I love my hawiian Island. I live on the mainland in cleveland texas, about 45 miles north of houston. Every morning i commute into houston to work, my island is on my mind. So myself and the love of my life will be going home to our ohana on the big island of HAWAII. Aloha to all. will be home soon.
Hate for some of you to go thru your lives misguided but Hawaiians weren't cannibals and there would have been no threat from any other nation for we were already a "Territory of the United States"...........
When I want to get away from the city I just head to Makapuu and Waimanalo. The big blue ocean on one side and the mountains on the other side. Now this is what country is supposed to look like.
Saw you guys in '77 on the beach in Waimano..Was a Calif "haulie(?)living on the beach, watching the kite flyers, getting hasseled by the locals BUT never forgot this song..was in Hawaii in the 60's and the changes were so cruel...
for a local boy being in the mainland, and listening to this, really makes me miss my 'aina. not just waimanalo blues, but Wahiawa, Wai'anae, Nanakuli, Waialua, and Haleiwa Blues as well.
We Hawaiians need to remember before the White Man got here we were nothng but a bunch pagan half naked cannibals. While life may not be perfect in America it sure beats grass shacks and dirt floors.
@mrains100 you mean with running plumbing and electricity before the white house? Please tell me you're a troll, if not google Iolani Palace, not gonna say I can know how it would be but no favors were done
The 70's in Oahu and Maui were great - the best memories of my entire life, I caught the Hawaiian Bug, and am more into the ALOHA more than ever - the music gets me through every day and it's challenges. This song and the renaissance evolution was like no other to save a dying culture, that now can be enjoyed forever-Mahalo, and thanks for the memories, aloha
This song always reminds me of Eddie Aikau. He loved playing this song at all the Aikau family house parties. I miss the old Hawaii and Eddie. Eddie Would Go. Aloha
Significant to me is that Keola and Kapono Beamer NEVER SMILED when they sang this. It truly represented a heartfelt loss in their lives. Of all the happy Hawaiian music I remember, this one stands out as a tear-jerker. When I remember Oahu with a silent glance over my shoulder, this is the song that comes to me. I pity the true old Hawaiians who had to watch 'progress' overtake the paradise of their youth.
Man when I was one Keiki this was my song. Being from Waimanalo my dad sang this song all time. Man those were the days living in Waimanalo Hana battas and all...
I love how "The Tattoo" quotes this song, it gives me a PERFECT mental picture . Too bad nobody in 'my generation' listens to these kinds of songs anymore ;/
Well, whoever posted it, Thanks, Hawaii in the 70s was a great place to be, I grew up on the Mainland, so I didnt experience rock fever, Believe me, You live in LA you learn to appreciate Hawaii, This is for the Locals, Who think it might be better somewhere else, It aint, No place like home, The Islands.
@56kanaka Yeah Bra ~ I lived there in the 70s too, and it remains some of my best memories in life (ahh ~ we were young then!). I had the privilege and pleasure of seeing/hearing the Beamer brothers performing this song live several times during that period. They also once performed at Sheriff Joe Love's wedding luau on the windward side, but I was on Hawaii time and got there after they sang!
I was there the VERY FIRST DAY Honolulu ever had smog! Mayor Frank Fasi declared an emergency.
@FLSHBK1 AHHH, Frank Fasi and the Red Noodle. Don't forget the SPAM parade down Kalakaua Boulavard. Those were the good ol' days!!! Now it takes me 4 hours to get to the ocean, but when i stay fishin' an get my feets in the water... that's one moment i feel like i'm touchin maui earth. Yeah i know, but a wahine can still dream. Mahalo
@dakamaainamaui And the Bed Races downtown, too! Hang gliding at Waimanalo and over the Blow Hole, hiking the Pali, taking the Short bus over the LikeLike, picketing Hawaiian Electric on behalf of the true owners of the old North Shore beaches, and laughing at the adventures of Hawaii 5-0! Shakka!

This group is not Country Comfort.
It is Country Roland, a mexican label.
Check it out if you doubt me!!!

@HapnJac1 - I doubt you. This is Country Comfort, a Hawaiian band.
It's got nothing to do with "Country Roland"
