This is really a lovely birthdaypresent. I'm sure Mark loved it. The pianoplaying is beautiful. I learn to play piano so i hope i can play like that some day. I love The Turtles, i love the music. I'm so happy when i hear it. A band has really succeeded when they can reach out to people like that. Thank you!
If this really is Howard Kaylan,I just wanna say that The Turtles are awesome!!!The thing that made you guys great was something that is under appreciated in music and that is how positive and happy your music is!!Makes you feel hopeful and good and that is what music should do!!!Turtles forever!!
This is realy weird but cool. Weird AND cool I mean. I dug yer Turtles tunes and the Zappa stuff. You all was funny. Would love to join in on the sparking activities.
very cute video!! I was born in 1979 and have always liked the Turtles Songs. And thanks to Youtube I have learned so much more and become a big fan. I ecspecially like the 60's footage of Howard. Howard looks like someone I could just walk right up and talk to. and always smile. I also want to Add my son's birthday is June 22,2007...how funny is that :-)
Eddie I just saw zappa plays zappa do Billy the mountain..can you please come to montreal on their next tour with them theyre good but they need you two for some help on that song
If you see the Merry Franksterz you will understand why we need an electric cooled pony harness with fuel injection! my sense of humor was formed at a young age, very influenced by you guys. I have not seen you in concert "YET"...I would love to play or just sit in! You guys are awesome.
I am so happy to get a reply from you Howard. I know a guy who supplies your stage and sound in Florida John D. Did you see the movie (Superbad?)..one of the charactors makes me think of Mark!..Please look at The Merry Franksterz on you tube I am the guitarist and would jump at a chance to play with you guys! I can do Franks voice like no'one else and we have a pony too in the video! I would do a backwards (virtual backwards sommersalt if you responded once again!)..just to let me know if yousaw
Fuch sonny n cher fuch cap n teneeal fuch leno and mchartne fuch tiger woods and Lewis and mrtin and clrk...the best dynamikest duo izt....Mark n Howy...to see the electric pony harness go to The Merry franksterz on youtube.....may all of your birthdays be happy. Thanx for the songs and laughter. hope to meet ya sometime........ZP
Thanks for the kind words, Flooker--you have placed us in heavy company. The electric pony harness is still working. One day, I'll bring it out again.
I met Howard Kaylan at a Dierbergs supermarket (of all places) in Chesterfield, Missouri about eight years ago.
We both were in the deli department and I thought he 'looked familiar.' I asked him if he was the former lead singer of the Turtles - and he said yes (!).
He had married a local disc jockey and had moved there. We talked for about ten minutes about the Turtles and '60's music - a great conversation!
I STILL tell that story to people and they get a big kick out of it...
Been a fan of Flo & Eddie since I heard my sister's 45 of 'It Ain't Me Babe'. From the Turtle years to the Mothers 'Billy the Mountain' & beyond. Right after they left The Mothers, saw them open for Argent & The Doors (minus Morrison) in New Orleans for all of $4!! What a show...Ansley Dunbar on drums & even Don Preston on keyboards with his incense sticks burning...still seems like yesterday! Greatest dual vocalists in history of rock music!!
Put some more videos up. You and Flo were awsome with frank zappa. its too bad you guys couldent do more with him. I got a chance to see the turtles in schenectedy at proctors the other week. i really thought you guys were great. and histerical. i went back stage and got flo to sign my dads 2 zappa albums.
This is the funniest clip that I have seen in a long time. I can't believe that the TV industry yawned at their pilot. If it was anything like this, it would kick the snot out of what is on today.
I guess that we're not "TV friendly"...besides, the television audience doesn't want to think--they want pretty faces and vapid personalities. We got the last part covered anyway. Thanks for the kind words.
This is the funniest clip that I have seen in awhile. I can't believe that the TV industry yawned at their pilot. If it was anything like this, it would have kicked the snot out of what is on today.
What a beautiful tribute. These guys should both live long happy, healthy lives. They've given me so much inspiration and joy in many of their incarnations and brand names!
I don't even care which one was/is FLO! They will always be my ideal chick backup singers!
A capella choir at Westchester must have been very musical! Our Miss Lafferty made it so at Memorial High in Houston.
I'm not yawning. Funny, brilliant monologue. Happy birthday Mark ! Can you do a saxophone video? You're already my favorite piano player. How about a spoken word/solo piano version of "Guide for the Married Man"?
This was a strange, but funny video. But Safety in Nashville Tennessee?? In 95 my family & I were on the freeway just above Nashville, when Road Rage befelled us! Some redneck MFer, tried running us off the road becuz we were doing the speed limit (at nite) & as he passed us took out a pistol(?) & shot at us! We didn't get the license plate, but we remembered the plate as TN & a P/U truck & kept a weary eye out when it was time to pull into the nearest Waffle House.
thx for posting....howard had me cracking up too, glad to see his humor is still just as funny as ever...and happy bday Mark. do a reunion tour...its very "the thing to do now"....lolz
its a good one....ya have to understand the turtle himself....funny dudes AND they can really sing a tune....The Rock n Roll Hall of Fame has to answer to the TURTLES!!! you baby!!
Funny...but really moving too. All the crap they've been through, still friends, still making each other laugh. Here's to the next 60, guys, and thanks for giving my childhood an amazing soundtrack.
i said, have you noticed, in the last year, how i've changed? i've changed!
