If you mean down mk into shining knuckle you're probably releasing mk too soon during the process making the counter happen. Releasing a buttonpress makes you do special moves too. So try either releasing mk to input the super command,or keeping mk pressed and hitting another kick button. Hope that helps.
One advantage if found with a-groove rock over k-groove is that you can rc the teleport move (qcb+roundhouse), making it really easy to set up against people. i.e. ryu does a hadouken, rc qcb+rh-> 360+p->xx->cc. Rcing makes almost all his special moves more useful (besides the counter). Just d and running is still good. Hope to see you at evo.
just one question, on the counter set ups that you showed, isn't it really risky to do the command grab on a character like Sagat or any character with a decent wake up move? Cuz like, if you do the counter, won't you just eat an uppercut if you try that on Sagat in a real match?
Not sure which set up you r talkin about. Just block if u think an uppercut is coming, then punish it. A missed command grab is a lot safer than a missed uppercut.
ya, I am using a stick, but it shouldn't be too hard to do on a pad. To do a 360, do hc to up + any punch, any direction. I use lp, so if I messed up, a lp move comes out instead.
oh ok , i always used hp for the 360 in which caused me to jump everytime i wanted to use it , ill try it your way though , i am a noob lol just got this game like a month ago or so for the ps2 so this tutorial is perfect for me ......
i find it harder to do the command grab with rock. I have it down with gief, raiden, and the others. But its just harder with rock. Im i going nuts or do you find it a bit harder too?
I think he might have less delay when jumping compared to zangief and others. Not sure how that works but I'd really like it if someone could clarify that for me. If you're using a run groove you can buy a little more time by doing a quick run into it.
why is landing the 360 toss with ock so hard to do?and how were you able to do that while not jumping ? were you using an arcade stick instead of reg controllers?
wanna learn another trick for a free grab?

what's does an hc to up actually mean ?
YrUlUKkiNAtM34 4 years ago
hc = half circle, so f,d,b,u+p (or b,d,f,u+p. It doesn't matter).

It only works when you're near the corner, and it's still pretty hard. You dont have to be all the way in the corner, but a little close.

After the 360 grab, is there enough time in N-groove to pop stock and then do the qcfx2+k super?
