If someone starts to mention Zeus in their rhetoric, I think you'd be prone to mock them too, but to do so is no more or less logical than invoking Yahweh.

Christianity isn't really critical to most of Kierkegaard's theory, and his entire approach to ethics barely mentions God at all. He even readily admitted there was no rational reason for believing in God. I'm not Christian/religious either but you shouldn't dismiss Kierkegaard because of it. His work would become the foundation for existentialism which is now often interpreted as an atheistic philosophy

@neoteric90 Pardon me, but how much Kierkegaard have you read? He constantly mentions God and quotes the Bible. His main ethical work, Works of Love, is based on Jesus' commandments, and, not to mention, he wrote theological works and held a sermon in a church.

That existentialism is an atheistic philosophy is a stereotype. You're ignoring thinkers like Barth, Tillich, Bultmann, Buber, and Maurice.

Rebel I think your point is irrelevant. There are several instances in which each philosopher would hold the same views concerning human action. So, just because they agree on some things doesn't mean they can't disagree on others, right? First off, of course Nietzsche and Kierkegaards frameworks are similar. The joke is that Nietzsche based his metaethical framework off of Kierkegaards.

Second, the types of 'existentialism' they each dealt with were almost exclusively experience oriented, but differed from eachother on the existance and attainability of objective moral guidelines, which is what the first part is about.

Third, what class? He's 4 years older than you and in a different country.

Well yeah, it was a joke, like this is....Nietzsche wouldn't be caught in anything to do with politics because he was apolitical and some of his sharpest criticism is against the state and against democracy via the herd, and Kierkegaard was very similar...so yeah, using that as a foundation this video is absurd...which was the intentional point...I guess.
