What you said is true, but realize that there are four main schools in Tibet, and two other minor schools (not subschools), and that since the 5th Dalai Lama leveraged outside political power to take over, Tibet has been ruled by the corrupt Gelugs. This song is from the kagyu school, and the 16th Karmapa was a very, very sincere Bodhisattva who had little to do with politics.
