To the people who actually own a new MINI; does it fall apart on you? I hear nothing but complaints about the transmission, the steering lock, the fuel injector, engine knockings, ect. ect. ect......do any of you have the same problems?

I so badly want to save a buy a brand new MINI, but I hear nothing but issues dealing with the reliability.

@retrohippie I'll explain it like this. I had a Mini one and then a Mini Cooper. I traded my Cooper in for a brand new Audi TT (mk2) and am about to trade that in for ... a Mini Cooper S Works. Some might see it as a step back, I see it as a step forward.

You can tell the difference between the old and the new very easily just by looking at 11 things;

1. Shoulders are more prominent on the R56

2. The front grille is more seemingly one whole piece instead of like the old one where the base of the grille was at the tip of the bumper further infront of the top.

3. The speedo is one whole massive clock instead of the three dial affair.

4. Its much bigger

5. The front indicators are within the headlamp cluster instead of being on the bumper with the

I don't know why everyone says it's hard to spot the differences....Pre 2006 mini S has horizontal grill bars instead of the mesh, blacked out ones, they also have 2 more 'foglights' on the lower front faschia, and different interior door panels, as well as a smoother bonnet shape and rounder headlights.

Glad to hear it's still really fun to drive. I was a bit worried since the new car is SO MUCH HEAVIER than the older one. I mean, it's gained something like 800 pounds according to ultimatecarpage(d0t)com (which is usually a pretty reliable site). The old JCW car weighed in at around 2500 lbs, and the new JCW car weighs around 3400 lbs! go see for yourself if you don't believe me!

oooo yea, i got my new 07 S, and yes it lives up to everything tom ford praises. better gas mileage more power, love the overboost and sport button. sick handling. tight chassis although i dont like the less than grippy dunlops.
