I think Snape tried to not get attached to Harry, because in the truth, Dumbledore told Snape that he was just being protected, because one day he was going to save the world and die. Think about how painful it was for Snape; every day, he saw Lily's eyes in Harry. Think about how painful that would be! Like, seriously.. I know that if the one I had loved for how many years had died, and their child had the same eyes, it would be really horrible for me. I would resent him a bit, too.

It's hard to believe how in the first story, you get the idea of that Snape hated Harry. Which to me, I kind of believe that was Rowling's plan to begin with, but only her can get by with turning into this. She truely is one of the greatest authors of my generation, if not of all time.

I've always found it odd that Harry named his son after Snape. I'm a huge Snape fan, but if I found out that a creepy teacher I had hated for 7 years had saved my life, simply because he was in love with my dead mother, my first instinct wouldn't be "I'm gonna name my kid after him!" it would be, "Thanks dude, but you're still creepy."

@rraacchh2 I find it amazing how you could completely miss the point of what you just described. Severus lived his entire life wanting only one thing, but he couldn't have it. Harry thought Snape was just mean but in this scene he realizes that his intentions were clouded by what Harry knew. Snape acted that way because Harry reminded him of the thing he loved, but more so the thing that stopped him from being with her. Harry realizes that Snape loved him like a son, and what remained of Lily

I think for me, I would possibly want to name a kid that if i had one, but i probably wouldn't because it would hurt too much. @rraacchh2 He led a horrinle, lonely life of secrecy and was mistrusted by all but 1 or 2 people, anything bad that happens in Hogwarts is always thought to be Snapes fault. Although i agree that he should have chosen Lily over dark magic he chose to live a horrible life because he loved Lily so much even though she didn't love him back in that way. I think that deserves at least a child being named after him.

He verbally abused Neville, and he had NEVER done anything to Snape. Also, Snape is an adult, he should know much better than taking out his anger on children. He's an idiot, and yes - James was horrible, but he grew up. Instead, Snape started bullying kids. Not impressive. That being said, he's a very fascinating character. But you need to accept the flaws.
