  • Cool how you caught the grinders being raised at the crossing and then lowered back down. This run is definitely going to run you up a real fuel bill !!

  • what the hell ?is this damn thing doin

  • @hoscalelocomotive Preventative maintenance of the rail surface. Loram's website has a good description.

  • i want this job.

  • ive seen this in bayarea port costa we call it the fire breathing dragon and its loud sparks everywhere saw it a couple times at night too u see grinding wheels all up and down the track somtimes do they make a model version of this just wondering

  • @1dogeez I have never heard of a model version. You might have a great business idea there! On the other hand... a model that throws sparks would eventually cause some trouble.

  • sorry for being a noob but what does this do?!?! to the tracks

  • @prayb4udie In Loram's words: "Typical problems encountered on all railroads include shelling, spalling, side wear, plastic flow, dipped welds, and corrugation and fatigue. Rail grinding is considered the most effective maintenance practice to control the effects of rolling contact fatigue, to restore profile, and to maximize value from the rail asset."

  • @EasternOntarioTracks wow you know your stuff and thanks for commenting back so fast

  • @claydoll1012 For the crew. Look for the TV antenna and BBQ :-)

  • does this train by any chance come thru trenton?

  • @celica825 Absolutely. The trick is catching it when it does :-)

  • Awesome video 5*****

  • Very nice footage! Everytime I see a railgrinder in my area, I never have my camera! One of these days! I video CN Kingston Sub (Kingston and area) as well as CP Belleville Sub.

  • nice good shot

  • I think that horn is a K5LA. I think.

  • Whatever it is, it seems unusually loud. You know it's coming but it still gets you every time. :-) Maybe just because it's mounted up front?

  • @moon47mars yes k5la i know them when i hear it

  • Nice capture... video really looks clean... I love this area on the Winchester... This looks like the crossing @ 3rd line road but there's no radio shack... Where is this?

  • Thanks!

This is indeed 3rd Line, the shack is simply not in the picture...

  • now I see.... I was thinking this was filmed from the opposite corner... the shack is behind you right?

  • Yes, mostly right and slightly behind...

  • Outstanding Video!

I have not personally seen the Rail Grinder in the past year or so however I saw a Sperry Railcar train yesterday.

  • I don't even know what to say it is so good!!!!!

  • nice!
