  • This looks fabulous, I am going to make it also. Thank you...

  • can i use almonds in place of walnut?

  • hi Alia, what you measure flour and sugar with, when you say cup, how many grams are there? I live in Norway so a bit hard to understand:) but you are absolutely super, thank you for sharing this with us. I'm not that good to make Moroccan food but you get it to work so easily. so mom is impressed with me since I make Moroccan food now:) thanks

  • @temsaman33

I am using U.S. metrics. you can do a search in 'google' to see cooking calculators that switch cups to grams for everything.

    hope this helps :-)

  • @temsaman33

I live in Sweden and i bought in one of the better cookingshops the American measurings cups and spoons, so i never have to worry about the right amount in grams if i am using American recipes. They are a little bit expensive, but worth it.

  • My wife and I just made this cake. It was delicious. Did you use cake flour or regular flour? And for the walnuts, did you measure nuts then chop? Or chop then measure? That should do it. Thank you.

  • I am so glad you enjoyed it! I used regular flour and I measured the nuts then chopped.

  • mmm! love the honey!!

  • my mom uses a shot of sherry or brandy in all cake recipies and it tastes great - we don't have orange extract but we use vanilla instead -

  • yum!!! that sounds so good. I am absolutely going to try this recipe, and dont get surprised if you see it in a video :-)

    thank you!!!!

  • Gosh! that looks succulent! Moroccan gastronomy is one of the best in the world..I really like it. There's also a cake basically made with strong coffee, black chocolate and cinnamom, you may add to it either chopped almonds or walnuts, cuz they just sort well with both chocolate and cinnamon; the coffee aroma is not strong and the cake is pretty tasty...it's just Y.U.M.M.Y!

  • hey im morocan and my mom cooks ur food its delicious

  • I agree, Moroccan food is YUMI!!!

    cheers :-)

  • are they salted walnuts

  • no, I am using unsalted walnuts, you can use also unsalted almonds if you like.

    hope this helps :-)

  • bravo can i use almonds and almond extract and almonds

  • absolutely! this is the beauty of cakes, once you get the base (eggs, flour, etc.) you can add your own touch and flavor it with the essences of your choice. almond extract is great! just few drops, it's kind of strong :-)

    cheers!!!

    alia

  • simple and lovely! I will add tis to my favourites. :D

  • I love this cake! it's very moist and has a unique flavor. it's a great for a tea party! I mean, Moroccan Mint Tea Party :-)

    cheers

  • I love moroccan tea! I got some mint from our moroccan friends and it comes back in our garden every year and I cut it and give it away for other people. :) Spread the love! LOL I dry it and save it for the winter but it is nice when it is fresh! Come and have tea with me Alia! :D Bring the cake! LOL

  • I would love to have a friend like you!!!! too bad you're in canada and I am in the US, we should be neighbors!!! :-)

  • Alia this looks so wonderful, I have a question! If I don't have orange extract, can I use orange blossom and how much to equal the same amount? Shukran bizef :)

  • Hi Zwena,

Dont worry if you dont have orange extract. I personally LOVE orange flavor so I add the extract to enhance the orange flavor in the cake. Notice we already have the orange zest and orange juice, so your cake will be just fine without the extract.

However, I am also a big LOVER of Orange blossom :-) I would add 2 tablespoons.

the thing with Orange blossom is that it has a very delicate flavor that goes mostly with nuts and delicate dough -it's going to be pretty light in a cake dough

  • Bravo Alia!

Je te remercie pour tes vidéos et j'espère que tu continueras à faire découvrir la cuisine marocaine aux gens qui ne la connaissent pas encore...
