I've seen it 3 times in the theatre.. this is the best movie I've ever seen ever. Everything about it was beautiful. I had such high expectations too, and its rare that a movie that gets THIS MUCH HYPE, is still able to overwhelmingly satisfy people, especially me.

The persians didn't have shields becuase there were bajillions of them and GodKing Xerxes didn't value their lives enough to pay the money to arm them with shields.
There were 300 Spartan Spearmen, and something like 700 Thespians. There were also 6000 other greek people. There were only 100,000-500,000 Persians, but the odds were still well in the favor of the Persians.
Can't wait to see this movie.. + how can you guys expect a frank miller comic to be historically correct.. no of you where whining about sin city being historically correct.. you know why?... It isn't real.. just like this movie/comic.. The event was totally twisted from the real thing. Which doesn't matter.. cause it's REALLY cool

Not even close. There are about 20 inaccuracies that I saw during the movie. This movie is not very close to the history facts at all. They even got the epitaph of "Oh stranger, go tell the Spartans here we lie obedient to their laws" completely wrong. It was addressed to the Thespaeins who chose to live like citizens and die like Spartans rather than the Spartans themselves.
now that's a bit irealistic...there is to much blood and the sounds they make when the soldiers die i think are from warcraft or smthing (they sound like orcs)...will go and watch it in the cinema...

the slow mo in this movie worked the best out of any movie i have seen since the first matrix, and maybe even better than it. Im going to see it again tomorrow, or i guess today since its early morning already. thanks for this clip, it was one of my fav parts of the movie. oh... and the 5 for 5.95 deal really does kick ass at arbys. :)

Well aside from the bit at the end it seems like they were trying to point out that referencing two other movies which happen to have slow mo in them isn't really fair as it implies 300 is relating to either one in any way. That would be like saying Spiderman would be much better without trying to outdo face off and hardboiled. Or that the matrix would be much better if it wasn't trying to outdo the ending sequence to speed racer with bullet time.
Oh a little tidbit I liked from the director. He mentioned (and he might be full of shit but who knows) the reasoning behind alot of the slow mo then speed up then back to slow mo was to give it that adrenaline effect like when you get into a car accident and everything seems to slow down right before impact.
