You got religious arguments in my philosophy humor. Which isn't really a bad thing, i guess. But less seriousface stuff and more railing against the outrage that is Kierkegaard's attack ads; KANT CAN IN '12!
Atheists are the worst people in your philosophy class, because as soon as any philosopher mentions God in their rhetoric, they start mocking the material. Please keep your fucking mouths shut in philosophy class you militant atheists.
@marsneedstowels What exactly does it mean to be a "militant" atheist? Do atheists go around blowing themselves up because you don't agree with them? Apparently, all it takes to be "militant" is to criticize your precious, overly sensitive and insecure belief in a god. If speaking plainly or bluntly is militant, then I aspire to that. If someone starts to mention Zeus in their rhetoric, I think you'd be prone to mock them too, but to do so is no more or less logical than invoking Yahweh.
Yeees Kierkegaard is hmm.... A nice extentialist hmmm.... theories of Kants and Wittengensteins lutherean epistemology persae....hmmmm persae Kierkegaard was nitzschean hmm.... persae that is true hmmm... yeees persae that hmmmm...
Christianity isn't really critical to most of Kierkegaard's theory, and his entire approach to ethics barely mentions God at all. He even readily admitted there was no rational reason for believing in God. I'm not Christian/religious either but you shouldn't dismiss Kierkegaard because of it. His work would become the foundation for existentialism which is now often interpreted as an atheistic philosophy
@neoteric90 Pardon me, but how much Kierkegaard have you read? He constantly mentions God and quotes the Bible. His main ethical work, Works of Love, is based on Jesus' commandments, and, not to mention, he wrote theological works and held a sermon in a church.
That existentialism is an atheistic philosophy is a stereotype. You're ignoring thinkers like Barth, Tillich, Bultmann, Buber, and Maurice.
@LittleSn00py I didn't say existentialism is inherently atheist, I said I thought Kierkegaard was silly for talking about a god that no one can prove to exist. Big difference.
@MacoutesGabber Kierkegaard internally addressed other Christians, twit. He could care less about outsiders, nor did he attempted to prove God to anyone.
Wow! comedy sure pisses people off (Vergilius07). This video is great! My favorite part is the 'teleological suspension to overcome resignation.' Clever...
I had to pause the video for half a minute while I laughed at "A metaphysical framework that's wasting YOUR MONEY." Then the Gurren Lagann music kicked in, and if it wasn't already, this ad became made of sheer, unadulterated, 100 percent win. Bravo - my hat is off to you.
Moron nietzsche indeed say their is no absolute morol, but he said also that we cant live without mrals ! Go read something before you start making so called eduational videos , and mislead people, cause its suits you
Rebel I think your point is irrelevant. There are several instances in which each philosopher would hold the same views concerning human action. So, just because they agree on some things doesn't mean they can't disagree on others, right? I believe this video does a good job of recognizing their disagreements and understanding their philosophies.
share the same existential framework for the individual to choose his own fate....next time actually understand their philosophies, it will be funnier.
First off, of course Nietzsche and Kierkegaards frameworks are similar. The joke is that Nietzsche based his metaethical framework off of Kierkegaards.
Second, the types of 'existentialism' they each dealt with were almost exclusively experience oriented, but differed from eachother on the existance and attainability of objective moral guidelines, which is what the first part is about.
Third, what class? He's 4 years older than you and in a different country.
Well yeah, it was a joke, like this is....Nietzsche wouldn't be caught in anything to do with politics because he was apolitical and some of his sharpest criticism is against the state and against democracy via the herd, and Kierkegaard was very similar...so yeah, using that as a foundation this video is absurd...which was the intentional point...I guess.
Where did you learn this? Everything I have read about N. indicate that he never got the chance to read the Dane? Reference please! I would love to know what N. would have thought about K.
no way, this is funny ... being a philosophy student and having it presented this way is really funny, I'm not really a big believer in Christian ethos ... although this is just darn funny!
