  • Beautiful sis!

  • i like the idea and everything. but one thing i hate is background noise. i hate for the tv to be on (esp when no one is watching it or if im on the phone), i dont too much like when my precious hubby plays the guitar, and the list goes on. and, although i love the sounds of drumming, i am afraid i would hate that too. and, sorry, but i was also highly irritated when you started on that cylindrical instrument (esp since i had on headphones and had to turn up the volume to hear you speak)

  • @hisboo911 thanks for you input

  • Great suggestions (gifts). Also, might I add. . .sistahs, check your area for African or Carribean dance classes in your area. It's fun, spiritual & will keep you healthy.

    OKeba

  • That instrument is an "agogo" (from Brazil). In Nigeria it's called "ogene".

In our household we don't place our drums on tables or floors but on our legs or on the couch to respect our neighbors...

  • @baum7des7lebens7 thanks for the info..in this video i'm actually holding the drums between my legs.

  • I do not know why but I had this overwhelming urge to cry ... weird..

  • Dam that felt good

  • How can you restore what you don't know nor know of how to define?

  • those who do no know or do not wish to know cannot and will not restore what those of us that do know.

  • And those who claim to know and refuse to teach others what is, truly know not to vitality of what needs to be known.

  • Those that are in the know are being unselfish and are sharing and giving insight, yet continually facing a fight from those who don't care to know but want to sabotage.

  • However the culture itself in its incomplete because of the plight of slavery induced by the ancestors, is a product of being sabotaged. And sharing what is incomplete/contaminated is a form of intellectual sabotage of the facts that have in time been forced to become sacred to us. I am sure that African Culture consist of far more vital elements than our sacred music. And you are correct in your efforts to help others understand the importance of African music. Before the Arab and set foot ....

  • ..on the African soil it was the African drum and its echoing into the winds of the sea in which served as a navigating tool for them to be sure of their so-called noble task. I feel that we have been so contaminated with western related music to when we are introduced to what you are trying to replace back within the mind and hearts of our people, because of the affects of a culture that has never embraced African culture, we tend to negate Africa almost instinctively. I commend you.

  • @DavidBrayboy very true what you stated

  • And very grateful for what you are doing:)

  • Nigga bitch, Stay off the crack!

  • are you refering to me?...I don't identify with that word i'm a ISREALITE!

  • O really? All I see is some nigga bitch with a towel draped across her head.

  • lololol..you're silly! lolol..you're a DARK EVIL CHARACTER! POOR THING!

  • Um black bitch, you are only describing yourself.

  • Any black man who doesn't want a black woman is a FAGGOT!

  • No, Any black man who doesn't want a black woman is SMART!

  • angelsnupnup07 is a afrocentric black supremacist who spreads hate and violence under the mask of "black power" and African culture.

angelsnupnup07 is a afrocentric black supremacist who spreads hate and violence under the mask of "black power" and African culture.

angelsnupnup07 is a afrocentric black supremacist who spreads hate and violence under the mask of "black power" and African culture.

  • angelsnupnup07 is a classic example of "brotha" hatred against white people.

They go around YouTube calling for the extermination of "white devils" ... what kind of "culture" is that??

  • African American culture is full of hate against white people.

Then blacks go and drop out of school, join violent gangs, smoke crack, leave their children, enjoy welfare from taxes and blame all their problems on white people.

  • African Americans have long forgotten African cultural practices because it was beaten out of us by the Slave owners. If you look at West Indians, they still retain more of the culture than we do be cause they were not forced to forget it as much as we were. You can still see remnants in the way that we dance, speak, and cook.

  • VERY TRUE

  • aww . . you don't want to be apart of the Great American Gaping Maw?

We are Borg . . . you too will be assimilated, your distinctness will be added to the collective, resistance is futile. =o)~ . . .

Africa is the heart of the world, your the soul of this country with or without drums and head gear. There isn't a single aspect of American culture that isn't yours.

  • Forgive my impudence, but how exactly is the west trying to 'take away' any of these cultural aspects?

If you mean that African culture is not heavily promoted, then yes, of course it isn't - it's the west, afterall. Africa will always have more African cultural than America...This nis not intended to start an argument; but I just fail to see how anybody is taking anything away...they just aren't pushing it in people's faces. It's up to the individual to find their roots.

  • You are not an AFRICAN you are a HEBREW!!

  • Those drums my sister have me laughing lol. Thankyou for telling the truth, I teach my brothers and sisters here in the US about culture back home, while they teach me how to stand up and fight.

  • culture is not just about drumming and music. Culture IS A WAY OF LIFE. MARIAGE, EDUCATION, GREETINGS, RESPECT ETC. these values are what AFRICANS HAVE IN AFRICA

  • DID YOU HEAR ME SAY THAT'S ALL WHAT CULTURE IS ? I do agree with the other aspects as well.

  • They have a drumming circle or some sort of group like that in Los Angeles, in the Leimert Park area ... .check it out if you are in the area. Ask around. It is a great bonding activity for the men as well. I have some drumming CDs of African Music.!! ( woo hoo!)

  • That is a very good idea.

    Thank you!

    Shalom & Blessings!

  • Unfotunately brother/sister..I don't know what you are! I'm not interested in seperating my people into categories based upon where they are born..my aim here is to unify and restore culture. I'm not ONLY concerned with So call African Americans, I'm concern with this nation as a whole no matter where we were born. All these points that you are focused on brings seperation and i'm NOT feeling that. Many of us are ashamed and do not what to be associated with the continent from which we came.

  • I am atheist. please do not auto class blacks into Christianity.
