I just got over this a couple of days ago. It's seriously some nasty crap. Those aren't tears coming out of your eye...it's that stuff that eeks out as you sleep and crystallizes (eye cold or sleep rock) and it smells terrible once it gets on your face.

You know what sucks? I have it. When you RUB your eyes then touch other parts of your body...(me being a guy..soo you can guess where it spread to) it spreads like poison ivy. If the oils or something gets on your hands, it spreads wherever you touch it..

Also you can get pink eye from someone bare butt farting on your pillow to be cause little poop particles come from the butt and on to the pillow and when the person sleeps on it, the poop particles get in the eye witch cause pink eye.

Depending on which country you live in, there are different treatments for BACTERIAL conjunctivitis.

Personally, i would recommend cloramphenicol eye drops (antibiotics). Treatments only 4-5 days long plus you should be able to pick them up from your local chemist instead of needing a Rx from doctor.

I think i have viral conjunctivitis. These are self-limiting illnesses, so i'm just hanging about till it clears itself up.

I've recently had a bout of Conjunctivitis. My home-brew recovery:

1) wash/bathe eyes with a mixture of warm water, sugar, salt, refreshing eye drops (optrex), neat Bacardi spirit

2) (following 1))Splash eyes vigorously with cold water with eyes inclined downwards: tightens capillaries, reduces swelling, prevents of eyes,etc.

3) Repeat 3 times a day, but only use the Bacardi the first time; I used it as doctors were closed, very bad case of oozing

4)Cold tea bags/tea on eyes soothes

5) SLEEP!!

Hands down, the best cure for the Bacterial type of Pink Eye is Ciprofloxicin Antibiotic Eyedrops. Its' pretty powerful stuff, and works quick, easy, and safe. Go see your doctor as soon as you start developing symptoms! Take care and God Bless!

Man i get that shit too, i every year the stringy stuff that laces around my eye and inside my eyelids, i dont think theres a cure, but a warm flannel pressed into the eye stops it pussing after a while (quite a while) and a soft ice pack held to the eye takes the swelling down. In the past i've tied ice packs and warm flannals to my head using ties etc and just had a nap or listen to the radio, its seemed to work, but there no long term solution
