why is the dshk not on this show? The dshk is far better than the m2. Cheaper to build with the same deadliness, and you can change the barrel faster on the dshk than the m2.

It's not so good I think :). Just an old large-caliber machinegun. Very old and very heavy. Its caliber is not unique, for instance DSHK of 1938 year had 12.7x108 cartridge.

@Goatoftheforest and why do you think that? the MG-42 is a light machine gun so it is able to be carried around for shore, but a M2 is easily the deadlier weapon plus it is a heavy machine gun which means it was built to last, an M2 can fire for days on-end and it has been established as one of the most versatile machine guns on the planet being used by all branches of our military as shown in the video. so i'm just curious this is not a hostile act just give me your reason.

A modernized version of the MG-42 is still in use with the German military as the G-3 in 7.62 NATO. The M2 fire an awesome round but the MG-42 was a brilliant design that was overall more innovative relative to its place in history

Obviously this "top ten" show was financed by the US weapon industry. The M2 ranking #1? Bullshit! There are much better MGs. For example in WW2 the MG42 proved much more effective against infantery. The M2 was simply too heavy. Or on airplanes the MG 151/20 was far more dangerous than the M2. And that's just the WW2 age, just have a look at modern weapons and compare...

The M2 is a heavy machine gun, firing the 12.7 NATO, it was designed to be mount on vehicles, within bunkers, and on sand bags. It was originally used on the B-17 to defend against attacking German fighters. The MG 151/120 fired a 15mm cartridge and was used by the Luftwaffe on their fighters. How you are comparing different types of guns with different purposes baffles me.

The MG42 was, among other scenarios, also fired out of bunkers and sandbags.

@Director84 The MG42 fired too fast and was not accurate. Crews used too much ammo. Plus you had to replace the barrel every 300 rounds. M2 is accurate and fires a higher caliber round, making it effective against armored targets. It is capable of engaging targets over 2000 meters away. The barrel does not overheat. There is a reason it has been in service for over 80 years. You obviously don't know much about weapons, but then again you've probably never used one before.

@Jesse0010110 The MG42's accuracy was fair enough for its field of use. And if you knew something about weapons you'd know, that an enhanced version of the MG42, rechambered for 7.62 mm NATO and with a slightly reduced firing rate of 1200 rpm, the MG3, is still in use in the German Bundeswehr.

Yes, the MG 42 is ineffective against armored targets. But for these there were 20mm auto cannons.

The M2 is like all season tires: universally usable, but not too good in any field.
