For some reason, those two Christians (one of them holding a Bible, shown before Masked Man and Tonto mount their horses) remind me of the Westboro Baptist Church.
ROTFLMAO!!!! I am in tears... I can watch this trailer over and over again... I remember the first time I saw this in 1983... I was over my cousin's house for a sleep over and we were up late watching HBO... back then they would show these movie shorts to fill time for the next movie... it was about 2am and "Thank you Mask Man" came on... we woke up the whole house... my aunt was pisssed... we laughed so freakin hard... this one 7 min clip had us hurting the whole morning... so glad I found it.
I first saw Thank You Mask Man when it premiered at the 1970(?) San Francisco Film Festival. Years later, I met the film's producer, John Magnassen, who very kindly gave me a copy of it on video tape. I lost the tape, but I've never forgotten John, Lenny or the Mask Man & 'Tanta.' Thanks for putting it online.
Thanks so much for posting this!! I was a huge fan of Night Flight in the early 80's. Easily the most subversive televison programming I came across in middle America back in the day. I always loved it when they'd play this clip and Firesign Theater's cult classic "J-Men Forever"
? What do you mean what the fuck is this? This is Lenny Bruce.
Whenever you hear your parents or if you are young enough grandparents compare a comedian to Lenny Bruce (ie, "well he's no Lenny Bruce")...well know you know what they mean.
@mspookie WOW! First off, Lenny Bruce did a VERY FUNNY bit here, period. Second, everyone else who watched this vid Laughed at it (and EVERYone else I have EVER shown this to). Thirdly, what in all creation does LAWRENCE WELK have to do with Lenny Bruce? OMG, please get a life, laugh a little, and wake up to TODAY'S world mspookie- everyone else has far-and-away already passed you by! Haha haha THE MASKED FAG MAN... AIN'T THAT A KICK IN THE ASS! haha haha haha haha Cheers to all who enjoyed!
This is the best quality version on youtube right now. THANK YOU! The best thing about Bruce's recorded performances was that he always changed it up. Like he always said "I'm not a mechanical comic."
Each time he performed a satire, it was always different. This example is no different.
WHOO DOGGIES!! That's a flashback to end em all! I remember seeing this when pay TV was just starting. I was * and I'm still going "laaah!" sometimes! (like that hick in the film)
Used to see it almost every afternoon in the late 70's in Vail, CO at a place called "The Slope". It was a great apres-ski hangout showing mostly ski flicks, but every hour or two there would be a chant to see TYMM.
Now no need to wait, available on tap right here and every bit as satisfying as cold draft beer!
Man, I haven't seen this clip in so long! I was about 7 when I first saw this, and it still cracks me up to this day! I just HAD to check and see if it was here on You Tube! Glad I found it... it's a classic!
Weren't those festivals fantastic? I've been trying to find lots of the insane animated clips I saw there on You Tube. Cross your fingers. I'm delighted to have found this and that thankyoumaskedman was kind enough to upload it. Thank you, thankyoumaskedman!
I first saw this on TV in the late 80s or early 90s. A friend got the last few minutes of it on tape and we used to watch it over and over and over again. Too funny!
Because I'm geared for it.....

I saw this at a ski slope bar in Aspen Co in 1976. We went there a couple of times a week to see it. It had the place rolling.
Lenny Bruce was WAY ahead of his time, lol.
