  • one of the best hip hop song ever. HANDS DOWN.

  • i dont know about yall but this is one of the best lyrical exhibits of nas' talent... theres just somethin about this song...

  • Piano and Saxophone are the best instrumentals hands down!!!

  • illmatic and stillmatic are nas best albums, but there was something so special about lost tapes, i cant describe it, its like his most pure album from the heart, definitely my personal favourite..

  • As good as anything on Illmatic

  • I challenge any rapper to put their best tracks against this classic and see what real rap is. This song has everything you need in rap. He talked about jail, military, God, health with awesome flow.

  • @SonofBabylon Done. It's the perfect song.

  • No wonder this track got "lost." Too much knowledge, too much truth.

  • Pushin drop-tops, Stacy Lattisaw tapes, the 80's had us all apes, Youngest gorillas up to bat at home plate...the man has a flow like none other

  • @diamante1184 Word. Nas is my idol foreal though.

    Dont usually read yt comments.

  • @lukelibunao No doubt I'm right there...can't lie he influenced my flow. Can't blame u for not readin yt comments, ur not missin out on much.

  • @diamante1184 If he inpires ur flow. then ur good.

  • @lukelibunao yea I used to get down been too busy lately. check me out "camp lo - coolie high remix ft. automatikkz"

  • few artists can make me relax and vibe. Nas is one of them.

  • few artists can make me relax and vibe. Nas is the only one.

  • Illmatic was my fave cd off all time only thing it was missing was this song

  • 2012 bitchss

  • @DworcowejDumny Sami swoi ku..

  • Used to stay bumpin thiss ishh good memoriess.

  • NAS MUST GET BACK TO SPITTING OVER PIANO BEATS!

  • I love this song forreal God Bless Nas

  • best rappers who passed on-- biggie smalls bigL, 2pac, big pun

best rappers in present day-- Nas, Eminem, AZ

    best future rappers-- Me :)

  • @Casimmortal LMAOOOO uh sure hahah

  • Take one step towards him, he takes 2 towards you.

  • @thagod2e hopefuly i am

  • I love the lost tapes. This cd alone gets me through 5-6 hour car rides like nothing. just zonin to the music and thinkin.

  • @NastyNasNahMean yep, a perfect commute album. Listened to it at least twice this year on the road.

  • @WakeUp2Love word. i hope more people try it cause they're missing out on something special haha

  • Immortal Technique and Nas best in the game no doubt. lil Wayne must feel like shit when he hears these guyz flow

  • @PDAWGss Immortal technique is great, but his flow sucks :)

  • JAY-Z THE BEST, NAS TOP 5 NO DOUBT. NAS THE ONLY ARTIST TO GIVE JAY-Z AN L.

  • @wjk2109 I'll take Nas over Jay Z. The song Ether proved that one!!! Real Talk!!!

  • @madrecka Come on now, 1 win doesnt ever decide who is better. That being said, there is no denying that Nas crushed Jay-z with Ether. Best diss song ever. But career wise and album wise if we are being real, Jay has him covered. real talk!!!

  • @wjk2109 hahahah your an idiot Illmatic is the best CD ever and if you try to argue that you have no idea what real hip-hop is n then he made Stillmatic and Jay has better albums please spare me.

  • @wjk2109 its cool that you think that but really Jay-z is one of the biggest biter's i've ever seen. plus nas destroyed him on ether, If biggie nas or Big L didn't exists there would be no jay-z to get his style off of from. and plus Jay kinda made himself look like an idiot going at nas like that saying his style was lame and fake? srsly you said that about NAS of all people?

  • @SilentButDeadlyGamin Yea Jay said that about Nas but Nas came back hard and destroyed on Ether though. Jay may have more money than Nas but thats not the point that wjk2019 is trying to make. Remember that Jay used Nas's songs on his first album. I'll give Jay his due but he did borrow from B.I.G.(RIP) plus if it wasn't for Jaz-O there would be no Jay Z he'll just known as Shawn Carter.

  • @madrecka that is the point hes tryin to make cuz hes a dumbass

  • @madrecka Jay made his name basically borrowing mad lines from other rappers, thiers a song out proving this but the only thing Jay-z has over Nas is that hes a better business man plain n simple but Nas is by far a better emc

  • @86Wutang86 Yes Jay Z made better business deals by double crossing Damon Dash and the other Roc crew. He lost points with me on that one.

  • @wjk2109 Jay-z isnt even in the top 10

  • Biggie and Nas the best

  • Nas is Back ! NASTY !

  • this is amazing.

  • The day Nas will die is the day people will realize what kind of legend he was and his music will be overplayed on the radio stations.

  • @BurgielKing agreed. lol

  • 23 ppl dont wear doo rags

  • Honestly, I consider this to be amongst one of Nas' best songs.

  • I LOVE DICKS IN MY MOUTH =)

  • some real shit

  • Beautiful Song Of Nas

  • skips? really?

  • Comment removed

  • This music is just before my generation, I love it with a passion, it's hard to wrap my head around this music being a popular accepted medium back then, to turn on the TV & see some Nas, Pac, or Biggie, or some Tribe. God I would love that shit

  • @Ryanandrambo fuck ya man when mtv was still on you turn thaqt shit on see all these rappers nobody knows no ones heard of and no one knows what there sayin

  • @Ryanandrambo how old r u? im 22 n i feel like i can remember such a short period of time where real hip hop was on the radio mostly before i was in my teens. its sorta crazy

  • if you guys want the old shit then listen to it. rap/music changes over time GET OVER IT..this type of rap isnt coming back...rap in 80's was different then in the 90's and now its different its going to keep changing so stop fucking crying on every video talking about we want old rap back

  • @323logic haha idk i would probably kill myself when im 50 if i hearing people sayin "if only lil wayne and flocka were still in the game, it would be sooooo swagg"

  • @323logic you uploaded a lil wayne instrumental...nuff said.

  • @RealEastCoastHipHop so what bitch i like the instrumental dont mean i like the artist...u have 20 upload views..nuff said

  • @323logic damn i agree with you on the part about how rap just changes. im always tryna tell people that

  • @youlookgoodtoday Too bad Rap changed for the worst but there is the underground where we can listen to the real stuff not that homo Pop rap crap.

  • thumbs up if you miss the days of Nas and Biggie!

  • @twanimos

What do you mean the days of Nas and Biggie?

Nas is alive, well, and is making his new album, Life Is Good.

And Biggie was the "Lil Wayne" back then btw.

  • @MeAgainstTheRadio Yet we all know Biggie and Lil Wayne shouldn't be compared.

  • @MeAgainstTheRadio biggie >>>> wayne

  • @MeAgainstTheRadio but lil wayne sucks and biggie didint

  • @Hecck420

Thats what ppl thought back then, that biggie was a tool.

And he was cuz all he did it for was the money.

  • @twanimos Nas is still around stupid

  • @GemSh0t yeah but whens the last time you heard a nas hit at the club or on the radio? or even in movies? he has been mostly forgotten by the world, and i think its a damn shame but it doesnt change the fact that its the truth!

  • @twanimos I've heard "Nasty" and "Ghetto Dreams" on the radio multiple times, and a lot of people been bumping Distant Relatives. I mean Nas was never the big club-hit rapper in the first place, like Biggie was.

  • @twanimos haha u dont get TRUE rap...

  • @twanimos i was like 4 or 5 in those times but my pops used to bump the nasty kid in his whip back in the days lol

  • @twanimos Nas is still Nas

  • NAS FATHEREDE THEM ALL.

    THEY SAID IT.

  • Yo, Just Wanna Say Thanks To The So called Brother Or Sister who openly stole this Classic cd from me for their own enjoyment then. To bad we got Youtube Now witch gives you a reason to not make it good now but to burn in hell for your greed...just burn ...and burn and fuckin burn black devils. fuck it we know they out there why front on each other look for them shady asses...just dont hate........ let it be.

  • Real rap. This is what hip-hop is supposed to be. Real life, pain, struggle, written in poetry. I don't listen to rappers, I listen to poets:

2pac, DMX, Nas, Eminem, Joe Budden

  • @Jmlad91 gtfo dmx and joe budden really kid?

  • @Soulexr2

Listen to DMX's first 2 albums, and listen to Joe Budden's Mood Muzik mixtapes and then come back and talk to me. Better yet, listen to 'Let Me Fly' from DMX and 'All Of Me' from Joe Budden, ill give you a shortcut. I have a feeling you got the mainstream 'Party Up' type image of DMX, and the 'Pump it up' image from Budden, right? Just listen to the shit I listed, if you dont think thats hip hop, idk what to say my friend

  • @ryansmithc u said "Pac is overrated for only lasting a DECADE"??? his career started with the 1991 "Same Song" track with Digital Underground and ended in 1996 with Makaveli, Don Killuminati album.. SIX YEAR CAREER,buddy...man u dont even know the facts about what ur debating on!!!!! u probably think lebron is better than Jordan,or that wrestling is real..SMH.....im done with u

  • to say Pac is overrated is to say Michael Jordan or Michael Jackson is overrated.. SMH...shake my MUTHAFUCKIN head i mean

  • last real nigga alive

  • 00:00 free replay buttn :D

  • Juss listened to this for the 1st time OMFG the song made love to my ears !

  • take one step towards Him, He'll take 2 towards you. Thanks for that Nas.

  • This album was greatness when i heard it from the first track on..!

  • Nas is amazing.

  • #1 Pac #2 Nas.......

  • @626SupremeLogic

    Nas 1# Pac #2

  • @ryansmithc thats the falsest statement ive ever heard...

  • @deanoyoohoo

Pac is overrated for someone who barely lasted a decade. For me a rapper has to be seen based also on consistency. Nas has never changed. Jay did. Snoop did. Hell, even Dre did. Pac had a lot of emotions and charisma in his songs, but Nas is a lyrical god. Even after years, he's still sending out a message. Pac was also a poet but he loved Money. I have a feeling he would have sold out in today's game, just like Jay and Snoop did... But in the 90's alone, illmatic is untouchable.

  • @ryansmithc bollocks

  • @ryansmithc Calling Pac overrated is blasphemy. The fact that he made so much music in less than a decade is part of his amazing legacy.

  • @ryansmithc 1. You probably were never a Pac fan (which is cool,to each his own)...2. You obviously havent heard the majority of his VAST catalog. So i take ur comment with a grain of salt... watch Pac's movie ressurection and find a more compelling figure in hiphop that has the talent and musical catalog to back it up.....good luck... however,i do agree with u about Nas... maybe the greatest ever outta of NY...i knw pac was frm NY,but he repped West...

  • @626SupremeLogic

don't state things as facts if you aren't even sure whether they're true or not. I listened to Pac. More compelling figure? Rakim? Nas?

It's in my opinion, that Nas is just the best rapper to have ever existed. He's consistent (tupac never lived long enough), best lyricist, an untouchable album and poetic genius.

If Pac didn't die, would he be viewed as greatly as he is now? Probably not. Death makes you more famous than you already are.

    Nas is a GOD. IMO

  • @ryansmithc Ya i agree with u on Nas....hes underrated in my eyes..... i also agree that death bolsters ur legacy, just like amy Winehouse will be "great" pretty soon...but ur wrong on the Pac issue...its a no-brainer..so ur sayin Nas or rakim's life stories are more interesting?? u have to had followed Pac's career to know everything and i doubt u have...hes not held to a particular standard cuz he died and it made him even bigger...he has a legit legacy to back it all up...

  • @626SupremeLogic : wrong,buddy

  • Lol..Jay Z has never been a great businessman or evaluater of talent...who told u that?? any moves he makes, the business minded peeps he has make those decisions.....and jay isnt the greatest ever.... people feel Pac and Nas waaaaaay more......i cant fuck with jay..cant relate to lyrics depicting a lifestyle 98% of us will never live........ pac and nas speak to the everyday guy....

  • @626SupremeLogic I could not have put it better myself great comment :)

  • need to find these lost tapes

  • i know i am not the only one who had ever really listened to lyrics and thought about my future when i listen to nas

  • @outofthewaypeasant that make us two now

  • THIS IS DOPE!!!!!! YOUTUBE SEARCH "JAY JAY CHECK MY VISION"

  • Jay Z is the greatest rapper of all time....without J none of this rap shit would have ever of been as big as it has become... But anyone who knows real hip hop knows that hip hop is dead...all the music played today is garbage...a new version of hip hop edited by the government which make it more allowable for more people to listen (white people).... Jay Z might be the best but anyone from New York or the East Coast who knows true hip hop knows that Nas beat Jay Z in a beef battle...

  • @frankweezy2g Jayz is a kinda over rated as a rapper, but as a mogul, and president hes amazin, and he can really find good talent, j cole is reviveing hip hop

  • @warriornico80

Jay-z isn't a business man. Dame is. Jay-z didn't believe in Kanye. Dame did. Jay-z shunned J.cole when he gave him his mixtape...and he Dame was the one who started expanding the roc. Jay-z is and will forever be overrated.

But at the end of the day. Jay-z will still get all the credit. Smh

  • @ryansmithc he shunned him before j.cole had any buzz and without listening to the music, as any famous rapper would if some random kid gave them a beat cd off the streets, and it wasnt a rap mixtape was a cd with instrumentals j. cole produced on it including the beat for Top of the World. Get your facts straight damn.

  • @frankweezy2g : have u heard Nas's "NIGGER" album?? well,it was changed to "Untitled"..anyways,hes still gettin it in with that LP....hes still building his catalog..what has Jay released lately.... Nas is still on that hardcore hiphop grind, while Jay has essentially gone Hollywood....sorry but Jay cant hold to that top spot based on reputation alone anymore....

  • @frankweezy2g the fuck? hip hop edited by the government? what the hell are you saying? i agree with everything else you said, but the fuck?

  • nas is great, but does he have any upbeat songs?

  • @WNSoren Yeah, Nasty by nas and he got one with common

  • using potatoes To Make Liquor Just To Prove we Were Some Creative Niggas

  • Damn... song save my life man, take a blunt to the face hop on the motorcycle hit this tune and head out to the suburbs get outta this shit for an hour.. For all niggas strugglin hold on, you get nuthin without struggle and hard work.

    God loves,

Take one step toward him, he takes two toward you

Even when all else fail, God support you

  • gotta hear the version with big L. Kills

  • Nas is a prophet.

  • AHHHH THS WAS CLASSIC FROM FRONT TO BACK!

  • this shit right here, is better than most cats whole c,ds.word!

  • omg nas is da greatest...his music makes u think

  • Proof #92563 why Nas is the G.O.A.T

  • nas+doo rags= street prophet

  • @Sibs1990 There has to be more than one meaning to the way he refers to "being killed" but as a general consensus Oil and Gas companies are part of/ are umbrella corporations themselves... Corporations and industrialisation in the long term is pretty much screwing the world every which way. Secondly, Nas is a smart fella, he chose the word 'shell' as a double meaning; 2nd meaning as 'shell companies' which simplistically are businesses that don't actually physically exist but still operate.

  • Im not too so about Nas anymore. He did a song wit a infamous drug kingpin turned rapper. u kno dat guy Rick Ross. They did a song called Usual Suspects. Plus Nas aint on the radio no more but Ross and wayne are.

Nas time has past. Ross, weezy etc has past him up and a lot more talented then him now. Obviously they are cuz they all on the radio n he not. Plus all the fans listen 2 wayne so obv. hes better then Nas.

y would so many ppl listen 2 them if Nas was better? cuz hes not

    *Follow @ ma_THT

  • @TrueHopTunes When I got to end of your comment, I was like, "What the hell?". But really, you're right (in a lot of ways). Rick Ross and Weezy have more appeal to this generation of Hip Hop listener, which is why they're on the radio more. Not sure if Nas' time is up, but he was bound to fade as this new generation of Hip Hoppers grow. Talent has nothing to do with it either, it's just that these new Hip Hop fans support to the new school of rappers more, which is the natural order of thing:)

  • @jarbon5 Nas is forever period

  • @Wiggitywigg323323232 I hope so.

  • @jarbon5 i disagree! They are on the radio more because thats what the cooperations want to promote...just as they always did. They want to keep us dumb, so we cant get to our highest concious level. That would make us free. They want us to stay slaves mentally, because we are gods when we operate from the first chakra...Peace

  • @RUCK973 But, those that are in power in the music industry are still in search of money. That goes without saying. And, I agree with what you say about "them" wanting to keep us dumb. Listening to the music that's being turned out these days by mainstream artists these days, that is very easy to see. But, there are some intelligent artists/musicians out there, though. Don't hear them too often because they're on the fringes of the mainstream, or underground. Sad, but they are there:)

  • @TrueHopTunes

Every rapper now a then needs a "pumping" song.

    Doesn't mean they sell out.

And btw, just WAIT till Lost Tapes 2 and Life Is Good come out.

Nas is a lyrical genius, street poet, and one of the truest rappers ever.

  • @MeAgainstTheRadio when are they dropping?

  • @323logic

Life is Good dropping sometime from Summer-Fall and Lost Tapes maybe Winter.

  • @MeAgainstTheRadio i'll cosign that! nas NEVER sold out.... i was under the impression LT2 wasn't going to be released anymore? is that not true?

  • @TrueHopTunes comment doesn't match, Rick Ross was never an drug kingpin, he stole a kingpins persona, don't tell me u believe those fairy tales in his music, u actually believe radio play equates to skill level, have u never heard of payola, it's always been a part of the music industry, most ppl r conformists, they're basically programmed to like certain artists wit 24/7 radio play, "y would so many people listen 2 them if Nasa was better? cuz hes not", that's your credibility right there

  • @TrueHopTunes none of todays rappers are as good as nas just because he aint on the radio dont mean nothing biggie aint on the radio 2pac aint nate dog aint its because everybody now days are all about cars rims girls n money i mean money n bitchs aint bad but that all they rape about nas n others i have said raped about life not fame new "rapers" have self proclaimed themselfs the best when there was much better before them

  • @joeythemanduran lol u said rape. . . . 3 times.

  • @joeythemanduran these new rapers are out of control!

  • @joeythemanduran We need classic Hip Hop stations that play old stuff and underground acts that deserve more credit. I mean, there are Rock stations that have classic music and indy artists so why can't Hip Hop?

  • @joeythemanduran i hate it when people dont use periods. it makes your paragraph unbearable to read, and just automatically makes your opinions in my head invalid. use periods. it works.

  • @Dmarchant6923 Capitals and punctuations are just as important. -_-

  • @joeythemanduran couldnt have said it any better

  • @joeythemanduran nice comment...but the misspelling of "rappers" as "rapers" detracted somewhat from the message

  • @joeythemanduran well biggie is on the radio...

  • @joeythemanduran and also in my opinion biggie smalls started the trend of today's rap, I mean its not violent like biggies, but biggie did rap about cars rims and shit...also made videos of him just being rich as fuck...im hating lol im done

  • @TrueHopTunes well nas's time has passed cuz he doesnt really have much to offer anymore. but in no way does that mean ross and wayne are better. i'll give credit where its due cuz even though im not really a fan of wayne there are few songs hes made that are actually dope n real. if you lookin for someone who carries on the legacy of this kind of hip hop, listen to j cole. especially his friday night lights mixtape

  • @BDG013 what does that mean a lot to offer, new information comes out all the time there is no time limit on intelligence or life facts, how could you know what he has to offer when his new album isn't even out any more. once again, his last album was just last year and it was another banger, so how could a year later before the release of the album can you say that a person has nothing to offer, then you throw J Coles name out. What a joke. J Cole has a lot to offer? Right Okay

  • @ForefatherEnt when i say he doesnt have a lot to offer, i don't mean he's dull, i mean his music wont have a mass effect anymore with everybody listening to new type shit. even if you mention nas bein great on facebook, you'd get a wall of people talking about how wiz khalifa and lil wayne and tyga are better or something. and damn man, give j cole a chance. i do throw him out because he's ill and deserves recognition. seriously listen to his friday night lights mixtape

  • @ForefatherEnt j cole is doin big things, him and lupe r tryn to keep rap from fully falling, give jcole a chance bro u wont be disapointed, listen to lost ones or show me somethin by j cole, and tell me it dosent have the same meaning as a pac or nas song did back in the 90's

  • @TrueHopTunes

Being on the radio makes someone better? I am guessing that you are under the age of 18...Nas has never been big on the radio but only a young person wouldn't know that.....if you think that Rick Ross and Weezy are better then Nas not only do you not know much about music but rap in general...there is no such thing as past your time...it's either good music or not...and I heard nas and damian marley and that is great music. and Weezy was on that too....get a clue dude

  • @TrueHopTunes straight up, fuck you

  • @TrueHopTunes

Hw da fuk is dat a top comment. U dnt knw wat real musik is so shutup!

  • @TrueHopTunes lol u are high if u think wayne and ross are better than NaS

  • @TrueHopTunes Nas' time hasn't passed.Your own substandard taste in hip-hop, coupled with your admitted love of inferior artists, has degraded your ability to recognize musical genius. If you sit back for a moment and let the song's message permeate your thick skull, maybe you'll realize that true hip hop isn't about commercial viability and artifice. This is the best song I've heard about nostalgia in ANY genre. Rick Ross can't touch this. He's too busy promoting a fake image for suckers like you
