The car you know as the Pontiac G8 is a Holden Commodore designed and manufactured in Australia but with a butt ugly "Pontiac" nose grafted onto the front. Don't feel too bad, you're partly right, we have been putting the 6.2 V8 in them for a while now We also do a supercharged version with 670hp. The engine / transmission is American, the rest is Australian.
Oh and BTW, the new Camaro went from undriveable fiberglass showcar mock up to fully designed and manufacture ready vehicle thanks to the designers and engineers at Holden. Now say thank you AUSTRALIA. Don't believe me? Email Mike Simcoe, the executive director of design at Chevrolet (he's Australian too).
Pontiac's last stab at the Muscle market,its funny that GM yanked the plug on Pontiac and figured the G8 wouldn't sell but as a matter of fact they sold everyone of them and there was even a demand for them afterwords and many potential buyers were pissed they didn't get one. I'd love an all black one with a stick. I'd get the Holden badges for it too. At least this car will sorta live on again in the USA as a cop car based one the Holden Statesman.

The car is an Austrailian made car. Sorry bud. But they really got this one right. Bob Lutz saw how sweet this car was and brought it to the US. To bad Pontiac went away. I fell lucky to own one. (G8 GXP 6M) its now called Project Blade. Making 650 HP. A couple other guys here in the US are even making more power than that. Great car!
the only thing i would worry about is th trans and the half shafts and maybe the axles, trans could last Very long with a shift kit and a big cooler the other two depends on your right foot.
IIRC that blowere has an IC too so coold boost = Win and safe & happy engine
By the way, certainly not the fastest G8 in the world. But not to discredit that it is actually very fast, 130mph is damn good. You can't rebadge a car then say it's the fastest, it's flogged by many Commodores in Australia. BUt like I said, it is indeed fast.
Nice car, shame Holden don't export them to the US anymore. It's very easy to make them fast with a little boost with a driveline that hasd been engineered to take the beating. Does GM manufacture anything over there in a large 4 door high performance car for a reasonable price like this or has a gap been left in the market since this stopped being imported?
The G8 now has 46k miles on it, I put the Aerocharger® twin turbo on at 3k. Still stock with the exception of the turbos. Getting up to 25 mpg on the highway. Currently running 10 psi & making 500 hp and 600 tq at the rear wheels . . . yes on pump gas. In the video we were at 7.5 psi. 10 psi may be too high, the car gets a bit rowdy at full throttle at 40 mph. Good job Holden. See what we have done to a Porsche at Aerocharger®.
@blackllama69 turbos work well on this car. I met a guy at the track last fall with an srt8 charger on STS twins @10 psi. 640hp and 700tq on stock everything besides exhaust. He ran mid 10's at 135. With a more agressive tune the g8 could do it too. It's awesome you can run like this and still take the car to work everyday or drive it on a long trip...
Um guys first of all this is a Holden with a Chev engine in it and imported from Australia, its delivered with a different grill at the front , these cars are all over Australia and have been modified for ages here in Australia with heaps of examples runnning on the street with supperchargers and turbo exceeding 1000hp+ and running 10sec 1/4, this is certainly not the fastest Pontaic/ Holden at all
@GXPFiend Yes the G8 is a Holden Commodore is exactly the same car as they produce and export to America except they call it the R8 , same car, Holden even throw on the Pontiac Grill here for a laugh if you want to buy it so it looks a bit different than evey one elses Commodore on the front end , everything else is exactly the same.

UPDATE: 01.16.10 ~ Car is still together, still has a 100% stock motor and tranny. Nothing has been touched, still racking up miles. So for anyone that doesn't think the GM stuff will hold up, this thing is passing the test. Over 30k miles on it now! These Aerochargers rock! Wicked performance for simple little mods.... No Fuel System, No Cam, No Stall......hasn't even had to come into GM for any warranty work! So Props to GM....take care all.

wow my G8 made 330hp at the wheels stock and it was 117 degrees out when we dyno it. and on a 150 shot un tuned with full weight and a full tank of gas and stock street tires went 11.90@113mph. so with a full tune and 175 shot and slicks should be low 11's or high 10's.

we are running 11.7 with unopened 6.0L with no turbo full weight .
with twin turbo we are seeing over 1000rwhp with factory cams and manifolds
record of unopened single turbo ls1 is 9.1 sec .

@GXPFiend Yes the G8 is a Holden Commodore is exactly the same car as they produce and export to America except they call it the R8 , same car, Holden even throw on the Pontiac Grill here for a laugh if you want to buy it so it looks a bit different than evey one elses Commodore on the front end , everything else is exactly the same.

UPDATE: 01.16.10 ~ Car is still together, still has a 100% stock motor and tranny. Nothing has been touched, still racking up miles. So for anyone that doesn't think the GM stuff will hold up, this thing is passing the test. Over 30k miles on it now! These Aerochargers rock! Wicked performance for simple little mods.... No Fuel System, No Cam, No Stall......hasn't even had to come into GM for any warranty work! So Props to GM....take care all.

@94civiclxgrey Are you kidding me? Do your research!! The Holden Commodore is designed and Build in Australia for the past like 30 years! What are you going on about?? Get your facts right! The V8 engine and gearboxes are the only parts on this car that was designed in America. I live in Australia and have been the the Holden facility where the VE commodore was designed. If the Commodore was build an Designed in America why is it not being sold there and why haven't you got the new series 2??

wow my G8 made 330hp at the wheels stock and it was 117 degrees out when we dyno it. and on a 150 shot un tuned with full weight and a full tank of gas and stock street tires went 11.90@113mph. so with a full tune and 175 shot and slicks should be low 11's or high 10's.
