I am Canadian (french Canadian ;_; ) and I want to apply next september for the 2013 JET program and I looked at most of you JET related vids and I must say it helped a lot. I am still very affraid of not being picked, but also to be picked and to not do the job correctly !!! Anyways, thanks for the nice videos :)
@violinasama Applying to the JET Program was a complete waste of my time. Getting accepted into the program (or job) is impossible. Admissions staff is harsh, in that they make you wait at least a year, for absolutely nothing.
I'm 15 right now, my Japanese teacher introduced, and recommended the to the class this program. I was fascinated and bewildered, most likely I'm going to apply in the future. Being a plain male into japanese culture such as purchasing anime merchandise, reading manga, watching anime, it's basically what I do most. Since these hobbies are the norm in Japan, I'm afraid if I were to include these hobbies whilst applying, discourage my chances... Thank you in advance for your advice.
@saskut Applying to the JET Program was a complete waste of my time. Getting accepted into the program (or job) is impossible. Admissions staff is harsh, in that they make you wait at least a year, for absolutely nothing. If rejected, they will not give you a reason for the rejection, and tell you to wait until April to discuss how to apply for next year. I bet most of the accepted ones' essays weren't college level. Although cliche, it's about "who you know", not "what you know".
I wish I could have found this before I sent in my application. I look through my statement of intent and I feel content with it. However, I wish I could have still tweaked a few sentences. I think I leaned on the more professional side and in doing so I believe that I made it less memorable. I hope that I'm just over thinking it. Your videos have proven inspiring for me in this process so I just wanted to express my gratitude.
You are so helpful! Applications won't be released for another week or so here in Canada, so I've just been watching your vlogs to get a sense of what to expect. I'm sure you've helped out a lot of people with your videos, thankyou!
Your essay looks awesome compared to some of the ones I read on the forum websites. I'll have to read a few more and get started on mine. Hope it's successful, the whole application process sounds a lot harder than I initially thought.
@rosec1981 I think the most difficult part of the application process is the fact that it takes SOO long. The best advice I can give you is to just be yourself and not worry about it too much. Impossible, I know, but it will definitely save you a lot of stress.
hi, im applying for JET this year, and fingers crossed il get accepted, your vlog has really eased me about writing my statement of purpose, which ive started already, so thanks very much =),
@lvarndell Thanks! I started early too. Just don't stress out about it too much, JET makes a bigger deal about the application/selection process than it should, in my opinion.
Thanks dude. I wrote mine.
If I make it I'll post mine for the public as well.

with the limited page length is a good strategy to have your reference letters focus on a topic you didn't cover in the SOP.

the two page minimum is it better to go beyond that or stick to the required length?
