I met Howard Kaylan at a Dierbergs supermarket (of all places) in Chesterfield, Missouri about eight years ago.

We both were in the deli department and I thought he 'looked familiar.' I asked him if he was the former lead singer of the Turtles - and he said yes (!).

He had married a local disc jockey and had moved there. We talked for about ten minutes about the Turtles and '60's music - a great conversation!

I STILL tell that story to people and they get a big kick out of it...

Been a fan of Flo & Eddie since I heard my sister's 45 of 'It Ain't Me Babe'. From the Turtle years to the Mothers 'Billy the Mountain' & beyond. Right after they left The Mothers, saw them open for Argent & The Doors (minus Morrison) in New Orleans for all of $4!! What a show...Ansley Dunbar on drums & even Don Preston on keyboards with his incense sticks burning...still seems like yesterday! Greatest dual vocalists in history of rock music!!

This was a strange, but funny video.But Safety in Nashville Tennessee?? In 95 my family & I were on the freeway just above Nashville, when Road Rage befelled us! Some redneck MFer, tried running us off the road becuz we were doing the speed limit (at nite) & as he passed us took out a pistol(?) & shot at us!
