  • i've just known oryema music, it's so precious, so lovely to hear, it gives me a lot of calm, can't find enough words to express this beauty...

  • What is the meaning of this song... it is amazingly beautiful

  • @mpat75 Lapwony means "teacher". The story is about a school teacher, whose body was found lying in a school compound. He was struck by lightning and died on the spot, just as he was getting ready to head home. He had a pile of exercise books which he was suppose to correct at home. As a tribute to their beloved teacher, the pupils composed a song that they entitled "Lapwony." It rained heavily on the afternoon Lapwony died. Someone found his farewell letter, the ink all but washed away.

  • @FinsterFlummoxing thnks for the meaning, but if he died on the spot by lightning, how did he writte a farewell letter? i'm confused :)

  • Geoffrey Oreyema

  • Anyone know which album this is from?

Africa calling - Geoffrey Oryema - Uganda

  • my God.....i wasnt aware of this purest form of music on this plannet...i am feeling my soul getting purified by this song...oh God...amazing

  • yes......truly an expression of the soul.

  • Guys its not Lingala. Thats a language spoken in Congo. He is singing in Luo the Achloi dialect found in Northern Uganda. The Luo are spread out from the Sudan through Uganda into Kenya and Oryema is of the Acholi tribe

  • Right. The luo tribes spread out of the Sudan into Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, DR Congo and Tanzania. And you're right, Lingala does not belong to the Luo. It belongs to the Bantu group together with Kiswahili.

  • @idropatrick thank you for these infos :)

  • @idropatrick thank you for these informations! :)

  • Very beautiful song, what language is he singing in?

  • I believe it's Lingala, a Luo language of the Acholi people of Northern Uganda/ Southern Sudan.
