  • So I was able to make one noise but now I can't even make a noise and It's been a day since then. Did it take you a long time to learn how to make a sound? because I feel like a total loser since I've only been able to make one noise.

  • Woow that is a great talent sir thanks for putting a video that can teach us how to do it :D

  • leafflute, i tried soo hard to do it right, but i cant get a sound. even with a candy wrapper it doesnt work for me. i realy want to learn the old art of the leafwhistle.

    can you help me please?

  • @darknesswolf222 Try to understand what I said on this clip. Practicing is the secret.

Do you have chance to come to Taiwan? Then I can tell you face to face.

  • @leaflute thanks, i will pratice a lot, and i will watch the clip more times to understand.

but no, i have no chance to go to taiwan. but thanks a lot.

  • @leaflute ありがとうございます。 I'll try different materials and see what kinds of sound I get. I'll keep practicing. こつこつ。

  • it sounds really high pitched so far. does plastic always sound like that in comparison to leaves?

  • @WickedTatsu Yes you are right, candy wrapper got higher pitch. Try any thin material to find a control-easier and sound-better one.

  • i'd been wanting to learn this for quite a while. i'm trying with a candy wrapper since all the leaves have fallen off the trees. so cutting it oval helps? i tried a few times once with cherry-plum leaves, but noticed the edge isn't smooth and gave up. most of my other trees have stiff leaves, so i didn't try them. thanks for this tutorial, it really helps.

  • HOW LONG DID IT TAKE FOR YOU GUYS TO DO IT

  • @onimusha717 When I was a beginner, 3 days got a first "pi~", 7days got 2 or 3 different notes, 30 days I can play " Little twinkled stars".

  • im having problems with doing this im not sure if the leaf im using works its a leaf from a tangerine. does it work or is it just me

  • @onimusha717 Tangerine leaf is one of my favorite choice. You may select thinner one that easier to get a "pi~" sound. Or try a plastic paper cut into oval shape.

  • @leaflute THANK YOU ..........DO YOU HAVE ANY TIPS BECAUSE IM NOT GETTING MY PI SOUND IM GETTING A BI IT SOUNDS A BIT LIKE A FART BUT I DONT EVEN THINK ITS COMING FROM THE LEAFS VIBRATION

  • @onimusha717 Keep the air to your lip point, avoid side leak. Side leak got fart sound.

  • Thank you this is the best leaf wistle instruction video i have found ANYWHERE. I really feel that i can do this now.

  • @PaiShoMaster Thanks for kind comment, keep practicing, you'll master it soon.

  • What a great sound you really have a special talent we use to try a lot of things for sound but not this one.......

    LorraineG.

  • Thankyou soo much, its soo clear now.

  • i did that when i was dating a girl like 2 weeks ago in a park

    AND SHE KISSED ME

    SOOOOOOO COOL

    GUYS USE IT

  • I guess flute players won't have much of an am brochure (spelling? Musical terms are so confusing) problem here! Go unique instruments!

  • I blew so hard cuz i was frustrated to the point i cut the leaf Lol

  • Thank you so much for posting this video!

  • by the way my "pi sound" is different

i mean everytime i blow, my pi sound is always different

i can't blow in one piece! it is always a different pitch and i don't even know how i did it

all i can do is a different pi sound but i can't make a different pitch like the tune of

DO or RE or MI just the pi sound but different sound

  • @willieteng1 Tense your upper lip and strengthen the breath air, you will get higher pitch. Loose your lip and weaken the air, you get lower pitch. At first, you can not get Do, Re, Mi, exactly notes. Practice every day you'll overcome in a month.

  • @willieteng1 yea.. me to my pi sound like fart....

  • hey!!! i can make a "pi" sound and i can make it longer!!! thanks to you!

    but i can't curve it

    how can i curve it?

    sorry for late comment

    i forgot my account

  • sometimes... i'll just practice more.for the meantime make a video of yourself teaching us how to play a leaf.

thanks :) your the best musical leaf player in the world :)

  • @willieteng1 Before I can find someone shoot the video, will you practice with a mirror to see your lips' shape and leaf position correct.

  • um sometimes i make a "pi" sound but i got lost but i can do it again so all i need to know is how to curve it and how to make different pitches :)

  • @willieteng1 Great, do you make a long "pi~" yet?

  • um... i'm 13 years old and i live in philippines and our language is filipino but we study english too. still i can't understand want you mean in this video like curving the leaf? how can i do that? and how to cut the pitches like making a C (DO) D (RE) E (MI) F (FA) G (SO) A (LA) B (TI) C(DO) sound. i think you know those sounds.

so please make a video of yourself teaching us how to play a leaf. so that i can understand what you mean.

    thanks!

by the way your songs are great :)

  • @willieteng1 Dear Willieteng1, do you make a "pi" sound already?

  • i use a mine different tehnique

that is with a bit harder leaf that i cut in half and put the one piece

on top of the other and i think thats much easier to play

maybe i think that sometimes the quality of sound is worse than this tehnique but its

    MUCH easier for me

    :)

  • can a bannana leaf work?

  • @eeveelover1121 Yap! Choose thiner one.

  • Nevermind i tried today on a real leaf and i got my pitches correct = ) tyvm i can play on a leaf now u have my gratitude T.T

  • Wow, this video is awesome, thank you. Before when i was trying on my own i couldn't get a sound now only 15 mins after watching this i got the sound I'm just not to sure about how to adjust my pitch

  • Thank you for teaching your English was perfect.....just saying at the end add an "s" to congratulation Thanks again!

  • 00:46 was a epic

  • Would basil leaves work well? They sort of fit the description and are the only ones that I have. Please Answer.

  • so much gonna pla yuukimaru grass whisp song when i have learned this:P

  • I blow on the side and it make a long sound but not the same pitch so it sounds similiar to plastic....because i can'r find a leaf like that.

  • thanks for the video cuz i now know how to play the flute leaf

  • i really want to learn this but the problem is i can never find the specified leaves.

  • @mickymousemad Buy a bag of potato chips, eat chips, cut the bag into oval shape, blow softly as instruction.

  • i wanna learn how to do this!!!!!! xD so difficult

  • CAN SOMEONE PLAY ORACION ON THIS

  • @Pokewes11Pokemaster I'm actually trying to. After I learn how to play the leaf that is.

  • @Pokewes11Pokemaster ;to:(CAN SOMEONE PLAY ORACION ON THIS) I REALLY want to play Oracion. I also will need the pitches, tone quality, and correct leaf. SOMEONE GET ME A FICUS LEAF! (It would be awesome to play this on a peppermint leaf, I've been practicing with basil!)

  • @dragonsember doesnt everybody? XD keep going for it though!

  • @dragonsember Sorry for late answering. Basil leaf is softer, easier to get the first "pi" sound. After you can get "pi~" stably, try different leaf to find better sound quality.

  • @dragonsember HELL YEAH. I WANNA LEARN ORACION ON THIS TOO! *High-fives*

  • hey is it supost to sound like a farting noise of sme sort when you first do it? and is it suppost to sort of tickle a bit?

  • @phoenixsong38 Yes, the vibration tickle your lip. Wide air gets farting noise, concentrate and narrow air gets "pi~". Wish you get pi soon.

  • thanks man!!!1

  • ani tips of making difren pitches?

  • @e05symbols After you get "pi" sound constantly, you can make different pitch by change your lip's tension.

  • @leaflute err...wut u mean by by changing lip's tension?

  • @e05symbols

Do you already make a "pi" sound? You succeed 50%

Make it a long "pi-----------" You succeed 60%

Tighten your mouth during playing long "pi---------" you can uplift the pitch at the end. You succeed 70%

Then you can play simple song such as "Mary had a lamb" You succeed 80%

  • my leaf broken :3

  • Any hints or tips on how to make the "pi" sound? I can't get it.. :(

  • @KisukeUraharaHat No particular tips, Somewhere in between "A" and upper lip has a sound point. The tip is passion and patience. It took me three days to get the first "pi" when I was a beginner.

  • Very good! I would try but..... It is currently 1:07 at night.... Haha, I loved the instructions. For somebody who proclaims he is terrible at speaking English, your instructions were very clear!

  • Thanks I'm starting to get it just need to figure out my pitches and it will be more then noise ha ha. Thanks for the awesome instructions !

  • you deserve a thank you,. thank you

  • Great video! I'm still trying to find my 'pi' sound but this video really helps. I've been trying to learn the leafflute by myself and from instructions around the web; but this is the first good clear explanation! Thank you very much for uploading this and i'll try to do my best with learning the musical ways of the leaf by your instructions!

  • OMG THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!! ive been looking ALL over youtube and i didnt see a SINGLE tutorial!!!!!!! thanks man U r THE best!!!!!!

  • The songs you play are beautiful. Thank you for the inspirational music. I have listened to other leaf player posts on YouTube but think you are definitely the best. I tried making sounds following your very nice instructions and was able to put out a few notes. It sure took a lot of effort tho. Thank you for sharing your talent. Please consider making a CD available for purchase. Would you travel and do you take requests for performances?

  • Thank you very much!

  • Leaflute, i wish i could learn too play like you do but i coundn't in a million years know way you are great i love your music and u do a great job with the Paynes, they are very sweet friends of mine i met on the computer glad i did now i get to hear your sweet music it is great i love it very much and so do Marty.God Bless u always

  • Dear rlwalker2, Almost any leaf can be played. No oval shape? Trim it. Beware non-poisonous. Soft one easy to get a "pi" sound. I play no particular plant but match 3 conditions. Give a try and God bless you.

  • Fantastic!! Thank you for this posting. You music is amazing

  • That was a very good video! I'm trying to play my slightly rough leaf now, and it is somehow producing a noise similar to a musical note. Once spring comes, I will be able to find a better leaf, but for now, my rough oval shaped leaves are all I have.

  • Thank you so much for this wonder! I am trying the instructions...which are done very well...Thank you so much for sharing with us all.

  • My husband and I both have made noises with leaves but never knew you could play a tune. Thanks for this video.

  • As soon as I can get the proper shape leaf I will try. I play chromatic harmonica :) Thank you for this..it's very cool.

  • You did well my friend! Nice instructions!

  • Dear LarryKrause, Thanks for friendly commenting. Did you ever try? I wish this channel will become a Forum of leaf playing. People exchange experience here.

  • Excellent video!
