Last time on my 3 day camp, we took cans of chucky. it was heavy but so good, seeing ass u just slightly open the can n chuck it in the fire till it boils a little n your good. but really heavy.
@ThePumpkinHead1 Sound really tasty. You can dehydrate the soup before you go, rehydrate at camp and cook. Ive dehydrated chunky before and it rehydrates pretty good. I would guess the total weight isnt even an 1/8 when dehydrated. Ill try it and give you the weights if you want? Thanks for watching
Nice video, at first i thought it was a lil much but after seeing u go though it and how compact it really was looks like it would make for a very nice and comfortable trip. Will definitely take that this into consideration when going out into the wilderness. Thanks for your ideas.
What type of case do you use for your food storage? (the black case) it looks like I could e a camera case? I like the idea due to it's compact size. Any information would be helpful.
hey...nice video!..................relating to your wind screen for your stove, I´ve heard that a windscreen is NOT recommended when using these type of stoves for the reflected heat can contribute to a dangerous explotion of the iso-butane canister. . these stoves have to ventilate.hoope this comment is of help.regards ....rafael ramudi@gmail.com
@TKDKobioshi Most of the meals were premade...I like KNORR, and stove top they cook up and reconstitute nicely. I started dehydrating my own meals and they turn out much better, when I get the time I plan on posting some new recipes. Thanks for watching
just a heads up on those water purification tablets, is that normally they take about 4-6 hours to kill all the bacteria, also once your water is purified and your thirsty and decide to drink it it tastes like absolute SHIT its disgusting. the best thing to do is use some of that propel/gatorade/ some cold drink mix to mix with your water so it tastes better.
@2bidfilmsguy I couldn't agree with you more. The tablets are definately not my first choice for making water at least safer to drink. I use an XL First Needs Water Purifier, it works awesome, or I boil. I keep the tablets for emergency purposes only. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@CdnLifeguard71 The brand name is "Justin's". They are really good. I like all the different flavors, and I get them from REI. Thanks for watching. Brian
@normbrag Thanks, I do what I can as far as the eating goes. I've been playing around with a shepherds pie recipe and I have to say I'm pleased with how it has come out so far. I plan on doing a video on it when I can edit videos again. Thanks for watching.
Gourmet food,..Have you ever experimented Adding one of those hand or body warmer packets or better yet,an mre heater to really warm things up in that cozy ???
Awesome vids, always thinking...Keep up the great helpful hints there, all's good !!!
@normbrag I never really thought of the MRE heaters. The food actually comes out pretty hot just with hot water and the cozy. I might have to give those suggestions a try this winter. Thanks for the ideas.
@ascorpio09 Hello and thanks for watching. I made the cozy from materials found at just about any home improvement store. I have a video on how to make it. Thanks for the comment.
Hello and thanks for watching. I couldn't agree with you more. I had a small container of the camp soap and lost it so I had to buy a new one. I figured I had the room in the shaker bottle and I was going to be parked near my camp so why not? Rest assured that if I was actually going on a hike that cooking kit would be cut down drastically and the soap would be one of the first things to be minimized. Thanks alot for the comment and the view.
Try getting some bagged tuna and adding fettucine noodles, milk powder, dried mushrooms, and dried onion flakes. High protein, good carbs, and a filling hot meal. I like to bring venison jerky for chewing on during the day, and adding to soups and stews. I also bring a packet of cayenne pepper, and a small bottle of tabasco for flavoring.
Hello, and thanks for watching. That recipe sounds awesome. I'm going to give that a try. Thanks for the suggestions, venision jerky is by far my favorite jerky.
Seems a lot of dried food for four days, can your digestion handle it? Is 8oz fuel really enough for four winter days, or is this really cutting it fine considering the risk of injury and delay which frequently accompanies , er, oh camp not hike, like close by to a safe fuelled shelter?
Thanks for the comment. There will be shelter near by, along with my vehicle. I plan on setting up camp and working on some winter camping skills. If time allows Im going to go on some short day hikes.
I can pretty much eat anything, I guess I'm lucky that way. The only problem is I love to eat a little to much. Thanks again.
@wildmutt1978 It was the lack of vegetable bulk I was thinking of, not an excessive calorie content, which I doubt there is there. I'm guessing your soup mixes are based on wheat flour, I use potato 'mash' to bulk out these soups and add some minced fresh onion. Neither requires any cook time. A little ginger each day should help if your digestion should tighten. Perhaps your appetite would be better fulfilled with bulkier food.
I really like the ginger tip. Thanks. I really like the taste of ginger. I actually added about a 1/2 of dehydrated veggies to most of the meals (I dont think I mentioned that in the video). Thanks alot for the ideas. I welcome any other tips. Thanks again.
Hello, thanks for watching. I get the peanut butter packs at REI. If you dont have any luck finding them let me know. I'll pick up a bunch and bring then to the 2010 gathering.
A lot of really great meals here. I found this very helpful, thank you.

I'm pretty sure the brand was "Pure Protein". I think they are pretty good, but they are definately not a snickers bar...

@BiscutLad i must warn you they taste nothing like smores
gokarter57275 4 months ago
@gokarter57275 No they do not, but as far as protein bars go they aren't half bad. I would say that they are an aquired taste for sure!
