalf, even though the billionaires screw them as well.
This honored military member is one of many who have experienced the religious oppression rampant in our military. It only takes one zealotous Christian in your chain of command to make your career go down the toilet. The small things day by day are suppose to be "tolerated," while the larger things are often disguised. Ex, a bad Fit-Rep given for religious purpose, disguised by "unsatisfactory conduct."
The religious people in charge would love to have us believe it doesn't happen.
Former atheist Marine here. They absolutely do discriminate against atheists and a variety of other beliefs. And you're stuck in there for 4 years and are subject to almost anything they please. I wouldn't recommend the Marine Corps to atheists. I'm haven't experienced other branches and can't say much about them.
@AKSBSU Family member to a 15 year Marine, and you're absolutely right. We take great measures to be sure the "big bad A word" doesn't get mentioned in public, because we know full well what will happen should one "dedicated Christian" Marine in our chain of command get wind of it. Highly respected for valuable service today, flushed down the toilet tomorrow, and they wouldn't feel one iota of guilt for it either, as they are encouraged to believe we are a Christian Military. Very sad.
strange, when i went to field training we had a "moment of silence" not prayer, and if you didnt want to attend some type of church when offered you just didnt...
If the military is a Christian organization, they are doing a bad job of representing which is the reason 1st amdt is here.Organized religion becomes corrupt just like everything organized by men.But l do understand that it is important for the military to be united and religion does unite people. Agroup of soldiers united by common convictions will often fight better than those who are divided in their beliefs.History has shown that religious wars are the most passionately and fervently fought.
So glad i live in a country free of religious persecution. I sure would hate to live in america right now. And you people always talk about your freedom. Hah!
@zmode82 Then again, the Marines Corps were literally founded by a bunch of drunk sailors in Tun Tavern, Pennsylvania, back in 1775, and guess what? I think most of us Marines are still too drunk to care about what anyone believes. LOL! Btw, my senior D.I. (Staff Sergeant) was an atheist.
In high school, in the Army ROTC program we are being forced to say the creed every day in class. The last line of the creed is: May God grant me the strength to always live by this creed. And since I'm an atheist and don't believe in it I refused to say it, now my SAI (Senior Army Instructor) decided to drop my grades and makes me do extra work. Extremely unfair and I can't do much about it.
If you fight against evil or fight to make the world a beter place even if you hope that and you do not enjoy killing others and pray to God every day in your military quest and if its something that must be done then you are not punished by hoing to hell and you are only following orders to save your own life.
Fundamentally, an army of soldiers that do not fear death is far superior to one that has soldiers that do fear death. Therefore, believing in life after death does make you a better soldier, even if it's a lie. Think of the best soldiers in the history of the world, the Spartans, their dream in life was to die in battle. So, in this sense it's understandable for the military to press Christianity. It's not necessarily right, but from a military standpoint, it makes sense.
@ISYEBowler299 You are making a lot of baseless assumptions. If you have no fear of death you get careless, and that gets you and others killed, and dead soldiers don't do a good job of fighting the enemy. Conversely being overwhelmed by fear, can cause panic and hysteria, which is also a fast way to get you and others killed. What matters is your personal resolve, how you maintain that is a personal choice. Those who fear nothing are fools, and those consumed by it are cowards.
@JamesTheIdolSmasher You are confusing the Constitution with the Declaration of Independence, and it is not "THE creator" it is "THEIR Creator" which could mean anyone or anything. Also when you swear in you don't have to acknowledge any creator, furthermore in the Preamble the quote "do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America." in legal terms makes the Constitution sacred, giving it more priority than religious texts like say, the bible.

ArceusX7 3 weeks ago
@ArceusX7 Never said we did just spawn here.
Also, life on this planet doesn't have a reason to exist, nor should it need to. Wars and conspiracies are both man-made things, neither relevant to any kind of "meaning of life".

@AlexWerkmeister712 Morality and intelligence are separate.

@shadeslate
Also, God goes against his own commandments.

I Respect what you say, but,
We been conditioned to despise human life, by being nationalistic,
tribal, to live in pain and sorrow, to will our way out of problems, where
fear and violence take over, instead of using our minds.
It's time for change.

We have the power to change ourselves, If we change the world changes,
No family should suffer the loss of anyone, never again, because of violence.
And those in power will have to accept a new world where people can't be fooled
and desire peace, after all, we are one, we are humans beings.
we share the same consciousness.
Let's spread the word.

Give religious fascists one inch and they will take a mile. Our Founding fathers warned us against a priest/preacher ridden society. And when you mix that in with an established military, it spells certain disaster. Thank goodness we have a 1st and 2nd Amendment. Now lets excercise it!

I LOATHE fundies.

AKSBSU 1 month ago

ISYEBowler299 2 months ago
