  • Some of ReRe's beat Columbia Period work. Her prodigious vocal gifts coupled with Ray Ellis' arrangement makes what might have been an unbelievably hokey song otherwise, work.

  • i grew up listening to this on vinyl... i always associate my happy christmas mood with this song <3

  • i love me some Aretha.... she is truly the queen of soul

  • Great song ! I've always liked it !

  • I cannot wait for Christmas! Less than 3 more months!

  • we had this album when I was a kid. It also had some great songs on it. I wish I could find this on CD.

  • @carterboy66 so did we i love it brings back lots of happy memories!

  • Love this song, one of the best christmas songs i have ever heard. Aretha does a fantastic job on this track, cant imagine anybody doing a better job than her with this song.

  • Wow! Aretha had clear, perfect pitch, and tone waaaaaaaaaay back then...impressive.

  • Aretha's pitch was perfect throughout the entire 60s and 70s, and through the first half of the 80s. She had a miss period in part of the late 80s due to cigerettes, but bounched back beautifully in the 90s. The weight she's gained I think has effected her voice negatively, but she is sounding more and more better everytime I hear her.

  • I totally agree with you. The chain smoking affected her voice throughout the mid 80s but she came back in the 90s. But the weight she gained recently messed up her voice. She really soesnt sound the same. I wish she could loose the weight so she could sound better.

  • When Aretha Franklin and Barbra Streisand signed with Columbia Records in 1962, Doris Day was not only the top female movie star but she was also the top female recording artist on Columbia! It was around the time they signed that Day recorded a Christmas album.

  • i've never heard this. it must be from the columbia years.

  • Aretha is the best singer in the world. IMO

  • @toddarm2006 i agree Aretha can sing but I'd have to tie her with Patty Labelle those two are iconic!

  • You know..this is the first time that I've ever heard "Kissin by the Mistletoe" by Aretha...It is a truly great song...Many thanks for the post Oneloveatatime.
