I respect all peoples' issues, but don't think that asexuals should try to be included with gays and lesbians. Gays and lesbians are suffering and being hurt, in various ways--asexuals aren't. Don't use that community.
D, did you know that there's an out asexual character on the new TV show Huge? Not only is she asexual, but she said so, and used that language. And it wasn't a big thing at all; she just happened to say she was asexual when everyone on the show was watching a romantic movie and she was talking about how and why she didn't relate. It took about 45 seconds of the plot and that was it, and I was happy it was handled so casually.
I was really impressed with how well New Zealand's "Shortland Street" portrayed their asexual character--we definitely need more of that. Also, I'd love to be part of "bringing asexy back." ^__^ I'll be going to school in Greenwich Village, so I'm planning on "infiltrating" (haha) the huge LGBT Community Center there. I try to have multiple asexual conversations with sexuals because I realize they have so many more questions than they ask at first- there's a lot of positive curiosity.
