  • played this abel a few times really solid

  • Awesome matches; I have a question:

I noticed you never use non-EX FBA or your Super. Is that because Abel can roll to avoid them, or do you not use them in general against anyone?

  • Joz could answer better than I could. But Abel can punish any of Vega's wall dives with ultra. Too hard to land the super because Abel's jumping fierce stuffs a lot of dives, and Vega can use the meter better for other things in this match.

  • Hi am Joz. Against Abel I never use FBA because he owns Air-to-Air with Jumping Fierce. It's impossible to get around that move. If you whiff a lot of FBA's then swerve in for a surprise one that's the only time you can really catch him. He's very susceptible to Izuna Drops however because he is a big character. I never use my super for the same reason: Abel can stuff it every time. Sometimes you can outmaneuver him in the air, but only if the positioning is right.

  • I never use my super. It's a horrible move with very few set ups. It's a move you should never use, period. One super combo is 330 damage: one jump in to an EX FBA hit confirmed combo is about 320. would you really want to waste 3 more meter for 10 more damage and a much more difficult set up?

Against certain characters I use FBA alot: Sagat, Akuma, C. Viper, E. Honda, Dhalsim, Bison, Balrog, Seth, Rufus, Gen, El Fuerte.

Never use FBA on Vega, Abel, Zangief.

Chun, shotos, and others are OK.

  • Hey Joz I really appreciate the input. Do you find doing normal FBAs works against better players (minding the choice to cross up or not, obviously)? Or do you rely more on Izunas? I have a lot of difficulty pulling off consistent Izunas online.

  • You need to be able to use the Izuna on standing opponents to make it a threatening mix up. It's very effective because if you can reliably izuna it's a 50/50 mix up. I spend lots of time in training practicing izuna drops on standing opponents. When Vega uses EX FBA, watch where Vega's hands initially strike out into the opponent. You need to line up his hands as they come out like that to connect with the Izuna.

against some players you can build lots of momentum, regardless of who they are.
