  • watch sungha jung, best teen guitarist in the world...

  • All I say say is ..

    The last harmonics lick..

Are you fucking kidding me ?? WHAT ??

  • You can't compare them. Both have different styles and sounds. It would be like comparing Petrucci and Wylde. Both are amazing in different ways.

  • I would be just as good. if all the strings didn't get in the way.thats a fact jack.

  • Any Doyle , is afriend of MOYle.. we love TE ,say so ,Aye.

  • Doyle you are truly A Fretkillr......

  • Doyle you are truly a Fretkillr!!!!

  • I guess some are simply clueless.........Taylors are phenomenal Instruments far surpassing Most Every Commercially available offering on the market today.

Yes, they sound different than a Martin as they should ( Perhaps you didnt Know the OWNER of Taylor Guitars was at one time MARTIN's Head Luthier)...... And to See DOYLE Live is absolutely MIND BLOWING..........Ive met Mr Dykes and he is Truly a Humble Gentleman and Genuine Nice Guy!!

  • lol @ people that talk shit on taylor guitars.

i'd venture to say that 'wobblingbaby' has never played a taylor with the es

  • Amazing!

  • Who in the hell is this guy, and why have I never heard of him?

This song does not showcase his true talent, but holy shiz, this guy is a phenom.

He has surpassed Chet Atkins in my mind.

I'd like to see him play some Wes Montgomery.

    Truly an undiscovered master.

Maybe I'm the only one who hasn't heard of Doyle Dykes?

  • More like, Who from the Heavens is this guy?? Just learned about him yesterday & I'm speechless. What an amazing talent.

  • well he's underrated thats for sure, he's not a vocal outgoing guy like emmanuel, but i think he;s a more quality player

  • his family lives here in jax fla. Unbeleivable talent

  • you ask " who is this guy?" he is a prodigy he is a non human guitar player. insane. no words describe his ability and feel forthe style he plays and he surpassed anyone else i've ever seen play live or in the studio. chances are is, he's a robot made by the Chinese or possibly a life that doesn't exist on " earth "

  • He often travels around doing clinics for Taylor Guitars, look on their site or his for the next one near you in the USA. I've seen him twice that way for free. Very easy going humble guy. Hope you get a chance to see him soon. It's even more amazing when he's 6 feet in front of you!

  • perhaps the best guitarist ever.

  • This guy is great. I would like to hear him play this on a Classical guitar. The top end is just a bit too harsh.

  • He always has that cocky but aw-shucks grin on his face when he finishes something like that.

  • Amazing player!

  • Just Beautiful..

    davido

  • i've seen him live twice. He's amazing

  • Magic

  • What is the right hand pattern he is using for the intro...is it ima ima ima?

  • pami pami in the classical tremolo style i think.

  • Yeah, he does pima; I find it easier to do it pami. Sounds the same either way! :)

  • Outstanding. This guy is probably the best acoustc fingerpicker of them all. My god,how bloody amazing is he.

  • never has my mouth been so agape.

  • Having played guitar for a few years now i still could swear theres at least another one there.

    Phenomenal.

  • Doyle is very good, has a different style than Tommy E., but thats because he's not Tommy! Everyone has there own sound!

  • @T410ce

Exactly! This is not a contest. Both players are world class.

    allen

  • @T410ce Tommy and Doyle and BOTH great and ENJOYABLE to listen to!!!!!!!!! Just learned about Doyle ( from ignorance ) but Tommy is MY forever guitar player, maybe of all time!!!! I'll still listen to Doyle ANY time! He is GREAT!!!!!!! Thanks for posting before me and helping me to witness his talent!

  • @lilstinky52 I grew up listening to Chet Atkins, and I don't know if anyone was better than him, because Tommy got to start listen to his ( and Merle Travis') style at about age 6 or 7!! He got to grow from what was already established......but NOBODY could have done a better job!! But I'm waiting for you to tell me about someone that well BLOW my head off!!!

  • Amazing!!!

    Fingers and ear magical!!!

    MARAVILLOSO!!!

    5***** and +

  • I would sell my soul to Satan for this guy's righthand.

However, by speeding up the tempo, it tends to ruin the harmonies and mood that made this tune such a classic since the sonic colors kind of run into an aural splotch. Really, he goes for the arena rock hacky approach. It's too bad, because he has phenomenal talent.

  • his left hand too.

  • lmao day tripper

  • get an alvarez yairi. you will not be disapointed. ive tried them all and for the money they are the best. made in japan like toyotas and they've done allright.

  • I've heard that they're great guitars too. :)

  • I'll second this. I've got a Alvarez-Yari DYM-85 and love it! I've played Taylors before and have wanted one for many years, but they cost too much for my budget. My Yari is top notch quality construction, tone and looks damned nice too.

  • great guitars indeed! the one I tried had a pretty chunky neck, which I didn't care much for - but terrific tone & build. I still preffer even the lower end taylors though (crazy 'bout the big baby)...

  • what's do you guys think a good guitar for a starter player is? like me

  • A Fender Starcaster is a fairly good first guitar, if you want an electric. I'm not so sure what to recommend for an acoustic, though.

  • thanks dude dos anyone have any suggestions for an amp?

  • kustom make some awesome amps now that are great for starters but can also handle higher volumes nicely when you get better and fancy showin off how good you are!!!

  • Alvarez makes some nice inexpensive acoustic guitars that will be a lot nicer than a similarly priced guitar from a high end maker like taylor or martin. A standard good amp is a fender delux but it really depends on what you want to play. Also, Epiphone makes nice inexpensive electric guitars

  • thanks man

  • wtf this guys waaaaaayyy better than tommy emmanuel

  • and here comes the sun

  • gotta love how he added day tripper in there!

  • Doyle Dykes is an awesome guitar player however his playing just doesn't flow like Tommy Emmanuel's. Just my preference; I consider them both to be right @ the top w/ Tommy right on top :D !

  • Wow, this guy is really good!

  • holy cow! this is the best tremolo i hv heard on steel string!

  • .... freak.... AWESOME!

  • Some of the tinny sound can be hard on the ears but is probably more due to poor recording quality than to be blamed on Taylor.

  • Scotty Anderson is in a class with Doyle. Naudo is great but his style and sound are different. Naudo plays nylon strings and while fingerpicking he is heavy on his thumbpicking. I find Naudo to be more of a classical stylist lacking some of the harmonic tones that come out of steel strings and a more balanced fingerpicking style such as is Doyles trademark. I can appreciate Naudo's style but he is not as much of a showman as Doyle nor is his style of playing as refined as DD.

  • i believe this guy is better than both of the guy u mentioned.. u should check him out

check out *doyle dykes showing off the Taylor T5.. this dude kicks ass..

  • doyle is a world class guitarist recognized internationally. maybe you don't like the sound of the video but if you've heard him live you'd be blown away. taylors are also world class guitars.

  • Point me towards a better sounding video....... I've just looked at

"Doyle Dykes's Most Memorable Taylor Guitar Performances" and he seems to go from one tinny guitar to the next -- someone else also made the same comment -- Are Taylor guitars just bad guitars or has this guy got bad sound engineers ?

Honestly my $200 Acoustic has a better sound than this

Note my criticism concerns the guitar NOT the guitarist

  • It would be completely fruitless to criticize the sound of the guitar since what you're hearing has nothing to do with the acoustic properties of the guitar. This is all pickup EQ.

  • come on man...if you can criticize taylor guitars and not feel like an idiot, then you obviously have never played one

go to your local music shop and pick up 19 out of 20 taylors..theyre blow 19 out fo 20 gibsons/ martins out of the water

i own 3 taylors and play out very often..

#1) they do not sound tinny

#2) i have never had any of the critics that hear me tell me that they sound tinny

not to get personal, but i would swear by taylors n e day and felt i need to stick up for em

  • Your right I have never played one I'm just going on the sound of these videos

and guessing that this may be the problem

Do you work for Taylor Guitars ?

  • do i work for taylor?..no..i wish

im justa musician that favors talyor guitars over almost anything

and i highly recommend you check out taylors

these videos will never capture the sound of a taylor, or any guitars for that matter correctly

  • "I'm just going on the sound of these videos and guessing that this may be the problem"

You are absolutley correct. So much is lost in the audio compression. I have a DVD of a live performance of Doyle and the sound is amazing. Very rich and full.

  • @jdlow77 blown away by this thx for butting it up

  • As much as I love and enjoy Naudo's music and style, Doyle can play most genre of music in it's 'native' intentions.

The one I recommend that every want-a-be guitarist and any music lover to watch is Sungha Jung. This young Korean kid will blow you away!

  • @WobblingBaby are you seriously comparing him with Naudo? hes way better...

  • beginning sounds like from golden sun GBA

    awesome playing

  • I would vote Doyle the best acoustic guitar player i know of in an instant, his skills surpass so many others it is amazing

  • i agree with you !! but check out tommy emmanuell too ! he too is in a league of his own when it comes to playing acoustic

  • agreed! it's surprising he's not as famous as someone that has his skills should be

  • cry

  • I know I'm not the only one who wants the tablature for this... Please let me know if anyone has one or knows where i can see it.

  • I tabbed it so if you just let me know what your e-mail is I can send it to ya'. Cheers, mate! :)

  • tablature for this ??? You C-a-n't

    H-a-n-d-l-e tablature for this

  • nah, I can actually play it.

  • I saw him do this from less than two feet away when I was in the first row at a clinic approximately a month ago. Trust me- it's a million times more mesmerizing when you're there. There are so many sonical facets that a video of this quality can't capture. He's a gifted player indeed.

  • I normally listen to and play metal, but every time I hear Doyle play I get goosebumps because I know the shit I play could never stand up to anything that comes from his hands.

  • I saw this Song live yesterday and I say to you: Live it is so briliant i coulndn`t belive it sounds so beautiful and he`s one of the best Players on accoustic guitar!!! Doyle you are great!!!

  • Absolutely brilliant, Love doyle always have

  • Give Chet,Tommy,Doc, and Doyle- Absolutely an amazing picker and nice fellow. I bought a T5 and a 400 series Taylor but I didn't get the instructions on how to duplicate his sound. How can a guy like that even tie his shoes - I would have to think his brain was totally engulfed in music!! Absoulutely worderful!

  • amazing!

  • Does George much justice. I would like to see Doyle, Tommy Emmanuel, and Jake Shimabukoro all play this together. If you havn't seen Tommy and Jake playing this song check them out.

  • thats was beutiful. amazing dexterity like espeacily when incorporating the harmonics it looks like hes actually picking them with his thumb!!! i wudve of just tapped them!!!!

  • That's brilliant... love the 'day tripper' riff that he sneaked in there, and a wee sneaky 'here comes the sun'.

  • WOW! I think I'll stick to playing spoons.

  • great stuff i wonder when he might be near dallas

  • amazing!!!

    awesome!!

  • My favorite version of a super piece of music. Made all the more impressive when you know Doyle was diagnosed with a tumor on the nerve of his right ear and has been deaf in it since the surgery. Notice his monitor is always on his left now; but hi has not lost his testimony to God. Enjoy him while we have him.

  • I'm trying to learn his tremelo picking technique, I think he's using four fingers...

  • He might be using four fingers but you can use three what ever is best for you remember tremolo is three notes to one so you only need to use three fingers

  • Beautiful song, not as hard as it looks, but to play like Doyle takes some talent, one of my favorite guitarists

  • jaw dropping !!!!

  • One of my favorite gtr players ever!

  • What a gifted musician ! (i think i will give up learning the guitar after seeing this) but thanks for posting jdlow77 .

  • amazing , bow down to doyle

  • any one got the guitar tab for that

  • Yeah, Jeremy Breedlove (Jer1400) did a tab for it. Excellenct job too. I have a copy, if you post your email I'll send it to you.

  • cud u send it to me aswell plz if its no trouble

  • cool, do have anymore? if you do post them.

  • wow speachless :)

  • incredible

  • omg!!! his god on that guitar! whish I was that god:(

  • i whish i could play acustic guitar like that

  • I like the way he play his guitar.. The version from Doyle is better than the original =)

    Not bad!!

  • Inhuman.

  • this is great

  • the ukulele is nothing compared to this...

  • wow! i'd love the tab if your transcribing it.. You must be pretty good yourself to transcribe something so complicated like this! fakesounds@hotmail.com

Will have to check this guy out when he next plays the uk! Cheers

  • hey im going to the Southampton concert if you live near that area, check his website (doyledykes.com) for information its only £5 where ever you go!!

  • hey im going to the Southampton concert if you live near that area, check his website (doyledykes.com) for information its only £5 where ever you go!!

  • where do you i live in the uk?

  • the beginning sounded ALOT like "you are your daddy's son" from that one broadway musical Ragtime... but the rest is amazing

    wowowow

LOL the title of this made me laugh out loudalottt

  • Doyle rocks!!!! Anyome have any Stephen Bennett???

  • great song, great guitarist!

but the ukulele-version is even better.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=puSkP3uym5k

  • Hey Luiohh,

I'm almost done. If you send me a message with your e-mail address, I will be sure to add you to my mailing list for the Doyle Dykes songs I do. That goes for everyone, too. :) So just let me have your e-mail and I'll stick ya' on the list.

  • DEAR Jer1400, is the tab to this song done? I would appreciate it very much!

  • This is impressive but you need to see the ukulele version of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" ultra amazing its on youtube somewhere

  • Yeah, his name is Jake Shimabokuru. Truly amazing.

  • He's also amazing... I think he and tommy emmanuel should play a concert together, that would be great.... I think this guy plays more melodic than tommy, who is more a harmonic type... but tommy is faster i think.... but both are first class guitarists.

  • i understand they did a concert together in Europe. That must've been something.

  • I wouldn't mind a transcription... regular music or tab is OK. Whether I can play it or not is a a different story, but it'll be fun to have.

  • Oh yea- siroric@gmail.com

  • you need to listen to more classical guitar players

  • Looks like we gots ourselves a bonafied stuck up classical playa'. We dip my dogs in mustard, if playing things that other people have written perfectly makes you better than someone expressing his own voice then, sir, you must like to read big books of numbers.

  • Yeah, I agree with Gake. I'm kind of a disciple of Doyle's and people who play classical guitar are entirely different... There's just no comparison. In fact, I've yet to find a classical guitarist that didn't bore me. If anything, we need to listen to more great pianists. No other guitarist plays music so well, not even Chet, but a lot of pianists seem to be able to express music effortlessly. You have no idea how hard it is to achieve that kind of tone and perfection on a steel-string.

  • Anyway, enough ranting. I'm in the process of transcrbing this one and should be done in a few weeks. Drop me a message if you'd like it. I also do a few other of his tunes including: U2 Medley; What a Friend We Have in Jesus; Laguna Sand; Coldplay Medley; and several others. Just let me know if you want tabs. :)

  • yeah, doyle is wonderful!

  • Crazy! Beatiful! (Not like the movie, HAHA)This guy kicks major ass! This rendition is amazing... Anyway, Tommy Emmanuel...search for him. 'Nother really good guitarist.

  • Beautiful, I too love the Day Tripper and HEre comes the sun riffs hahahha

  • That rendition is nothing short of nuclear. I wouldn't even believe it if I hadn't heard this guy play other things that just can't be done solo...except by him

  • yeah, doyle's tremolo technique is superb. haven't heard anyone else play like this. not even chet

  • Thats awesome

  • Haha, I love how he threw in "Day Tripper" and "Here Comes The Sun." Really cool.

  • Jesus christ...

  • Unbelievable incredible! it's only one guy on the stage, but it sounds like 2 at least! awesome!
