Hey everybody! I have released my new album 'Progenitor' which has electronic music inspired by great games such as Secret Of Mana. It’s up on my channel ORTmusic to check out and download!
@Dahlmarr Not quite. Sword of Mana is a remake/retelling of an older game (known as a Final Fantasy game on the gameboy here in the US, although that has since been corrected). Secret of Mana is a sequel to that game IIRC.
Just finished playing through this game with a friend of mine, first time he'd beaten the game and my second. I have to say that playing this game with a friend (or two) really makes the experience all the better. I strongly recommend getting some friends, downloading the game for your Wii, and just make a day out of playing it.
I never finished this game...partially because I always thought that whatever the mana tree looked like in the game, it could never compare to what I imagined it would be like
I remember when I first heard the opening to this song with it's whale calls and the gentle piano. I sensed that this represented something much bigger than myself. The picture of the Mana Tree with the kids and the shots of endless trees from the sky. The deep forests. I knew something was missing and that there were deep pockets of the world our there with a powerful and hidden glow to them. Deep shades of green and falling leaves glinted by the sun. This song still holds deep meaning for me.
I swear I almost felt exactly what you just wrote and I was around 6 when I played this game. Its so weird how much emotions a game or scene can create and its just a game ya know? The Secret of Mana music will always be with me forever, it still gives me chills after all these years!
I think its the whale calls mixed with the trees. And the emotions I felt were strange, cause they were kinda mystical and people these days aren't really in touch with anything mystical anymore. I appreciated reading your comments my friend. very cool : )
For some reason this always makes me think of the poster for this game, with the mana tree making the kids look the size of ants. What an awesome picture.
My personal favorite game of all time. 13 years old, Grades dropping in middle school from playing too many late nights of this game. Somethings are just beautiful, and as pathetic it may sound to some, my memory of this game will never be forgotten.
Classic stuff right there... Funny because I listened to this soundtrack today! SNES era was awesome, where Squaresoft was creating only 1 RPG per year, but those were all classic!

From 00:00 - 00:06, it kinda sounds like earthbound sound effects.
(DONT THUMB THIS COMMENT DOWN JUST BECAUSE THE FIRST SIX SECONDS OF THIS GREAT PIECE OF MUSIC FROM A GREAT RPG SOUNDS LIKE SOUND EFFECTS FROM ANOTHER GREAT RPG)
Meridian Dance is still my favourite. I guess the fact you managed to add six themes from this game to your list not including that one only shows how great this soundtrack really is.
I've completely forgot about this track, and thanks to Supra, he restored a lost classic! People who go around saying "omg this should be higher" aren't true Supra fans.
Then at least add some more obscure songs that we can like. You've heard of Cocoron, so add the Fairy Forest theme (trust me, that and the boss battle music are SUPERB). Or at least some Terranigma...
What are you, a highschooler? Just because it's obscure doesn't mean it's good, for one. Furthermore, the only reason these youtubes get so many views/comments is because people know about the games from when they were younger and it creates nostalgia for them.
Who the hell said I thought it was good due to its obscurity? I like it because it's a good game. I've played tons of great mainstream games (Brawl, FF7, etc.) and several bad games nobody has heard of (Cyborg Justice, Brain Lord, etc.). I want more Terranigma on the list because it had so many great themes. Beyond the Sealed Door, both overworld themes, Battle with Dark Gaia, the Intro Theme, I could go on and on with great songs.
man, i'm waiting for shadow of the colossus music since the time i've first subscribed you.. i think all themes from that game could be in, and there is none o n your list xD
I would, but I know that I liked it, and I only replay games when I can't remember anything about them. And on the subject, when's Dark Star going to be added? That was a kickass song and a great way to (near) end the game.
I'm really surprised that this wasn't on your list before. I'm sure I listened to it on one of your playlists. Whatever, still a great song from a great game!
Man, I LOVE THIS BGM!! So nostalgic

This song is so quick, it's like there and all of a sudden it's gone. But it sticks, this song changes you.

A grand and beautiful opening to one of the greatest video games ever made.
What happened to video games having actual themes instead of just background music.

Man, when you turned this game on for the first time and heard that, didn't you just know right then that this was going to be a special game?
I honestly can't decide whether this game or Legend of Mana had the best music in the series. Both are awesome.

Ah yes. This classic memorable theme.
Though I still don't know what the 'whale sounds' were about at the beginning.

I think those are wolves, actually....
Can't be too sure though.
saracennian 2 years ago
You hear the same sound in one of the laboratories later on. I think it's actually the sounds of the imprisoned mana spirits.
Frieza102 2 years ago
Yeah, I thought they were wolves too. Still, it doesn't really make sense why it's there. I like it, though.
