  • Cheers for the help! reccomending you's to every1!

  • Thanks you helped me a lot

  • tnx man!!! XD

  • Best guitar teacher ever!

  • Explain it very slowly at the begining. You explained many times, fast, I could not follow. Explain slower and tell sometimes one note sometimes half note. You confused me by your current method.

If I get it at the very beginning, you don't have to explain so many times.

  • i loved it....thnx

  • 6:45 DID he just smiled on his own play?

  • uhm what are the numbers for> like 022000 etc

  • @iplumzer The numbers refer to which frets you should press down on on the indicated string. The first number refers to the low E and the 2nd number the A string...so on and so forth. So open low E string, 2nd fret A string, 2nd fret D string, top three strings, G, B, and high e, are open. Hope this helps!!!!!

  • yeah good lesson man. cheers

  • wow! thanks for the help!!! :)

  • good video, thnx!

  • wow this is reallyyyyy helpful thank you, but is it possible to get the actual proper notes, basically i want to learn what the notes are for actual music

  • i have just started to learn to play........my problem is that my fingers that hold the chord really ache ! is it normal or am i gripping it incorrectly? would certainly appreciate some advise

  • just keep practicing. its normal for your hands to be sore when you first start. after your hand gets used to being in that position your fingers will develop calluses (mind the spelling) and you'll be able to hold those chords for as long as you want.

  • your hands will get use to it

  • thank you so much for the lessons................they are huge huge help!

  • you look really sick. like you have a cold

    lol

  • David, you're the man ! ... thanks a lot for all the wonderful lessons ... great help !

  • And to people who are confused. the "x" are muted strings. You don't necessarily have to mute them and play them dead, you just don't need to play them at all.

Good example is the D chord. You dont need to play the 5th and 6th string. Sometimes it's hard to mute 2 strings with your thumb, so the better way is to just dont include those strings while you strum.

  • i have a guitar && i dont even kno how to play it!!!!!

i cant even get my notes straight... then when i hold down the nots it wont play anyTHING

    I REALLY NEED HELP!

  • you need to hold down the string as close to the fret as possible, like right next to it.

  • its still not working...

oh duh i have nails on (french tip)

&& its kinda hard playing with them on

  • you can't play guitar if you have long nails on your fretting fingers. you gotta either trim them or you wouldnt be able to play at all.

  • yeah i figured that!

    but thanks anyway

  • me too :[

  • lol

  • make sure the guitar is in tune. I've just played less than 1 yr but have already been through several guitars. A good guitar has a beautifull sound even if you can't play well. a cheap guitar will always sound lousy and just off. you gotta spend a little dough but it pays off big time, I can't put my Martin down!!

  • it is in tune but i think i have 2 go get it tuned up again just in case... but im not tryin 2 be nosy but how much did you spend on your guitar?

  • ~$500 on a seagull M-6, ~$800 on a Martin dx1rgt, great sound with either one and I can't really play much yet

  • That's true, i started with a cheap guitar from walmart and it sounded like crap. When I actually bought a good quality guitar I could here and feel the difference right away.

  • for the c and d chord u don't need to play one or 2 strings but how can i get them to sound true? i can't get em to sound right when i try to mute with thumb

  • For a c chord, the only string you dont need to play is the sixth string. Put your thumb over it to mute it. If you're having trouble with that, then just don't include the sixth string to your strum.

  • omg its easy at the beginging but it gets harder who agrees with me

  • you got that song in my head

  • Wo0w

    awesome learing video

  • Don't be confused Cauldra..You are right that some chords don't need to be played all the strings,For instance , the C chord we play from(ADGBE) not the low E.

What he is trying to do here is to show beginners how to strum correctly and properly..

    Keep practicing,u will get it

    have fun

  • thanks man this vid will help me HEAPS!

    u da man david

  • This is very helpful, but I'm a little confused. The D, and C, chords, it shows that you don't play the first string or two. Is this right, or is it ok to hit them strings as open? If you are not supposed to hit those strings, is it something I will be able to do with practice?

  • he is right, you do not play those strings. Don't worry, you'll get it! ^_^

  • I fail at guitar

i used to know all the cords but now i dont

    im a BIG fail :)

    x

  • thansk man. i'm just starting and learning my cords was boring with not learning a strum pattern.

  • I Loved This Lesson... Theres So Much You Can Do With This Strum Pattern... And Its Easy To Learn And Perfect Really Quickly

  • capullo

  • You the man thanks going to the site soon

  • great lesson

  • im so visiting there site!

  • ur lessons are the best :]

  • Hey David can you do a video on the Tone Knob of a electric guitar. I'm not really sure where to dial the knob. It sounds like it pushes your sound to go flat or Sharp depending on which direction you turn it. What should I be listening for or is it all just opinion of what everyone considers good tone?

  • just do what sounds good to you and plat around with it for different sounds

  • THANKSS!!!!!! this is very helpfull

  • yeah!!!lol

  • awesome video

  • Cool, its like remembering a code for like playstation, thanks DT!!!^_^

  • awesome video.. it has inspired me in my guitar journey thanks :D

  • Tune down a half step and you've got Every Rose Has It's Thorn as far as the G-Cadd9 goes. But D and Em are in there too. The lesson you did for that song was really good. It's a shame you had to take them down. Good lesson. Great for beginners.

  • awesome teaching David!

  • Made me think of "Wish You Were Here." Working the strumming pattern has always been a problem.

  • awesome man thanks !

  • thank you for helping me

  • very nice, i like that one a lot

  • david is my fav techer

  • Have they posted any lesson on how to play guitar and sing at the same time?

  • theres no lesson for that

    just practice it

it sonly possible if you are good at multitasking

  • I'm only good a delegating :( :)

  • its not really that simple. there is a reason that even insane guitarists like clapton switch to rythem playing when they are singing and let someone else play the leads. its very, very hard to keep 2 tunes at once, and it really is a gift. watch hendrix do it, its part of what made him so amazing.

  • For me this kind of style or playing strum patterns as opposed to playing lead and shredding is like second nature for me. But when I try to do the lead, its really difficult and doesn't come as easy. Why is that?

  • i know that but what i meant was there is no lesson for learning how to do that

the person asked for a lesson but there is none

it is SIMPLY a matter of being able to multitask

it is SIMPLY just a skill and there is no way to teach it

  • thats poison almost like poison - every rose has its thorn

  • thats what it is... he just cant say it because of copyright laws

  • btw wasnt this already posted with the girl (forgot name) playing? :o same pattern

  • i know :P

  • This one has 4 more strums.

    Hers was d/d/u/u/d/u

    His has d/d/d/u/u/u/d/u/d/u

  • meh , i dont know

    i wasnt really concentrating

  • very helpful thanks

  • good vid
