Also, next time try a 2:1 mix of distilled water and denatured alcohol with a drop of photoflo added as a wetting agent. Works better than that dish soap/water in a dirty bucket you were using in your other video.
SOAP & WATER?????WHAAA DA @#@$55##@!!...Nah.....RUBBING ALCOHOL & SOFT COTTON BALLS and apply in a circle motion WHILE HOLDING THE RECORD STILL...VERTICALLY! Do NOT spin record in your hand! ( I bet this guy is a big POTHEAD..)
some people think "WINDEX' is a way to go. Me i take a bunch of record cleaner, put it on the record, use the cloth to spread it with the groove, then play the record wet and watch all the gunk accumulate on the needle. OLD RECORDS i use rubbing alcohol (I do mean old scratched records with lost of dust dirt and wet then dried dirt & scratches...) There was a used record store (now out of business) that had a record cleaner turntable. Wish I could find one and see how much they cost.
Notice the thumb repeatedly pressing on the suface of the vinyl; not good.
If you must manually clean a record, it should be placed on a flat surface (like your turntable platter), and your fingers should only touch the inner section (where the label is).
Never let your greasy (even if you do not see it, you have it) fingers touch the area where your needle will be.
If using tap water you want to have an inline filter like the Culligan RV-800. Deposits left behind don't "vaporize", they affect the play of your record and wear on your stylus.
Lots of misinformation here. Sorry, but DJ's generally don't have an idea how a clean record should sound.
Most stupid and useless way to home clean vinyl records.
There is a better way to clean records. Begin placing the vinyl on a flat surface, not holding it with fingers as this dude does. Use clean water, clean towels, dishwashing detergent and a clean sponge. Play record inmediately after cleaning.
Note to those complaining about tap water: If left out for about a day, most of the chemicals, especially chlorine and fluoride, vaporize, leaving pretty clean water aside from possible mineral deposits.
This is the reason water left out will taste flat when you got back to drink it.
Thus water is also, in the end, quite nice to clean with. Not as pure as distilled, but certainly very nice, and safer than fresh from the tap.
Which record cleaning stuff, and did you mention the importance of not putting plain old tap water on records? Or getting the records dry for that matter? A record with fluid left in the grooves will gunk up a stylus, with the possibility that it will skate across the record, thus ruining both needle and record.
Tap water usually has a lot of chemical and other crap in it that can gunk up anything. The chlorine will help destroy the vinyl too.
As for drying, you can buy absorbent lent-free clothes from a lot of places. Air dry works too, like a hair dryer on a low setting from a distance. Some compressed air is not bad just make sure not to hold it too close else the coolness will cause dew to forum.
Correct me if I'm wrong but is that a madonna record???? Her label was once sire records and that label has the sire logo! I'm sure of it!!!!! Lol

@TEMPmichaelhansen Playing your record wet is possibly the worst thing you can do for your record. It will permanently damage the groove walls.

Yeah, cleaning a record with a diaper and some brutal cleanser is the way to do it. I'll go throw out my VPI-16.5 now.
