I returned to Lompoc for the first time in almost 40 years this past summer. The flower fields are almost gone. We found 2-3 small almost pitiful sample fields. In the 70's everything west of town was solid flowers. It was "Hippie Valley then!"
I just love our town...but it isn't what it used to be...we're losing our flower fields...I know we are...or losing our greens...people are moving in and grassland...sadly...moving out =/ nice video
Now if we Lompocians can just get the tourist to pronounce it right, LOMPOKE not LOMPOCK. I grew up there back in the 60's and it will always be "home". Looking forward to going back this summer for the festival in June.
RivenrockGardens How long have you lived in lompoc? do you or anybody have pic. of the early 70s? megaleto park. reyon park/the beach park? Love to see!
Hello Charlotte, Our family came to Lompoc in '67. It's a great town and a pretty valley, wow, what a great place to grow up in and raise kids. But my family moved to Nipomo in 1982 for cheaper land and cause Lompoc was getting a bit too large, we like the small town feel of Nipomo, kind of like Lompoc in the 60's. But Lompoc will always be my Hometown.
I haven't been in Lompoc in 20 years. This video brought tears to my eyes. Thank you so much for this. If you could get some shots from Lookout Point of the entire valley, that would be awsome! Thans again. I love that valley.
I don't have a good broadcasting voice, and I worry about piracy issues with music. But if anyone has the legal title to good music to fit to this, I am all ears!
do not worry about your voice if cat stevens or james taylor is playing or niel armstong what a wonderfull world is playing in the background on the car sterieo at the time u record! or your voice.

Yeah, music adds quite a bi to the presentation. Some Martin Denny would fit nicely with floral footage.

Use Windows Media Maker on your local XP machine. Do a Google search for stock music.
For free non-commercial use, I often grab a loop from royaltyfreemusic.
And thanks for the videos of my home town flower fields!

Some music, or narration would have been nice... but its great to see Lompoc immortalized on youtube.
