@caseybikes25 Don't know how much you intend to spend but any older Ford body would be good because you can get body parts for them. Coupe or Convertible (roadster) are hard to find but they are out there. Try Craig's list and there might be Rat Rod unfinished projects that are for sale cheap...??

@ckctvids@ckctvids Most builders probably have a a lot of the parts just laying around their shop. They put them together based on a plan they have in their head. If you can fabricate, weld, do electrical yourself you will save a lot. I would guess most rat rods cost from $4,000 to $7,000 to build. You see them for sale around $8,000 to $12.000. As for how long it would take... Who knows, some gear heads could build one in a mater of weeks and some take a year or two to complete.
@aricars6263 Old Model "T" Coupe at 4:13 is a car I found in the woods while deer hunting in Noth Idaho about 10 years ago. It is still there as far as I know.

We don't have ratrods here in the U.K. but saw a fantastic chopped and channeled 3 window coupe at a tin and tats meet in Long Beach while on holiday in June. To me it was exactly what real hotrodding is about better than any of the megabuck motors at the show and more than anything else....Pure Fun! Rat Rod is more than a fever... is the pursuit of the roots of the Hot Rod, when "Gear Head" people used to buy cheap parts at the local junk yard to build their cars. The cars should be fast and inexpensive. After decades, the Hot Rod moviment became too elitist, with "zilion" dollars cars, lots of Billet parts and fuel injection and stuff. Let' go back when the whole thing was plain fun!!!!!

That being said, I think a "Rat Rod" reflects the builder's desire to make a car that is a one-of-a-kind. A lot of rat rods or traditional hot rods are more dangerous than motorcycles, because in a rat rod you would most probobly get crushed, because they are a little bit tight, unless you have a roll-cage. But that doesn`t make them any less awesome, because they already are the essence of bad in automotive culture, and... we are all going to die anyways, so why not do it in a demonic ride? Cheers
loved 4:28 wish i could find one of those in a yard but the car im starting to work on is my dads 27 t coupe which was built by frank curry. I love rat rods and hope to get a sedan one day but planning to get my dads car running for wen i turn 16. hopefully wen im all done with the project im going to put up a slide show of all the work ive done. i would love to chop it but im going to keep it how it is since the history of it. To me, Ratrods are built for one reason, to beat the hell out of , to be able to beat it and not worry about what might break, cause if you built it right, it not gonna break like the recyclable generic crap the flood the market with nowadays. I also have a '62 Galaxie 500 XL, '67 Galaxie 500, ans '64-'66-'74-'77 Ford trucks to build just to beat around in. I don't care for candy coated paint jobs, or scallops , just give me that old Rustoleum flat black, and some old style flame job.
This is a cool video, for anyone (like me) who's in the process of building a rat rod. I've been collecting parts for 5 years , have enough parts to build 2 ratrods ,a '29 and a '31 roadster. Using mostly vintage parts , like '40 juice brakes on a Model A axle, '77 Ford F-100 rearend with original Model A rear buggy spring, powered by a '74 302/C6 original mated combo from a Ford van. The best thing about Ratrods, nobody has one just like yours. Always a one of a kind built within your budget.

They use any old parts that might be free or at very little cost. Building a car like a "Rat Rod" is challenging and very rewarding. The fabricating and engineering involved is considerable.... Crude and Rusty is good!!! Hope this gives you some Idea of why a person would build a "One of a kind" Rat Rod.

@scdevon Thanks for the response. And yes, I too believe as you do. If you grew up in America you had an opportunity to get involved with the car culture. I owned about 15 cars before I was 25 years old! It was great.

@vgcoupe1971 the one a .10 is a 29 ford the one at .22 is a 30 ford and the one at 1.55 is a 28 ford.

@daniel55645 I don't have a body yet either.... I have a complete Chev 350 4- bolt main with hedders and a truck 4 speed manual trans and some other parts. Still looking for the "perfect" body!!

I don't know what it is..the first time I saw one I new I had to have one. Then in the last year I have bought 3 to rebuild and make rat rods out of. It's one hell of a hobby I'll tell ya that! Great video by the way. Good job.
