I re-built my 1971 T120 this year from a full tear down that I did 13 yrs ago and then boxed..The gearbox is the "leaf spring " version so I had a few weeks riding round with 3 gears ( lots of fun) until I stripped it down again after researched the blogs to find out the varios cam plate positions. I also discovered how great it was to make my own gaskets and use grease instead of cement..lots of attempts but same gasket...NOW OK and NO LEAKS....YEAHHHHHHH
Hi J, I knew you could re-fit the cogs better than Mark Evans and in less tries, you do it just for fun LOL. Roll on No 11 can't wait, and I havn't even got a T120 but I do like to see a good mechanic at work, so if I find one I will watch him LOL, Only joking, You are the man!! I really like the way you can think up tools, stands etc, to help with the jobs you are doing at the time, that shows real inginuity. Keep em coming pal Dave
Great series of vids! You make it all look so easy. My mainshaft is leaking some so I'll prob. be tearing down for that this winter. Your gearbox method is the best I've seen so far. The new camera looks great. Sound is good too. You
.... I didn't notice the sound being worse, be interesting to see how well it does with some wind blast lol. I want you to get finished so we can go for a blast, and then again, I don't because this series of films is so good. I'm sure you could author a DVD and sell a ton on the RAT and via here!
It's such a pleasure to watch you work and you have a real skill in explaining as you go. The sum of the knowledge contained in your uploads is impressive to say the least. You make a mean cuppa too! The new camera seems sharper and the colour balance is better (but it hasn't been a few miles on your helmet yet!)....
Bugger John, you must have spent seventeen shillings on parts at least now.Dont break the little leaf spring in the gearbox cos you cant get one.Bet you have a few in the garage like i have though. cheers.Geoff
John... you Dick! LOL. You've just demystified the T120R gearbox for me, and hundreds of others that will follow. I've seen a few vids of the tear down and rebuild but yours is more simplified. I love it. Way to go. Cheers to you mate.
awesome man,,thanks for posting.

you can change the seal with the box intact, if that's the only problem,
a smear of silicon on the sprocket splines also helps.
It's easiest with the motor on its side.

kettles always on! I might keep the new one as a workshop camera for now,
though when I've finished this rebuild it hopefully won't have much to do!

That made me laugh mate, it really did :-D 17/-
If the leaf springs are getting hard to find I'd better start looking for one
before this one gives up the ghost!!

Hi Gato :-)
