Well if you would look before you said something stupid, you can clearly see that the blade isn't straight. A shortened katana blade appears to be almost straight.
@taihuu25go Indeed it is. It's a fake sword. Anyone with brains and some knowledge knows this. Also WHY the hell would you carry something that would instantly identify you as being a ninja if you were trying to be covert? Much like the ninja suit, its all fake. Real ninja would more likely blend in and walk through your front door as a servant because no one cared about servants. They were invisible in plain sight. Do we pay much attention to the man serving us our burger? Nope. Same theory.
@1x93cm they never looked like that tho man with the straight blade and the square guard in fact ive taken chinese MA extensively there is no sword like that if your trying to compare it to the jian youre just crazy, i cant speak for korea but they have even less evidence than japan
@AntiChosonGroup Part 2; because the edge cools faster and metal expands when it cools, the curve is created, since the spine cools slower and can't expand at the same rate as the edge. If no clay was applied, you would get a perfectly tempered STRAIGHT SWORD. Get your facts straight before you make an ass of yourself.
@AntiChosonGroup the japinese had a sword called the chokuto which was straight. Its a predesesor of the katana which replaced it because the curved blade is much more lethally efficent then a chokuto in mounted combat. Dispite being a Japinese weapon the chokuto was actually forged in china. Sadly however these days they are really rare
my first question is ....??? is iga ryu ninjitsu different than bujinkan ninjitsu with master hatsumi................and my secong question is..........does japan favor europe more than america?
i think that ninjutsu is like kung fu in some things... like the teaching... each master brings his knowledge in his way... in the way he learned, so, you can name it taiji quan, shaolin, hung gar, or whatever, THAT IS YOUR KUNG FU....
i think that ninjutsu is the same... there was a lot of ninja clans in Iga, so, hatsumi is teaching the way he learned from his master, and if u seek a genealogy you'll see the origin of his knowledge. there are another ninjutsu schools, like Hattori, Genbukan and a looot more, the important thing is that you have to train with your 100%, giving the best of yourself and that's it...
maybe i didnt answered all your questions, but maybe it will help you in choosing a martial art :D the important thing is the same in every martial art
I believed that Ninjato was a product of hollywood from the 80's until I saw the 60's Jidaegeki 'Shinobi No Mono' which Bujinkan Soke Masaaki Hatsumi helped in with key Ninjtusu techniques, which made the show highly realistic, Ninjato similar to this appeared in it, asin squared tsuba, short yet straight blades etc, though I doubt that this weapon was your default ninja blade.
There is no evidence that a straight "ninja-to" sword ever existed. This is strickly from a sword collector's point of view. This information is easily available on any site dedicated to real antique sword collecting. By sword collecting site, I mean from an art collecting point of view, certified blacksmith, etc.
If you ever do come across one(highly unlikely), hang onto it. It'll be worth a fortune.
@xCyberJackalx well default ninja blade would be anything easly hidden and a sword is just a tool so it could be made much cheaper than say a katana and hey if i kill a samurai and he happens to drop his sword woot loot for me
but in all honestly there is no default blade hell some ninja carried bokkan wooden swords light and not illegal for peasents be seen with
yea they have existed for many centuries. The early Ninja had not the technology to curve there blades early on in there past. so they had to have straight swords. and pluse in the Ninja mesuams in japan they show ninja-to, onw that is many centuries old. both in the iga and koga mesuam.
Actually, when ninja clans were founded, they already knew how to make curved blades. Ninjato, as a ninja-only weapon is a myth.
Truth is that long time ago before, in Japan they really had straight sword with dual edge, however they later started to craft only one edged swords, and it was a long time before ninjas started to exist.
@MarturashiClan the curving of the sword is from the tempering ninja swords where not as well made so they could be mass produced no heat treating invalved no sword fight sword kill if it brakes your eather dead or looking for a new one
heat treating a sword isnt hard.. all you do is do the clay coating and heat it right, that not THAT hard all u ned is to know when to quench, and a forge and whatever bar of iron you happen to have, the hard part about katana making was the folding.
Most of the Shinobi didn't even use swords most the time right? I thought they usually used farm tools and always traveled light as they could which mostly meant no swords.
ok i asked this a million times to find a answer but does anyone or the channel owner know anything about a real traditional shinobi zukin hood as shown in the video,id like to find some more info on this.A picture set or video on this would be great.
thats the point, they use chemicals to give a patina, they also sell aged shuriken for these museums but they're not true historical items, jinichi kawakami is a reenactor not a real ninjutsu practitioner

hatsumi was denied entry into the Nihon kobudo Shinkokai because there is no evidence to support his claim to soke...
and hatsumi's sword isnt straight... its a ko-katana...
fullsized handle... and a length between a waki and katana. faster draw and easier to use indoors..
practical... but it doesnt make his school or his claims legitimate.
