Gaming pc's crash all the time. Especially custom made ones like alienware. Macs aren't made for gaming. They're good for those who like to place games but aren't serious about it. All their other applications rock. Reliable. Alienware is in deep crap because so many of their comps keep breaking. Macs are catching up with the gaming industry though.

Mac is not better, PC's can be customized however we want, Case, Ram, Motherboard, CPU, Graphics Card, Hard Drive and CPU. @bharatkumargupta The i7 is overkill dude. I have the i3 3.2Ghz and i run every game i own on ultra. Also large photoshop files, large imovie files and generally everything else runs seemlessly. 6.4Ghz is enough for pretty much anything exept professional movie, graphics making tbh. So long as you have at least DDR3 ram.

Macbook Pro are jokes compared to PC laptops. The price of Mac Pros is unbelievable for how weak they are, and none of Apples computers actually have workstation graphic cards.
Maya itself crashes often with large scenes, high detail levels, or rendering. Avoid Macs for Maya. Build a PC.

i only spent 900 on my pc, im running any game you can imageing @ full setting with max AA and AF. rendering HD videos while still milti tasking, and like godzilla said, your only paying for the screen on a mac. and personally, if any of my hardware fails id rather fix it myself that have to have an apple "tech" have to fix it ya know, i just find pc's easier to maintain
@ZephMan13 Yes it will, depending what other cpu you're comparing the i7 to. All source games (like LEFT 4 DEAD 1 and 2) really like powerful cpus but can be maxed out with a mid range gpu from 2 years ago.
All of my friends got the free of cost version of Left 4 Dead Two over there at L4D2dlXcom (replace X with . ) yesterday, and it works completely. This video game was designed for on the web! Pick it up and try it if you havent already!
I'm actually kind of glad a few Steam games were released for steam because it'll help populate the PC gaming community. I'm not too sure how I'd feel about an HD4850 powering a 1440p screen, but it'll probably work well for the source engine.
If it's a ported version does that make it legal?? Because it's all totally different in the build and stuff because it's running on a whole different operating system.

Why spent half a K for a GPU, when you can have one cheaper that does the same thing, just with lower fps. 25 fps and above are great for me. I am not like some crazy people that won't play a game if it drops below 60 fps, or even 100 fps! These guys must have never played Crysis!
not likely the macbook isn't that high powered to play a game like this with these setting maybe if you got more memory put into it because the macbook comes with only 1 GB i upgared mine to 4

@Swaggy04 Avid > Final Cut, and is used also professional studios (ever heard of Avatar?). There are programs like protools that are as good as Logic Studio. Powerpoint is identical to keynote.
The point is that PCs and Macs have identical creative software, while Macs offer a 'retard-proof' approach and Windows offer a time and money saving raw power approach. If you're trying to argue 'Macs make my designs better' then I laugh at you, any artist would know its not the tools.

You need to consider the time it consumes, and how easy it is. @bharatkumargupta Well, there's no 64-bit mode (REALLY bad.), iMacs are not powerful, a Mac would be $3600US compared to a more powerful $2000 PC. iMacs have VERY weak GPUs. iMacs also have VERY bad cooling.
Macbook Pro are jokes compared to PC laptops. The price of Mac Pros is unbelievable for how weak they are, and none of Apples computers actually have workstation graphic cards.
Maya itself crashes often with large scenes, high detail levels, or rendering. Avoid Macs for Maya. Build a PC.

i only spent 900 on my pc, im running any game you can imageing @ full setting with max AA and AF. rendering HD videos while still milti tasking, and like godzilla said, your only paying for the screen on a mac. and personally, if any of my hardware fails id rather fix it myself that have to have an apple "tech" have to fix it ya know, i just find pc's easier to maintain

And no, when you buy a 27" iMac you don't just get the display.
You get the logic board, RAM graphics card and all the rest.
There's one thing I've noticed about all these Apple haters: They don't know anything about Macs.
This 27" i7 with 2TB HD, 8GB will do anything I want it to and then some. I'm well satisfied.
I've been using Apple computers since 1979, an Apple Certified Macintosh Technician for the better part of a decade.

I'm actually kind of glad a few Steam games were released for steam because it'll help populate the PC gaming community. I'm not too sure how I'd feel about an HD4850 powering a 1440p screen, but it'll probably work well for the source engine.

@oglet69 I agree. I wanted to buy this iMac, but I was scared the GPU sucked. Then, I found this gpu is awesome. I'll get it for sure. Why spent half a K for a GPU, when you can have one cheaper that does the same thing, just with lower fps. 25 fps and above are great for me. I am not like some crazy people that won't play a game if it drops below 60 fps, or even 100 fps! These guys must have never played Crysis!

This game runs smoothly on my low end 20" iMac from 2008.
1680x1050 resolution
All settings are medium, except texture is on high.
Anti-Aliasing to 2x.
However, I wish I could get GTA 4 to look like this. I mean GTA 4 overall has way better graphics, but I have to play at 800x600, low-medium settings, 19 fps, and the quality sucks.

well if you look at his unboxing video you will see he unboxed the imac accept it you can run any game you want on mac through bootcamp and it gets kinda sad when a 13inch macbook pro can play crysis and some desktop pcs cant sure its 15-20fps but thats pretty good for an integrated card macs can game you just have to install windows its that easy people need to stop spreading around stupid rumours and just use all operating systems geez linux mac windows FTW
