I'm an agnostic atheist but I need help. I went to church with this girl, because I wanted to see if there was anything of value in it. I will say that it was completely irrational and insane. However, during the service everyone was friendly, I met a lot of people, we sang together, etc. Is there any way I can be around a community of people like this in a friendly environment without having to worship a god? I'm an agnostic atheist but I need help. I went to church with this girl, because I wanted to see if there was anything of value in it. I will say that it was completely irrational and insane. However, during the service everyone was friendly, I met a lot of people, we sang together, etc. Is there any way I can be around a community of people like this in a friendly environment without having to worship a god? Thanks for any help.

Possibilities you have not considered include: a God who knows nothing about any afterlives, an evil God, multiple competing gods, a world that has gods but no afterlife, a world that has afterlives - or reincarnation - but no gods... The possibilities are countless but there is evidence for none of them so it would be nonsense to let such ideas control our life.

No one argues that the infants were the result of fornication" or as such "- tainted'. The reason the position is flawed is that yes, God's actions ARE ALWAYS MORAL. We don't believe in the miracles written about in the Bible because there's no evidence that those miracles took place...there's no evidence that any miracle has ever taken place! There's no evidence that Jesus was born of a virgin womb or that he was resurrected and floated into the sky.
You need to improve your critical thinking skills and ditch the religion.

And while all scientists are human, and are thus prone to error, bias, sometimes even arrogance, I believe most scientists to be humble AND, let's see - my computer, car, house, clothes, running water, central heating and air conditioning are ALL the result of science.

It's such a strange sensation when I tell my mom "I don't believe in God because there's no evidence to prove his existance", because she puts this face on like "How dare you!", and my mom is usually a really sensible person.. Honestly, I believe in ghosts way more than any kind of God, because of all the documentaries and tv series they have about people with equipment that actually detects the presence of ghosts and stuff like that.. As for God, we literally have almost nothing like that.
