  • Watching all these eventing videos makes me want to hop on my horse (who is an lovely little eventer) and train till I collapse. Then get back up and keep training. The only reason I don't is I don't want to hurt my horse. But still, I watch these videos before lessons, then when my coach says we're going to trot and canter and drill in nothing but two-point, I just bare my teeth and say "let me at it"

  • Do you mind if I, also, take a few clips from this for a video I'm making please?

  • 3:07 a horse spooks in the background

  • Nice video, I bet you will enjoy this video too

Search for "The Eventer" on Infinite Jib's Channel

  • whats traing level is it like small jumps + xc and easy dressage??

  • @punchjumper3744 Training level is jumps 3'3" high and wide. The dressage is equivalent to first level dressage

  • I love eventing! Simply the best discipline on this earth. Nothing could ever compare to how amazing it is.

  • i event but i was just wondering what height is training, as i am in the uk and we call them different things :)

  • @angelFAB60 if she lives in the us it's 3'3" (:

  • @blueberrypancakes123 ahh thanks, so about 1m, so like a be100 pre novice her in the uk :D

  • If eventing was easy football players could do it(: i event at novice getting ready to move up to training level at my next show. Any person that says this sport is easy, needs to actually do it.

  • Either give me a website or can you explain the differences between the trots?

  • eventing is not a sport! its too hard for a sport ;))

  • Great vid! Nice work.

  • Congrats on your awesome video. it really shows what a difficult sport eventing is, for both horse and rider. they both must be athletes as well as partners working together like a well oiled machine. Beautiful!

  • I rodeo (barrel race) And I very much like your video :D Eventing looks like fun an I do hope to try it some day. My Trainer told me that if a properly trained barrel horse can be a dressage horse. One day i will find out. lol. But great video!

  • My dad is finally letting me do eventing! So I just started training at a new barn and she wants me to get confident with the horse I'm riding and stuff. So we are just working on stadium jumping and dressage. But im doing a 5 day clinic with her in July. And we are going to go xcountry schooling. I am soo nervous because the horse im riding is kinda hard to stop when she gets excited. Does anyone have any advise for me please!

  • Love it. I wish one day i can do this. I'm a collage student, so do you think eventing would take me away from studying? How many days in average you train??

  • if only you could just enter Cross country, my horse kicks ass at it but sucks at the other two... we always get the worse scores in Show jumping and the average dressage scores, but we never get a single penelty point in Cross country... grrrr

  • @RobsAvatarNerd OMG Same!!!!!

  • I just want to do cross country, forget dressage and stadium jumping! I've always wanted to do cross country and I think I will one day. It involves so much speed and energy and freedom. Dressage is too boring and stadium jumping is too restricted for me.

  • rackets, bats, balls, the 100m sprint track, bikes, etc,.... they don't have a mind of their own. that 1000 lb animal not only has a mind of their own but there unprintable . gotta love running full speed at a solid jump or jumping higher then your head, also those animals have to be crazy enough to jump that high yet calm and responsive enough to complete dressage! (:

    you just gotta stick it

(watch my video called stick it ) :D

  • Phillip making it all look easy!

  • heyy can i use this for a video im making? ill just take bits and pieces from it and ill give u full credit!

  • @PiperMel13 surely

  • Boy can i handle it :) love it. Great vid too mate

  • eventing is sooooo much fun i love it and all my friends say that is not a sport but i think they are sooooooo wrong it is one of the hardest sports i know!

  • eventing is the most demanding of all horse sports. it requires having a horse that can do the dressage, have the stamina and skills to do the x-country, and the patience and agility to do the jumping. And determination from both horse and rider. What I love about eventing is the feeling you get, especially going x-country: don't know about anyone else, but just before I go round the course, I think i'm going to hurl. when i've finished, i have such an adrenaline rush, and I want to do it again!

  • I'll have no idea until I try!

I want to event soo bad!!!

I guess It's going to be a long time till then though cus I just switched from 7 years of western and barrel racing to english

    Gotta love trying new things

  • @TheLovelyFail Barrel racing is hard, mann. Respect!

But I event too :) Five years. :)

Just got a new horse! Look out for us. ;) Training level this year! <3

  • sounds bad, but nice to see people saying, i can't handle it, ahah, im sick of cocky people who think its the easiest sport in the world, they don't know the pain and strength it takes to do this sport

  • no I cant.... ITS TO FREAKIN AWESOME AND SCARY AT THE SAME TIME!!!

  • I'm starting Eventing soon! Wish me luck! I can't WAIT!

  • no only do you have to be an amazing rider to do this, but you must have the BEST horse ever! i mean i know my horse couldn't just flip flop from dressage to fast-pased cross country! these horses and people are amazing!

  • its kind of addictive to watch...... lol :D

  • WHOAAA!!!!!! yea... um, i could't handle this!! i'd love to learn thoughhhh... i'm still trying to handle 3'6" in an arena!!!!! and my dressage is virtually nonexistent.........

  • Eventing looks so fun but i dnt do dressage neither does my horse

  • @KnG1Dakota either do i or my horse but i still event

  • my trainer is the one at 0:04 her name is sara and her horseys name is tonyy:) fun timeesss:)

  • Props from a cutter/barrel racer. I love what i do, but love to see what you can do too! Keep it up ;)

  • where do u get your clips from

  • dude we SO are! I compete prelim & aiming for Bromont! ADDICTED TO THIS CRACK called Eventing. & all the top riders are so nice when you meet them, love this sport! can't wait to try Rolex one day.

  • I want to be an eventer so bad! I'm in Pony Club and I have a thoroughbred but I'm still d2 :(

  • @arabiansarecool ignore the stupid pony cluber rules i did and im one of the best eventer riders in my state............ so if they say no listen them but follow what your heart and your horse says ad you might find your gonna end up better off

  • I take my hat off to these people and horses! My horse is a perfect all rounder (to me!) but we've had a rough beggining but looking at these people makes me look like a sap! x

  • i have to give you eventers some credit! im a hunter rider and my 4h club took our horses for an eventing schooling and mock trial. it's tough!! (but fun!)

  • Now that's a sport

  • I used to event with my gelding. Most amazing time of my life. Favorite event was cross country. We could go on for miles lol.

  • love the showjumping clip with the rider cam where did you get it from?? also love the second music song - whats it called?? xx

  • it is the BEST sport in the world!!! Theres nothing else like it!

  • is there any where u know of to practice cross countrey? YES i can hadle it its what iv always wanted to do

  • i am an eventer and i CAN handle it. i just started prelim level and i am qualified for cci 1 star! so for ppl who think this is not a sport umm u go try it and then come tell me how that went ok?

    awesome vid!!! <3

  • I'm a dressage freak through and through...though I admit I don't have the guts to jump, lol! What eventers do is beyond belief. Nothing but respect for them and their amazingly athletic mounts.

  • Eventing is the way to go. Nothing compares to galloping across a empty field knowing you are in complete control then flying up a bank, into water or over a table.

  • eventing is the greatest. we do it all!!!

  • @hrsjmpr how dare you! i swear if you followed me around an event and saw how my horse acts you would not say he gets confused he knows exactly whats coming, whats going to happen, and what he needs to do in each phase of the show

  • @hrsjmpr stop confusing our horses? what dicipline exactly do you do? eventing horses have to be able to pull off three extremely difficult phases and learn to successfully complete each one. they arrent confused...they are smart. they know what is asked of them and id absolutely love to see you pull off an event. =]

  • @hrsjmpr u shoudnt say stuff as stupid as tht its not right especaly as u probably cant do anything as what u saw on the vidd i cant and i hav been riding for 6yrs and it completly doesnt confuse the horse they will hav had years of training and eventers arnt jacks u twit they hav sooo much courage to run at fences that big and so much skill they are still alive on the over side !!!! god i bet u dont evan no 1 friken thing about horses or eventing just 2 sum the whole thing. up how dare you

  • @hrsjmpr You truely are a grade A moron.

  • @hrsjmpr The successful eventers are the ones that have mastered both jumping and dressage. It requires a higher degree of skill to negotiate x-country than just a jumper round, it also requires a higher degree of fitness from both horse and rider. The foundational principles of dressage have to be rock solid to have adequate controll of your horse through the higher levels of eventing.

  • @hrsjmpr Seems like you know your stuff... What exactly do you do? If you were right and the horses were confused and eventers never 'mastered' any particular discipline, how come there are so many event riders and horses out there? If you had ever attempted eventing yourself you'd know we are not 'a jack of all trades', we have to train three times as hard to achieve - show me your 'mastered' discipline, then try to comment. Imbecile.

  • @torabella yeah i agree with you both every eventing rider does have to speacitly but they can still do it al and you right we do train three times as hard as anyone else :) but thats because we've got three things to train instead of one

  • i hope I can. I am about to event at my first event and I'm soo happy. Wish me luck!

  • I love this .i love eventing. Hunters cant handle it

  • i event at training level! (: my horse was a driving horse that caused a ton of accidents so when i bought him he became an eventer! (: He is awesome at it, our stadium can use a little help he still tends to not listen but usually its my fault. He is a beast out on xc and dressage! (: Also he likes to go a little fast on xc so i get some time penalties!

  • theres no other feeling in the world like that first cross country run <3 : ] i event i should know...how dare some people say that not only is this not a sport but that its also not a team sport this goes out for all riders everywhere, how are you and your horse not a team!?

  • i lovee eventing:) its sooo much fun!

  • I like 5:31 :P

  • This is def. a sport. I have so much respect for them; jockeys also, Both risk their lives just doing what they do and eventers have so much talent! I could never get my butt up into an eventer's saddle- I can't believe people say that risking your life is /easy/. Mmhmmm. Sure.

  • i can handle it !! i event but i used to ahve a pony that hated jumping but i grew out of her she was awsome at games though now iv got a thoroghbred gelding doing Dand C at comps and B at home i love horse people even if they don't event but i have a lot of respect for Eventers! btw awesome video!!!

  • this is an awesome video!!!! luv it

  • i love eventing and respect eventers so much, but im too much of a pansy to ever move past prelim hah.

but damn these riders/horses are some amazing athletes. i love how when phillip dutton finishes his XC, he just jumps off and people immediately start taking care of his horse hehe

  • i am an eventer and i love the thrill of falling of banks lol!!! but my horse gets a little happy sometimes :P...it is the most amazing sport in the world..and the best bond you will ever have with your horse...i am PROUD to call my self an EVENTER!!!! :)

  • I event too and it is so hard and scary but i love it and the thrill :)

  • Who the hell says eventing isn't a sport? Next to endurance riding (Tevis cup anyone?), it's pretty much the hardest discipline in the equestrian world. People don't just get injured in eventing-they die thanks to solid, nailed fences in the XC fences. To compete at the peak, 4*, Olympics, World championships, the horse you've got to ride will have to be bursting with talent and is usually extremely difficult to control. I'm pretty sure tiny Pippa Funnell could break someone's neck w/ her thighs

  • This is awesome!!!! I totally agree, best sport out there bc you have the grace of dressage and the freedom of show jumping and the daringness of cross country and all together it makes a great sport!!!

  • I soo wish I could event, but I broke my back a while back, and have had lots of stomach surgeries and cant handle hard riding, but any true eventer is a real artist to me.

    So are their horses

  • ive competed at CCI** level and enjoying everytime i compete, ive had that many falls but never regret my decision that i chose eventing so i say to everyone that wants to try it go on you never know you may really enjoy it.

  • Hey that was fun. I was the outrider on the paint horse that spooked in the background.

  • I appreciate that you put dressage in here. So many eventing vids are just cross country and stadium.

  • Yep i'm a past rider .. Great to watch ..

Great skill and yes great athletics .

    Go 3rs

  • People who say eqyestrian isn't a sport are just jelous because they can't do it!

  • @TuckerFields

    SOOOOO true!

  • I am currently eventing intermediate and I really like this video!!! I was in a Phillip Dutton clinic for Young Riders not long ago, and he's actually a terrible teacher!! He was like "Take that jump. Ok bad. Take it again. Ok good. Go stand over there." He didn't ask what we wanted to work on or our names or anything!!! He's a great rider, not so much on the trainer end of it!

  • @mustluvhors3zzx I got to ride with Peter Gray, he's an amazing equestrian!!!! I learned so much in those 2 hours!

  • @montanarider13 Me too I wen't to one of his clinics and when I competed in Kentucky I got to talk to him a lot and hes great .

  • @breyerponies he loved my pony lol :D she's a little brat but she's a nice mover....he signed my pony club book XD

  • People in eventing aren't athletes...they're LEGENDS

  • @TheLegendjumpers You had me scared there for a minute, saying they aren't athletes. hahah. but i agree with you, they are LEGENDS!

  • @TheLegendjumpers So are the horses!

  • @TheLegendjumpers nar there both

  • @TheLegendjumpers athletes and legends I'd say!

  • omg!!!!!!!1 when people ask me what sports I do a say horse back riding! they say no thatS not a sport! Then I reply with realyy?? if you think its so easy you try it and call me when your in the hospital! because you cant multitask! We have to keep the horse moving stay on and stear who said its easy!!!!!! CHECK AGAIN!!!!!!!

  • i wish i could do even just really easy eventing but my horse has a past injury and can only work in short bursts of activity, not anything that requires stamina, even though he has amazing stamina!

  • I couldn't agree more!! Eventing is totally a mental and physical exhausting sport!

  • Always love watching 3day eventing might actually get a chance to do some eventing after college

Love the video by the way and couldn't agree more about eventing being a sport

most of the people who don't consider it one are the ones who don't know what it take to ride a horse

  • WOW im aneventer also and i love this vid!!

  • i dont event i do dressage and showjumping for fun but i just bought a throughbreed and in about 4 weeks im gonna start mine and my horses training for eventing!

  • I event and i reckon that if u show sum lower and higher levels then people can c the height that if they start what theyd b jumpin but still wicked vid

  • im going to start eventing i just watched "after the fall" on espn's website so i probly wont jump XC jumps over 2'6 till they make it safer lol

  • is not a sport lol it's sooooo much more! 3day eventing is good i still prefer showjumping but i do a few one day events every now and again!

  • no i cant' handle it!!! lol my horse is a show jumper but if you ever put him in a dressage ring or in a field full of solid jumps he'd have a heart attack and die XP I have soooooo much respect for eventers. They are truely the masters of horse sports!!

  • @bluefoxstudio13 thanx i get soooooooooo frusterated when people say it snot a sport!!!!

  • Ima three day eventer me and my horse dakoda i love her to death

PS I would like some horsey friends so we can talk horses

  • much more than a sport....

  • svenskryttare blogg se

  • ...its so much MORE than a sport!!!

  • man if i had one of those rider cam things... WOW i really want one! (:

  • my dressage is always bad ok once buck jump and rear are incorparated into it no i last once through it but was rather put off by my horse at cross country at bigger fences tend to close my eyes at one i decided to be brave and have a peek only to find my bloomin steed had his eyes closed too x

  • i love eventing so much:)

  • OMG I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS

  • when i get my horse i am going to start eventing and start learning about it but i have never done it before but it looks like soo much fun. great vid its one of my faves

  • well done

  • lol and the funny thing is; 1. we never win anything. cause Thunder throws me or decides hell just take a vaca. or Skipper and i go too slow. (hes fast enough. we just end up enjoying the ride too much and daydreaming!) but, alas, this tops everything: My little quarterhorses show up at a low level comp, where even the other competitors have big warmbloods! and theres me, with my fifteen-fifteen two hand horses! lol. s'all in good fun.

  • lol i have two eventers. One's a blast to ride -Thunder- but, LOL you have to keep with hm every second in the game, otherwise, he'll dump you. The other, -Skipper- is SUCH a joy to be on. XD i love them both, but Skipper holds a special place in my heart. I trained him myself, and we go in everything together. from a bit of x-country, to reining!

  • fking great

  • love the video, what are the two songs you used?

  • wats the song?

  • I'm the mother of an eventer, so avid spectator and one of those people you ALWAYS SEE as a jump judge, scribe, or other volunteer that keeps the sport alive. HAVE A GREAT RIDE!!!!

  • Lol, that's awesome EventerMom! My Dad barely knows anything about horses but he was there for every gymkhana writing times and scores for my group and is happy to lend a hand setting up jumps or be a cross country judge. My Dad is the best! :D
