Yeah. You can really notice that in the vocal delivery and in the lyrics. Lord sounds good and strong in this, but Ritchie's like, "Ooops! Is it time for a solo? Hmm, let me throw in Rainbow solo #23, that'll work". He's just standing there in the video, like he's marking time, just not into it at all.
I went back and listened to "Bad Attitude" again and I think I was being a little hard on Ritchie. For one thing, it's a video...it's not like he's actually playing the guitar licks you hear..and yes, it has been for some time part of the Ritchie persona to be a little...um, "distant".
The solo is pretty good, it just sounds a little too much like the last Rainbow hit ("On the Street of Dreams"? Was that it?) for my taste. But that's just me.
This is a fantastic album called " The House of Blue Light" released in 1987. John Lord is excellent on the organ for this number."Mad Dog" is a super song too. My favourite on this album is "Strangeways". Anyone got the video for this one?
Great album, great song, great band. I very much wish I could have seen them with this lineup (no disrespect to Steve Morse, who is quite good) but Blackmore could come up with some great guitar riffs that sound distinctly European...too bad he is such an ass to work with...P.S. Ian Paice kicks ASS!
thanks very much!!! brings back memories of my late teen years :) great song, spanish archer and mitzi dupri are two other great tracks from this record!!!!
Thanks a million for the posting and effort. Now if someone can find me a video of the '85 lineup doing Perfect Strangers in concert. That was a moving song in live.

Disagree. 1st of all, it's a video he's always that way in videos. 2nd of all, the solo is magnificent. It's just a strong song all the way around!

i peronaally think,, that there many good tracks on the house of blue light: unwritten law, dead or alive mad dog, bad attitude
only problem: deep prple themselve dn't like thealbum because there were again tension in the band at the time...

I'm looking for the "Mad Dog" and "Strangeways" tracks and can't find them on Limewire or here..
Anybody got them by chance?
Luke: The House of blue light wasn't a really great hit but was still a good album.
However, Perfect Strangers was also in the 80's and I don't think u have much to say about THAT album ;)

Maybe they didn't want to repeat themselves and somehow try to adjust to what was happening in music at the time...or just wanting to change...
