  • Wish my pc was powerful enough to play this

  • @ashleyhol try with the supermodel emulator is plays great and with sound, full 60fps

  • This should be released on psn like daytona usa

  • i,m downloadin this game for mame now :D

  • would you fucking turn on the audio!!

  • Thus amazing game is at my local video store, all the mates go down to the video store to play it!

  • OMG it was this game that i started liking it on the arcades on that time dreamcast was like a ps3/xbox360

  • The interface look an awful lot like Daytona USA.

  • back in the day sega was the king of racing games. cant count all the quarters i waisted playing daytona usa in the arcades.

  • shame that they never made this for any console

  • I always play this at my caravan site i kick arse

  • this is from 96? it looks like a PS2 game! that's way ahead of it's time!

  • cool music

  • Sega should release this and daytona 2 on xbox live arcade, Both games have never been released on any home console a bloody crime in my opinion.

  • @SCRATCHMASTERDAL There has been a rumor that SEGA could be relasing a collection of all of the best racers, called SEGA Racing Megamix

  • @sonicsuperstarprince

Are you serious, how strong is this rumor, If its true im def buying a copy, Also what format would you prefer?

  • @SCRATCHMASTERDAL From what I know, SEGA themselves said they were teaming up with Sumo Digital working on a project of all their racing glory. They also said if it is worked on. It would hit stores either this or next year. I believe they've said that PS3 & 360 would be confirmed if it's worked on. But I believe the Wii might get a piece of that action. I would prefer 360 over Wii.

  • @SCRATCHMASTERDAL

Thanks for the info, fingers crossed, i would prefer the 360. Cheers mate.

  • GT5 fuck you!!! i want this on my console!

  • Why wasnt this ever ported to the Saturn or Dreamcast

  • SCUD? This isn't SCUD: The Assassin!

  • This song is in wangan midnight (anime version).

The name is "Side by side".

  • love the music, so kitch

  • I dont remember a game where you had to beat 39 opponents at the same time...

  • Hmmmm it's just Daytona with different cars/tracks/etc. I have ALWAYS wanted to play this though, ever since seeing it in official sega saturn magazine all those years ago!

  • to be truthful i can complete this track without a single crash with the high speed car all you need to do.... is slow down at tight corners!

  • Have you ever noticed how a lot of sega racing games had a rolling start? I wonder why that is.

  • I remember thinking how amazing this game looked in arcades. It was really slick back then.

  • this is a great arcade game

  • That Car Is sooooooo Fast Guys

  • exceptional achievement for a game of 1996 !

  • Is there a high quality recording of this on actual hardware?

  • Lol I think I played this in Chuck e' Cheese

  • It looks like some of the hotels on the side of the track made their way over to Sonic Adventure in the first stage..

  • a little secret to this game is letting off the gas and slowing down to the right speed to drift, but be careful when piloting the Mclaren F1 on this game, it takes a lot of practice to finesse it, trust me, i learned this the hard way.

  • the dreamcast can do this

  • @aubba Friggin Xbox 1 couldn't do this...

  • @aubba Yes it can, the Dreamcast is more powerful then Model 3 running this game. So Xbox 1 could run this game easily.

  • This game uses a similar engine from Daytona USA but more refined steering.

  • In 1996 it used most powerful Model3 board with 166MHz PPC version (most used 100MHz) and double Real3D-Pro1000 chipset generating 1M filtered texture-mapped polygons per sek with antyaliasing , thats why DC was to slow,

  • @Sc0tsman33 The Dreamcast was MORE powerful then Model 3. The Dreamcast runs at 200Mhz and uses Power VR graphics. The exact same technology as Sega Naomi which came AFTER Model 3.

The Sega Naomi just has double the Ram and Graphic memory which helps a lot. But the Dreamcast

was still more powerful then Model 3.

  • @ojideagu Naomi is weaker than Model 3.

  • @sangwria What have you been smoking LOL Naomi came AFTER model 3 and is far more powerful. Look up the specs. Model 3 was old when Naomi came out.

  • @ojideagu It came after but it's weaker. If crazy taxi, sega rally 2, sega gt look better than scud race to you, change glasses

  • @sangwria OMG Sega Rally 2 and Sega GT are MODEL 3 games Einstein!! Sega Rally 2 is an old Game. Naomi didn't come out until 1998-1999.

Do you want me to post the Specs of Naomi compared to Model 3?

  • @ojideagu sega gt on model 3 ? lolol, still no dreamcast/naomi game looks as good as scud race

  • @sangwria Model 3 Specifications * Main CPU: IBM PowerPC 603 @ 66, 100, 166 MHz * Graphics Chip: 2× Lockheed Martin Real3D/Pro-1000 * Sound CPU : Motorola 68EC000 @ 11.3 MHz # Main RAM: 8 MB # Audio RAM: 1 MB

  • @sangwria NAOMI Specifications * CPU: Hitachi SH-4 CPU with graphic functions and 128-bit SIMD @ 200 MHz (360 MIPS and 1.4 GFLOPS) * Graphic Engine: PowerVR 2 (PVR2DC) * Sound Engine: ARM7 Yamaha AICA 45 MHz (with internal 32-bit RISC CPU, 64 channel ADPCM) * Main Memory: 32 MByte

     * Graphic Memory: 16 MByte * Sound Memory: 8 MByte

  • @sangwria

    NAOMI: Polygons: 5 Million polys/sec

    Model 3: Geometric performance: 1 million polygons/sec.

  • @ojideagu Still, it looks better on model 3.

  • scud race is better than basketball!

  • Great News a new pcb game virtua striker as come on MAME World Website :D.

  • I will never see this game emulated damm! the PCB is not working :(.

  • Check out my facebook page to try and petition Sega to bring this out on PS3 and Xbox 360. It's in desperate need of more support! Just look up Scud Race on Facebook.

  • Sega was the THING back in those days !!

  • We need a Sega Model 3 Emulator... (imitating Patrick from Spongebob) REALLY, REALLY badly.

  • Man, I used to love this game when I found the arcade console

  • I hope that Sega figures out how to release this beloved classic on Xbox Live or something like that. If they announced tomorrow that this game was coming back, I think we'd all dive for it like a bunch of wild animals. LOL

  • @divooriginale Sega is releasing Afterburner Climax for xbox live and PSN. Maybe there is a chance they will release more arcade games.

  • Scud Race 2 will be nice.. (Bad english,i'm russian :/)

  • this song is great! but funny! :D

  • Comment removed

  • Magnifico Scud Race e poi solo la musica ti gasa al massimo, quanto vorrei giocarci :D

  • Was this originally running on Model 3?

  • No,this is an emulation on Mame 0.119.

  • I know, I just was wondering if I remember correctly, this was the first game Sega developed for that arcade board.

  • Hey skeleton081983 have you ever tried running Star Wars Trilogy Arcade on MAME? I'd be interested to see what it looks like with your overclocked PC specs. My puny PC runs it at about 1 frames per second, with very dodgy texturing.

  • but i love this game i always play it at the arcades

  • in this song it sounds like a woman's orgasm lol..

  • thats the good all sega days when sega ruled.

  • Comment removed

  • I played this on Holidays in a Arcade Center. It was awesome!

  • The sense of speed in this game was amazing!

  • wait a sec: i played this before back in the day! awesome!

  • Wow on 1994 they make such good games.

  • This game needs to be released on a model 1,2 and 3 compilation disc, or on digital download at least.

Come on sega, start releasing some new compilations instead of the same old megadrive one's.

  • @lee1973n

    maybe they have license issues

  • @lee1973n There's a Dreamcast comp on the 360...

  • my computer can run this at 0.000001 frames a second! awesome fun

  • In this game I can win against the evil

  • How to drift

Tap the Brake (Alt), move steering (arrows) and press gas (Ctrl)

  • it's a shame this was never released for home console:( an xbla port would kick ass though

  • @Atlantefan88 hell yeah, they port every shit to consoles, but not the good games like Ocean Hunter or L.A. Riders

  • @Atlantefan88 There's a Scud Race tech demo on the Dreamcast on YouTube. The game was cancelled in 1998.

  • Check it out at 0:34, its Sonic in his car and that would be a Sega Saturn game known as Sonic Drift

  • looks like it plays like daytona usa

  • My Favorite Thing to do on Sega GT is to Cause the other cars to Spin out or Crash into the wall. Hey i enjoy a good Crash thats why i buy BURNOUT games

  • EA don't deserve a penny of our money. Their games are crap.

  • And about the vid, Its amazing to see a 1996 game look this good, even at this day...

I love this coastal/palm tree tracks of sega games.

  • Yeah I totally agree with you! Sega are great at producing palm trees and coastlines. I still love listening to "last wave" while entering my initials and watching the palm trees silouete in the original Out Run :)

  • Yeah dude! agreed.

Go play Turbo Outrun and check out that MIAMI track, is awesome! Whole lot of palm trees, sea, and all that coastal stuff :).. in a beautiful convertible F40!

    sega rocks!

  • Model 2 emulator prove that is possible to emulate these games at good framerates without needing a NASA computer to run it on mame. As far as I know, mame don't make use of pixel shaders... that would be a great assist on the graphics processing...

Model 2 emulator can run Sega Rally with a steady 60 fps on any P4 with a geforce FX card, for example...

All we need is a dedicated Model 3 Emulator, with the same feautres (even better the same team) of the model 2 emulator.

  • Problem is, the original Model 3 board (1996) is 5 to 10 times more powerful than the Model 2 board (1994). It takes alot of CPU power to run Model 2 emulation smoothly. Fast Model 3 emulation is a few years away.

  • Yes, MAME is a 100% software emulator, it not uses graphic card support, and if somebody try to create Voodoo 3DFX and Pentium1 software emulator, the result will be the same.

  • I may have misunderstood you, but I believe there is a pretty good 3DFX/Glide emulator which uses DirectX and can run old games in hi-res - dgVoodoo.

  • i love sega racers for one simple reason. ott gameplay its awesome

  • This video is sped up very slightly-the first lap lasts 37 seconds on the video (0:15 to 0:52), and 38.7 in the game. Some of this guy's other videos, though, are sped up more. You need an amazing computer to properly emulate Model 3 games...

  • No... you need a proper emulator. Technically, any comp these days could run these. ^^

  • Wooh! Uh! Wooh! Uh!

  • Honestly, that reminds me of one of the songs I hear on Cruis'n USA.

  • Do you mean House Special? Cruis'n USA is an awesome game.

  • yeah when you're racing down the los angeles freeway you hear that song.

  • What are you doing to make it look like 60? Frameskip while recording then speeding up the video?

Basically what kind of speed do you get when you run this thing? I could never get past like 25% with this game at frameskip 6...

  • Does he have to remind you the previous comment? He has a freaking godlike computer! Quad Core overclocked 4 GHz and 4 GB RAM! I'm sure he has to use a water-cooling system or so (if not liquid nitrogen) so it doesn't heat up too much. Ah, what wouldn't we do to stay forever fans...

  • MAME wouldn't come close to using 4gb of RAM anymore than it would 1gb. Quad Core is also not relevant with MAME.

Also, I have the same rig OC'd to 4.05 and I don't get near those results (maybe half, and I have been using MAME and doing custom builds for years). This video is sped up. I have also compared it to my real SEGA SUPER GT board as well.

I know the poster never said it was or wasn't sped up but everyone running around saying it's perfectly emulated is far from true.

  • Hmm... Seems it's so slow just because MAME eats up too much than it needs. After all it's 0.119. We're already at 0.128 (revision u6 as I'm reading), too bad M3 emulation is broken since then. Hey, the boards of back then didn't needed THAT much power... we weren't even talking of GHz back then but I dunno if that can be related.

  • If the video is sped up then why are the seconds on the clock tick at a normal rate?

  • The video was sped-up, to see the car vibrating the frameskip have to set to 0. But with that frameskip the game runs very slow even for a 4ghz. For example in my video i had to set frameskip 5/10 - 6/10 for a "good enough" speed with a 3,6ghz cpu . With a 4ghz cpu i think the results are not too different.

  • wow!like Daytona usa LLLLOOVVE IT!!!!!!

  • hi, just for curiousity: isn't overclocking a Quad core 2.6 ghz to 4.0ghz overheat or wear out the CPU over time. I know it is not recomended, but in your case, What are the consequences??What do you advice??

    Thank You.

  • Where r u playin' this at?

  • @sonicsuperstarprince: At home. It's an emulator. MAME all the waaaay!

  • It runs 60fps?

  • so awesome...almost there.

  • thx man and also can u make spike out vid? pls
