@iplumzer The numbers refer to which frets you should press down on on the indicated string. The first number refers to the low E and the 2nd number the A string...so on and so forth. when ur strumming up do u tilt the pick at an angle to where it can go up the string without accidently plucking 1 string on its own....or do u just have to keep the pick at the same angle in both up and down strumming

just keep practicing. its normal for your hands to be sore when you first start. after your hand gets used to being in that position your fingers will develop calluses (mind the spelling) and you'll be able to hold those chords for as long as you want.
And to people who are confused. the "x" are muted strings. You don't necessarily have to mute them and play them dead, you just don't need to play them at all.
Good example is the D chord. You dont need to play the 5th and 6th string. Sometimes it's hard to mute 2 strings with your thumb, so the better way is to just dont include those strings while you strum.

For a c chord, the only string you dont need to play is the sixth string. Put your thumb over it to mute it. If you're having trouble with that, then just don't include the sixth string to your strum.

Hey David can you do a video on the Tone Knob of a electric guitar. I'm not really sure where to dial the knob. It sounds like it pushes your sound to go flat or Sharp depending on which direction you turn it. What should I be listening for or is it all just opinion of what everyone considers good tone?

its not really that simple. there is a reason that even insane guitarists like clapton switch to rythem playing when they are singing and let someone else play the leads. its very, very hard to keep 2 tunes at once, and it really is a gift. watch hendrix do it, its part of what made him so amazing.

you can't play guitar if you have long nails on your fretting fingers. you gotta either trim them or you wouldnt be able to play at all.
