I'm white and I cried watching that trailer. Racism is despicable, and I'm do glad that I don't have that in my heart. If I was around during the time, I could have done everything I can to help out.
Looks like a great film, I love the stories of those who fought for justice throughout history, its like a beautiful style of poetry in the history of the world. People like Rosa Parks inspire me to fight for the rights of animals, since we live in a world that is generally speciesist, it keeps me confident in knowing that things can change.
I don't see her as part of Black history or someone was against the white people. I see her as someone fought for the human rights... she was someone that stood up for all of us. Racism is something that you have to feel to understand and I am very thankful that I don't have it in my heart. So I can't see her as the first black woman doing something, but I can see her as a HERO that showed to the world we are all the same, and there is no reason for HATE.
Severe Civil rights crimes are committed in Canada by authorities against citizens who try to use their constitutional civil right of not talking to them. This anti-democracy, authority attacks happen with lazer/tazer type guns which work through concrete walls of your home from outside or even the floor above. They rape women with these high power guns, also abuse their access to high ranking officials giving them one side of false story against citizen who questions their abuse of power.
@RosaRawlings626 Well done for not retaliating with rudeness. You've shown dignity and maturity. Many people don't show either of these on YouTube. You don't have to be black to respect black people who fought oppression. Keep it up :-) And I agree with you; Rosa is a nice name
@outinsider sure, but some people are paranoid or they like it cuz it gives them reason to complain about it. people love to complain and point fault in others.
What's being paranoid about ingrained racism manifesting themselves in self-segregation? Why would someone like to be discriminated against? It's bad enough people do not like differences of skin color and do not understand how racism affects the victims and not the aggressor. People do love to complain and point fault in others, but in this case, there is plenty of fault in our racist society if some African American people self-segregate.
@outinsider maybe blacks should try branching out and not make their own little black communities these days when they don't need too. maybe southern states are different but doing this in places like NYC or LA is just plain dumb. some are just handed down this self pity from past generations and family members who may have experienced it in the 60's. times have drastically changed but blacks still say nothing has changed at all. some act like they fear the kkk when they live in NYC.
I do not think they are making little black communities alone. I think some are reduced to failing communities because people are not investing in the inner city and people do not care about the black individual.
but if that is true, so what? doesn't mean you have to vandalize it. you don't have to litter or you can even pick up litter when you see it. pull some weeds, even weeds growing in the cracks of pavement. sounds insignificant but it adds up and especially after a while. facts is some blacks do care about their falling community and most other blacks laugh at them for caring and trying. some black "ghettos" have a very artist village look. go with that.
I was referring to white people and their low social expectations of who a black person can be in society. I am not saying that every black person cannot be successful in a racist society like ours, because many are, but our inner city is failing is mostly due to white flight, and not saying that white people cannot screw things up too, but that only reinforces the expected social failure.
@outinsider if i was black i would wanna prove anyone wrong if they had low expectations of me cuz i was black, or blacks in general, especially if that was a common general expectation. some blacks are way better to live next to than some whites in my experience, but not for the most part at all yet. most whites may be goofy but i think most have learned from the ignorance of past whites. if most blacks refuse to believe that then we are accomplishing nothing.
Many have, I am not dismissing that, but our racist society still values a white person more than a black person. Rather than making every life equal and dignified, our racist society expects black people to fail and acts utterly surprised when they do fail as if they did not expect nor plan it to happen. If white people really learned from the ignorance of past whites, there would not be racism still. It is not the black person's fault for white person's failings.
@outinsider well sorry to say but whites have a better reputation, despite some whites are screw ups. most are not, most all whites have their act together, just like some blacks do but most blacks do not. not all blacks are thugs but many are losers. i don't hear whites blaming blacks for not making it in life, i see blacks saying that about whites. blacks today need to worry about themselves and not care about what whites may think. no black has ever praised whites for anything but so what?
When society does it best to fail a person and acts surprised when they do even though they have directly and indirectly contributed to fail that person, what more can you expect? White people don't need to blame black people for making it in life, because their white social privilege will keep rewarding them and blaming whatever faults they do have on people of different skin color. Also, if white people dominate society, and can reinforce racism, a black person has to take that.
@outinsider what do whites do to make them fail? name one. give them college grants? make token blacks? outlaw school segregation? show me where whites blame blacks for whites problems? like how reverend wright does. you can't blame whites for blacks allowing whites to control blacks future. whites are not blacks care takers. if you can't fight then that's your problem. whites don't allow anyone to control if they don't want. stop sitting & crying and stand up once and for all.
When a black person achieves something of importance, white people think they do not deserve it and expect them to be on a pedestal of perfection. I mean, look at how white America treats President Obama. Or how about in education? Rather than do what they can to make every individual succeed, there is more of an expectation that black students will be unruly and not care about their education, there is an achievement gap. And, get rid of this us versus them mentality.
@outinsider every president gets heat for how they run things, obama isn't the first. if whites say 100 good things about blacks, then say 1 bad thing about blacks, you will say all whites do is look down on blacks.lol. most black kids drop out of high school most whites don't. check your US census bureau on that. and how often do black kids choose to sit in the back of class and be the loud class clown? don't tell us not all are like that cuz we know, but most are doing this. to be cool.
Did Bill Clinton be questioned as intensely as President Obama currently is regarding his birth certificate? Also, it is a matter of not only saying but doing. White people look at failing stats but they don't really do anything to solve them, they just let them be and act surprised when they do when that's what they wanted to see in the first place. White people don't care if black people graduate high school, white people don't care if they pay attention- and these stats manifest.
@outinsider clinton had a birth certificate, did obama get questioned as intensely if he was faithful to his wife? the supreme court (which was all white) passed the civil rights movement, outlawed school segregation, give college grants to people cuz they are black. and you say whites don't care if blacks graduate high school? LOL. what do blacks ever do to help themselves? tell me that. how come only whites start programs to help starving africans? and why are only whites volunteering? gotcha.
If you are not going to read what I write and take it seriously then go back an enjoy the ignorance your white social privilege begets you. Go on believing you are the goddamn saviors of the world even if you are mostly responsible for destroying it bit by bit. It would be nice if ONE white person took responsibility for his or her direct and indirect racism towards people of color. It would do the world a lot of good.
@outinsider what did whites destroy? we invented all the best stuff on earth, cars, airplanes, etc. whites made shows like different strokes, the jeffersons to show how whites can be racist. also look at johnny lee clary on YT. you have failed this debate cuz you won't say how blacks help blacks. you can't, cuz they don't. they destroy themselves. blacks have it easier than anyone these days cuz people are worried about looking racist to them. you want to keep that alive so you deny my truth.
Gosh you are so full of yourself, and I did answer your question. You do what most white people do, blame the victim and let the aggressor, in this case you, get away with racism. There are many blacks who help blacks, ever hear of the NAACP? There are millions of organizations that are headed by blacks who want to help their own. But, since that does not satisfy you, I would rather you go back to the comfort of your self-congratulatory ignorance and end this conversation.
@outinsider wrong again. the naacp opposes racist discrimination, not help blacks better themselves, but to point out racism against blacks. name a program they do to help the black youth of america get a better education and stay out of trouble. there is not one. the naacp was funded by whites to get started as well, being blacks didn't have the money or power. all you had are accusations you can't back up with explanation. other than me proving wrong with points you tried to make.
Fighting against racial discrimination is helping African Americans better themselves by bettering their circumstances. If it was not for the NAACP, Brown versus Board Of Education would not have passed. You want to give African American youth a chance to better themselves? Here's an idea: consider them equal to the chance to better themselves by not seeing their skin and seeing their qualities. Consider thinking that they are equal and deserve the same thing white people get.
@outinsider that's up to the individual. blacks especially don't experience discrimination anymore than anyone else these days. unless they use that as an excuse to be lazy and not try and act like civil rights has not changed since the 50's in the south.
Really? Can an African American easily get a job as a white person today? Do African Americans get easy access to live wheresoever they want to without a problem? When an African American achieves something that he or she deserves, do people not bat an eye? Just because it isn't as open as it was in Rosa Parker's time does not mean bigoted attitudes still don't exist.
@outinsider yes. blacks get jobs easier NOW because of discrimination laws and the token black syndromes. everybody also likes to prove they like blacks and things they like to prove something. the bigots are out there but they have riddled down like the klan since those days. you say it's just as strong like the klan is just as powerful now as then when anyone can see it's not true. people are getting tired of blacks complaining when they have it the easiest, yet join gangs instead to be cool.
@outinsider you have no shred of proof as usual to prove otherwise. all blacks have are excuses why they sit around doing nothing or ruining their life. EXCUSES.
look on YT alone, every single person posting on YT who claims they are black ONLY has excuses to their demise. prove me wrong.
In the meantime, what is your lazy white ass doing here except to feel better about your supposed convictions? You want to be proven wrong? You have neither the intellectual nor emotional intelligence to be gratified that. I am a hard working individual who is motivated by the people who limit me just because of what they see in my skin, but that does not mean I have to take this kind of bullshit that makes The Blind Side look like a good movie.
@outinsider stop lying, liar. you know damn well everyone walks on eggshells around to not offend you cuz of your skin color. you just want to make a racial stand but now there is no reason too anymore. you look for racism but all you find is reverse racism. people feeling sorry for you and kissing your ass. yet you complain cuz you wanna bitch about something racial and all you got is other peoples past to work with.
Of course, no one really suffers like the white man! Woe is he who has the world as his oyster and does not understand that his suffering is superficial compared to the hell people who are not white experience stronger, deeper, and more real. It is the white person who does not want to talk about race because he or she does not want to take responsibility for the guilt they should feel for directly and indirectly participating in social injustices like racism. Take responsibility!
@outinsider see how you gotta try and twist things i never said? i never said the whites have all kinds of problems. they basically cause all their own problems like blacks cause theirs. accept whites take responsibility for theirs and not blame others for them robbing a liquor store. it was the white supreme court that passed the civil rights movement, whites ended slavery and segregation. how is that not taking responsibility? see? you will ignore that or complain as usual it's not good enough
Those white people who did that would not have done it if it were not for the civil rights movement created by African Americans did not use the right means to get those changes made. Also, white people are favored by society, so anything they do good or bad, they will get rewarded in some kind of way for it. And, sorry, that is not enough, that kind of responsibility. Racism in America is nurtured, supported, preserved, and maintained by white people due to social favoritism.
@outinsider just because blacks invented the civil rights movement doesn't mean whites have to accept it if they don't want. whites only allow blacks to have what they have, whites out number blacks majorly. their in your face ghetto violence won't help much. so whites get rewarded for being in the kkk? since when? 60 years ago? lol. so the whole black wannabe thing so many whites follow is not favoritism towards black? lol. 200 years from now blacks will still be down and making excuses for it.
So long as there are white people like you, they will be. When a African American person and a white person say something against racism, a white person gets taken more seriously and better heard. When an African American person says something against racism, especially if he or she has actually experienced it, it turns into this conversation where the African American person is not taken seriously and accused of complaining.
@outinsider people used to listen to blacks complaints and excuses and sympathize with them, but now whites are seeing that no matter how much whites admit to being wrong and try and work with blacks, blacks are still lazy and DON'T TRY. they just complain and make excuses and fuck themselves and blame everyone else. you'll never see whites allowing blacks to ultimately repress them ever, anywhere on this country. that' you're fault. go ahead and give some more excuses. while blacks stay down
The only way I can respond to your racist dribble is by quoting Sir Thomas More, because it definitely applies here:
"For if you suffer your people to be ill-educated, and their manners to be corrupted from their infancy, and then punish them for those crimes to which their first education disposed them, what else is to be concluded from this, but that you first make thieves and then punish them. "
@ilovegreeneyes123 I'm not black I'm an English British dark blondish 13 year old girl. My friends at school thinks Rosa is a nice name. So don't be mean to me.
@ilovegreeneyes123 I'm not black. I'm white! and that is the 2nd time I heard the same name and I'm only 13! Rosa is a very popular name and there isn't much of the name "Rosa." So please don't be rude you might feel the same if you also heard a same name as yours.
this is on tv in the uk right now, im thinking has angela bassett played every black woman in history? shes played rosa parks, tina turner, michael jacksons mum, malcolm xs wife anybody think of anyone else? is she the only black actress hollywood has, im just waiting for her to play michelle obama next
@mouthybitch88 don;t hate on Angela Bassett. the reason she gets these roles is because she's so highly respected as an actress. Not just anybody can play these roles, i mean she plays very important people in african american history
@SkibopDaSequel i don't hate her i actually think shes a great actress, im just making the point its as if theres no more black actresses around when shes getting all these parts. and btw i think its a tragedy she wasn't the first black woman to win the best actress oscar and it went to halle overated berry she should have won it for the tina turner film
I LOVE YOU ROSA PARKS, I HAVE SO MUCH RESPECT FOR HER, IF IT WASNT FOR HER, BLACKS WOULD OF STILL BEEN DISCRIMINATED OR WHO KNOWS, THANK YOU AND RIP ROSA PARKS
I want to see this movie, Angela Bassett plays some very good roles, love her acting. It also saddens me how she hasn't won an Oscar YET, for all the great roles that she played. Such a damn shame! She derves "some" not "one"
i saw this movie last week in school and recamend it to everyone of all ages it is inspiring and touching and telling the story of what happened at that point in time. I give a six out of five stars

@lester5192

@lester5192

@ilovegreeneyes123 I'm not black. I'm white! and that is the 2nd time I heard the same name and I'm only 13! Rosa is a very popular name and there isn't much of the name "Rosa." So please don't be rude you might feel the same if you also heard a same name as yours.

mouthybitch88 1 year ago
@mouthybitch88 don;t hate on Angela Bassett. the reason she gets these roles is because she's so highly respected as an actress. Not just anybody can play these roles, i mean she plays very important people in african american history
SkibopDaSequel 1 year ago
@SkibopDaSequel i don't hate her i actually think shes a great actress, im just making the point its as if theres no more black actresses around when shes getting all these parts. and btw i think its a tragedy she wasn't the first black woman to win the best actress oscar and it went to halle overated berry she should have won it for the tina turner film

I want to see this movie, Angela Bassett plays some very good roles, love her acting. It also saddens me how she hasn't won an Oscar YET, for all the great roles that she played. Such a damn shame! She derves "some" not "one"
