Anybody with normal voice can sing songs of Rafi, Kishore or Mukesh which are composed by legendary music directors. People will like that because they visualize the original. If you put Abhijeet in front of late 50s or early 60s microphone and sound system, you would not even be able to hear him. Although I consider him among today's great singers but no one after Rafi have even come close to him. How can you compare a King who ruled Bollywood for almost 40 Years vs who struggles to get his songs once a while? There is a huge audience who dont know a shit about singing and thats why singers like Hamesh win awards.

Abhijeet is a great singer. I'll compliment him by saying he is 10% as accomplished a singer as Rafi sahab. Sonu Nigam is about 11% because he has blatantly based his style on Rafi. I am thankful to God that we have the technology to listen to his songs even after he is long gone.

Saying that Rafi wasn't versatile is one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. I'm trying to be really objective and you are entitled to saying you hate Rafi's voice etc (which would be your personal opinion) but if you say Rafi is not versatile, you're either deaf or you haven't heard too many Rafi songs.
