  • Hey Braddah Mark, that was so ono. Being as I'm on the mainland, how would I be able to get the score for this ono mele? Mahalo for sharing your talent and beautiful mele with us all.

  • You play this song well :)

It holds a place in my heart....My dad wrote it for my grandfather...

    Thank you & Aloha

  • Thanks for this. Slowly figuring out your fingering on taropatch mostly by sound. Getting there. Been a while since I heard this song. Great job.

  • mahaloZ!

  • This is so beauiful. Normally I prefer to hear the words because there is such streangth in the words, but your playing brings honor to the mele as well. A beautifully executed job. Waimaka for sure.

    Me ke aloha,

  • Auntie Wanda,

Thank you for your nice comments. Ozzie Kotani says he tries to "sing" through his arrangement and playing. I'm glad you could here it. Mahalo again, Mark

  • I have heard MANY songs from different styles. IMO, this is the prettiest song you will ever hear. Too bad only native hawaiians are familiar with it.

  • thank you mark. i know there are people bringing this style to the mainland, but i think you might be right about this particular song. it's a bit unique to ozzie kotani who arranged it for sure. mahalo again!

  • OMG this is the most amazing tone i ever heard~~

I try to watch ur fingers but it does sound like urs...

Is there needed too tune differently ?? Can u tell me how :)

  • thank you for the kind comments. this is an open g or "taro patch" tuning as we call it in hawaii. it is tuned: DGDGBD from 6-1. drop 6 and 1 to D and 5 to G should do it for you. aloha, fctv

  • I love this arrangement!! You are fantastic!! Do you know if there is any way to buy tab or chords to this song? Even Mr. Kauka has said that the only way to learn is by watching, but I'm not that great yet, I need chord progressions...

Mahalo, and excellent job once again!

  • thank you. :) if somehow you can get ahold of ozzie, you might try asking him for the tabs, but i think you might be better off just trying to watch my hand positioning as his tabs don't have any time signature and such--and i don't think this is exactly like the tab.
