american football is for girls union and league are for men watch sonny bill williams he can shoulder charge or in so well and then for pace watch habana (south african rugby union player) and then for set plays watch carlos spencer andrew johns george gregan jonathan thurston i could name 1000 rugby players who have more pace strength and set plays then american footballers

Rugby league usualy hav better back skills i admit that but ur scrums r a joke. u should ether get rid of all ur scrums or at least push each other rather than just standing there waiting 4 the ball 2 cum out.

I think people defend better in league then union if it wasnt 4 wales new RL defence couch they wud nt hav won.

I mean what I wrote Union is a kick & clap sport.

The ball spends 80% of its life the stands. I watched about 5mins of the Quinns v gloucester game at the weekend the game was only 13 secs old before the first kick. The next kick came after 19 secs, the next one after 33 secs. Then there was a 2 min ruck that ended with a superb 70 metre kick down the line by the quinns winger. It found touch. The lineout throw wasn't straight so we had a 2min scrum. I got fed up after that.

I love American Football myself.

I'm a huge Dolphins fan. it was first bradcast in the UK bt Channel in 1982 & I've never missed a Superbowl since.

But I think the points a lot of people are making about American Football are correct. There is too much padding & too many breaks in play. Having said that I enjoy it. Each to his own I say.

What irks me mostly about americans though especially with sport is. If they didn't invent it they don't generally watch it.

The way I see it, since RL doesn't allow blocking the ONLY hits are the tackles. When blocking comes into play you get the tackle plus several hits before the tackle. So while there's more time between plays, there's a greater quantity of hits per play. It's like large precision bombs vs. carpet bombing. Each has their merits.

The average crowds are about 20k, it looks small cause most the games shown are played out of a stadium in Sydney which holds around 80k. Also theres around 8 teams based just in Sydney with fuckall advertisement for games, hence the crowd size.

Rugby League and Aussie Rules are probably as popular as each other around Australia, League is more Sydney based and Aussie Rules more Melbourne based.

The Sydney-based NRL clubs struggle to attract large crowds to their matches. I think it's partly derived from a) the financial strain that Sydney's citizens are facing due to high living costs and b) the fact Rugby League is best viewed on television, not from the stands.

Its much better from the stands.

I have introduced many Football (Soccer) fans to the sport, who used to watch on TV but said they wouldn.t go to a game.

After some persuasion I got them to go & they've never looked back. They all had the same response. They said my God you don't realise how fast & exciting it really is until you come & watch it live.

Believe you me its very difficult to get Soccer fans from Liverpool to cahnge their sport.
