Mac hardware and PC hardware is the same hardware once they jumped the Intel wagon. Windows fixed that hardware issue when they went with signed drivers help out by manufacturers getting pre release OS versions to make compatible drivers. Windows 7 is one stable OS.

Just do this test: Run all three. Buy you a Mac, and see which one you use the most each and every day. I guarantee you'll be loving the Mac more than a Dell or HP. I did the test myself, and I'm living proof it's true. Once you go Mac, you never go back.
thepieman, you must not have had BootCamp and OS X Leopard. You can run all PC games now on a Mac. You don't even need a PC any longer. Macs also run other operating systems like Ubuntu Linux also. You can have three OSes simultaneously. I got tired of it though. I only have two now. But, if you love games, buy a Mac and be rid of all that spyware, adware and bloat, man. :) You'll be much happier.
I have a mac and I don't see the big deal. Yeah they look visually cool, but what do they run that any common person would want? They dont have any games (WOW doesnt count). The only thing they have on windows is the "look" and virus protection. I mainly like macs for garage band, which is free. The only windows computer I have is a super old one so I'm not gunna compare specs and handling w/ those two.
OSX86 runs great on supported hardware. Microsoft could not sue Apple if they released OSX for all PC's...because MS don't control the hardware.
The reason they won't do it is because Apple will lose all control over the quality of the end user experience. OSX would run just as badly as Windows when Jimmy installs it on a PII with 64mb RAM.

They handpick their hardware components, so that they can minimize the number of drivers. Apple only gives you what you need. They don't give you overkill, so you can brag to all your little friends. If Apple licensed OS X to PCs, it would be a big threat to Microsoft. In fact, Microsoft would probably find a way to sue them almost into jail before they'd have a chance to take stronghold, because MS has so much money and power that they can do that. They'd sure find some way of stopping it... which is probably one of the reasons Apple doesn't license OS X to PCs. They also want to stand out and be different.... and licensing OS X to PCs would ruin that image.

My excuse for owning a PC with Windows before (telling my Apple friends when I left the family) was "I need to stay on top of the technology to fix them." But, I don't fix machines any longer, so I ran back to Apple. I had OS X, Windows and Ubuntu on here installed on my Mac, but I found I used only OS X 98% of the time. That says it all right there. :)

When i said apple ram, i meant those apple certified (or watever its called in the market) rams sticks from Centon, pny, kingston etc.not the drop down box rams from apple's site. The reason Mac is so very stable compared to PC and runs better is because there's less hardware to support with drivers. Apple handpicks their own hardware, and they don't have to cover for hundreds of different video cards, drive, DVD, etc... They just handpick it, and only support that hardware profile. Sort of like these guys are saying in this video.
also, plz dont diss dell and hp just because you had bad experience with them. The only thing they can be blamed for is if they sell faulty hardware, which, they will make up for with warranty. cronaldo, I have never had really bad experiences with any computer. I went to school to fix them and network them. I can make a PC run just fine. However, when you buy Dell/HP, you buy bloat-ware. That bloat-ware is a part of the Dell or HP package. Dell is worse than HP from my experiences. However, that bloat-ware is useless. Most users will never use that bloat-ware. With a Mac, they only give you what you need and will truly use. Dell/HP give you bloat, and not aluminum but plastic.
Apple's Nvidia gaming card for the Mac Pro tower can play any game with no lag. thepieman, you might want to do some research on what I'm about to say. These days, not many games even use the maximum of 512 megs of video RAM to run without lag. A gig of video ram is overkill. There are very few games on the market today that will take advantage of 1 gig of video ram. It's pathetic. OVERKILL!

Why can't you admit that to many people PC's are better. OS X isn't compatible with many games for one. It also is very hard (and I think illegal) to case mod a Mac and/or upgrade internal components.

Apple didn't lie about the performance of the powerpc G5 chip, it was on par if not better than the chips from intel. Only a mac user would know this. They only made the switch because IBM wasn't too keen on innovating the processor for powerbooks. The powerpc is now being used in the XBOX 360 & Playstation 3.
Actually a bigger reason they made the switch is because PowerPC is reaching the end of its useful life as the architecture as at the moment. The chips are powerful, yes, but they also get very hot and are not nearly as efficient as their AMD/Intel Counterparts. A G5 in a PowerBook? No thank you, some people might actually Want to have kids.
IBM, which was making their G5 processors stopped making processors for home computers and continued making chips like that found in the Bluegene and some servers also Xbox. They had 64 bit architecture in PPCs before Intel had it in PCs. Yes you could buy it online separately but that would cost a fortune, like Apples boohoo and also XP didn't have a 64 bit OS until after Mac OSX came out. Apple leads, other companies follow, remember that. "Some might want to have kids," but please, not you.

If Apple wanted to prevent users from installing OS/X on a pc, then they would have done something by now in some fashion like the iPhone or Activation method. True, drivers are the main issue keeping this from totally happening. No one would want OS/X to be like windows.

Yeah you can but it takes about a day or two of work... I'm running xp and jas os (Darwin/Mac OS X86) on a HP dv1000... At the install it gives you optional drivers for nvidia... idk if it will work or not for u cause i'm just running a 900GMA, 1.5ghz, and 512 mb of ram but it runs really fast, smooth, and stable...
Firstly, what does boot camp have to do with Apple releasing their operating system for non-apple computers. Boot camp only runs (by my knowledge) on MacOSX. As for MacOSX86, I believe that they referred to it when they said "Some people have cracked the operating system".

mac sucks period. there was a hacking competition with a mac a xp pc and a linux pc. who ever hacked each computer got to keep it. well, mac was first to get hacked(suprised?), then xp was second, linux never got hacked. apple ia a piece of shit. thats my opinion and i have 10 years of computer experince also. and vista sucks period. people only like macs cuz they look good visually and they do. i gues its the contemporaory look.

tacojohn, once you go Mac, you never go back. I had XP, OS X and Ubuntu on my computer, and OS X is just better and more pleasurable to use. A Mac is more fun to use than a PC, too. Just do this test: Run all three. Buy you a Mac, and see which one you use the most each and every day. I guarantee you'll be loving the Mac more than a Dell or HP. I did the test myself, and I'm living proof it's true. Once you go Mac, you never go back.

thepieman, you must not have had BootCamp and OS X Leopard. You can run all PC games now on a Mac. You don't even need a PC any longer. Macs also run other operating systems like Ubuntu Linux also. You can have three OSes simultaneously. I got tired of it though. I only have two now. But, if you love games, buy a Mac and be rid of all that spyware, adware and bloat, man. :) You'll be much happier.

I have a mac and I don't see the big deal. Yeah they look visually cool, but what do they run that any common person would want? They dont have any games (WOW doesnt count). The only thing they have on windows is the "look" and virus protection. I mainly like macs for garage band, which is free. The only windows computer I have is a super old one so I'm not gunna compare specs and handling w/ those two.

OSX86 runs great on supported hardware. Microsoft could not sue Apple if they released OSX for all PC's...because MS don't control the hardware.
The reason they won't do it is because Apple will lose all control over the quality of the end user experience. OSX would run just as badly as Windows when Jimmy installs it on a PII with 64mb RAM.
They also have no answer to Exchange/Outlook.

They handpick their hardware components, so that they can minimize the number of drivers. Apple only gives you what you need. They don't give you overkill, so you can brag to all your little friends. IF you want to do that, buy you an 8 core Mac Pro tower with 16 gigs of RAM and some mean Radeon video cards. Calling Steven Jobs evil, and then you have Microsoft Windows installed? If Apple licensed OS X to PCs, it would be a big threat to Microsoft. In fact, Microsoft would probably find a way to sue them almost into jail before they'd have a chance to take stronghold, because MS has so much money and power that they can do that. They'd sure find some way of stopping it... which is probably one of the reasons Apple doesn't license OS X to PCs. They also want to stand out and be different.... and licensing OS X to PCs would ruin that image.

Macintosh suck because of the fact that you have to spend aproximately 45% more money for the same parts, and they dont run any faster.
If you're intention is video games, video editing, surfing the net, downloading porn, PLAYING SOLITARE!, then you better be looking at a Windows based PC instead of a Mac because Mac computers are built for business.... as in typing, and faxing letters, you know.... that kind of stuff.

facebook, if it makes any difference, I've been in this show since I was nine years old. I'm thirty-six now. I'm also certified. My excuse for owning a PC with Windows before (telling my Apple friends when I left the family) was "I need to stay on top of the technology to fix them." But, I don't fix machines any longer, so I ran back to Apple. I had OS X, Windows and Ubuntu on here installed on my Mac, but I found I used only OS X 98% of the time. That says it all right there. :)

thepieman, oh yes a Mac can! A Mac Pro tower is more customizable than a PC any day of the week and built better, too. The RAM board just slides out. The video card and all the hardware is accessible. You need to check out a video on the Mac Pro tower. You can get the bare bones and inset any of the video cards you want. As for games? The Mac Pro tower is just as fast as those machines and will run any game without lag, thepieman. You are sooooo wrong! This is sad! Dude, wake up!

cronaldo, Macintosh users can buy their own APPLE Ram from Crucial and Kingston and save tons of money. They don't have to buy Apple RAM. The only thing is... if you send your Mac into a repair center, just stick the Apple RAM that came with your computer back into it. So, that's why you're not telling it like it is. As for HP and Dell? That's called a bloated, Vista nightmare made of plastic. Macs are made better. Period. No bloat. They run better, too. They run Vista better than a PC.

cronaldo, same thing with PC. No computer has solely a single company's hardware inside them. The reason Mac is so very stable compared to PC and runs better is because there's less hardware to support with drivers. Apple handpicks their own hardware, and they don't have to cover for hundreds of different video cards, drive, DVD, etc... They just handpick it, and only support that hardware profile. Sort of like these guys are saying in this video.

also, plz dont diss dell and hp just because you had bad experience with them. The only thing they can be blamed for is if they sell faulty hardware, which, they will make up for with warranty. cronaldo, I have never had really bad experiences with any computer. I went to school to fix them and network them. I can make a PC run just fine. However, when you buy Dell/HP, you buy bloat-ware. That bloat-ware is a part of the Dell or HP package. Dell is worse than HP from my experiences. However, that bloat-ware is useless. Most users will never use that bloat-ware. With a Mac, they only give you what you need and will truly use. Dell/HP give you bloat, and not aluminum but plastic.

Apple's Nvidia gaming card for the Mac Pro tower can play any game with no lag. thepieman, you might want to do some research on what I'm about to say. These days, not many games even use the maximum of 512 megs of video RAM to run without lag. A gig of video ram is overkill. There are very few games on the market today that will take advantage of 1 gig of video ram. It's pathetic. OVERKILL!

I think the ONLY thing a mac has good on it, is GarageBand... And yes, if you play a lot of games (like myself) you would need a PC, because I cant think of ANY games for the Mac besides Halo 1. Apple didn't lie about the performance of the powerpc G5 chip, it was on par if not better than the chips from intel. Only a mac user would know this. They only made the switch because IBM wasn't too keen on innovating the processor for powerbooks. The powerpc is now being used in the XBOX 360 & Playstation 3.

Actually a bigger reason they made the switch is because PowerPC is reaching the end of its useful life as the architecture as at the moment. The chips are powerful, yes, but they also get very hot and are not nearly as efficient as their AMD/Intel Counterparts. A G5 in a PowerBook? No thank you, some people might actually Want to have kids.

IBM, which was making their G5 processors stopped making processors for home computers and continued making chips like that found in the Bluegene and some servers also Xbox. They had 64 bit architecture in PPCs before Intel had it in PCs. Yes you could buy it online separately but that would cost a fortune, like Apples boohoo and also XP didn't have a 64 bit OS until after Mac OSX came out. Apple leads, other companies follow, remember that. "Some might want to have kids," but please, not you.

If Apple wanted to prevent users from installing OS/X on a pc, then they would have done something by now in some fashion like the iPhone or Activation method. True, drivers are the main issue keeping this from totally happening. No one would want OS/X to be like windows.

It runs at native speed on my Dell laptop. The reason it does this is because the hardware inside it is the x86 architecture that has been used in PC's for decades, and has now been adopted by Apple. The inside of your Apple is the same as the inside of my PC.
This is why the Apple development kits are Dell PC's.

The OS of a PC unless I'm mistaken, is designed to work with the hardware inside the PC. If it wasn't, I would have trouble replying to your post.

Yeah you can but it takes about a day or two of work... I'm running xp and jas os (Darwin/Mac OS X86) on a HP dv1000... At the install it gives you optional drivers for nvidia... idk if it will work or not for u cause i'm just running a 900GMA, 1.5ghz, and 512 mb of ram but it runs really fast, smooth, and stable...

Firstly, what does boot camp have to do with Apple releasing their operating system for non-apple computers. Boot camp only runs (by my knowledge) on MacOSX. As for MacOSX86, I believe that they referred to it when they said "Some people have cracked the operating system".

Honestly, anyone who thinks OSX will ever be released for generic PC machines, just doesn't understand how dumb an iudea that would be for Apple.
The guys in the vid are not even close on their explanation. That ain't why OSX won't come to generic PC's.
Apple already did the clone thing and it a dumb move then too.
