This is you playing fantastic? Are you a music major? I currently just finished Rachmaninoff prelude in Gm (well almost) I think I might want to try this out, do you think it was hard?
its really good!!! youve really brought out the shining moments in this piece. i love it tremendously. its actually hard to find a bad recording of this piece. most players who try this piece are outstanding already.
Thanks for putting me straight on that Ellis! Perhaps you'd also like to write to Russian Music Publishing - publishers of my 2006 Urtext of the Etudes Tableaux - and tell them that they have got it wrong too?
Well... technically, yea. Whose really counting though? It's easier to think of it as No.4. A good performance, though, of a great work that doesn't get a lot of exposure.
Absolutely wonderful. I do admire how you didn't put a video of yourself playing; so many times on sites like these the music is blurred by the pathos of the performer's facial experessions. With your graphics, it's easier to focus on the beauty and skill of your performance. I prefer your version to any I've heard so far. Definitely, this is better work than I could hope to do in my lifetime. Excellent job.
Original fine and very lyric style of playing it. I love it VERY MUCH! It is so inusual for this piece, THANK YOU, waiting for MORE VIDEOS of Rachmaninov, Good Luck
Wow, you are amazing. At first I thought it was like Horowitz or Rachmaninoff himself playing it and then I looked and it was you playing it! You did sucha great job with this!
I'm glad I could make your day. If I played like that, I would want to take full credit for it. Your definitely deserve the recognition. This much talent obviously came from a lot of hard work.
Wonderful!! I listened to this several times before I read that it was not Rachmaninoff playing it. I've enjoyed Rachmaninoff's music for many decades, but it was not until the Richter documentary came out that I heard part of this piece. I'm glad to hear the whole thing played the way Richter played it. I wonder why this is not more popular, although it was played by the gold medal winner at the most recent Van Cliburn Competition. Anyway, thanks very much for posting this!
the combination of drama in the opening evolving into a singing dialectic of the parts is very note worthy, and worthy of any musician wishing to interprpret this piece(or listen to it, the slow(er) tempo than normal is justified in every respect. You have Good taste and a good interpretation.
I find the interplay of the different melodies or what you call the "singing dialectic of the parts" a really important element of this etude tableau. I really practised on bringing different melodies to the foreground. I am glad you noticed it.
Of course we notice. I found out 3 outstanding features of this interpretation: subtle and clear pedalling, well conceived voices leading and very natural and emotional pronunciation of the musical frases. Exceptional, mature playing, I don't want to exalt it, I want you go on and beyond with your strong qualities. Thank you
I think it is a beautiful piece with all these subtle voices which I wanted to highlight. I really studied on that. Basically, I am a big fan of Rachmaninoff's emotionalism: when I play one of his pieces, everything seems to fall into place as pieces of a puzzle. And I am going beyond. I am practising another piece of Rachmaninoff's. But it will take some time: I can only practise in the weekends when I am at home.
there are 3 videos about prelude 33-4 best one is Richters but its too short. this is my favorite after it. i think nknibbes is technically fine but your emotion is close to richters.
Thank you, it is quite a compliment to be compared with a great pianist such as Richter regarding the emotional aspects! I hope you like the technicality of the playing as well (although I do not match Richter's level of course). Keep on enjoying this piece! :)
Thanx for your comment!!! I think the lack of sonority has something to do with the fact that I recorded it too softly. I tried to change it, but to not avail.

You're fuckin good, man. I thought it was a pro recording at first.
Did you listen to Lugansky's by any chance? It sounds like you listened to that one.

This is my favorite song by Rachmaninoff, it's so.....Kirby Superstar. Rachmaninoff must have had a time machine to steal music from a video game.

Yeah, this is really good. Everything is so nice and clear, and the tonal quality is superb. Kudos to the pianist.

Well played! I love this is Etude. Is it pretty difficult?
IloveAlexisBledel689 3 years ago 3
I think the piece is as difficult as you would want it to make. To allow all the different voices to come to the fore, does take some practise.

Great interpretation! I study and love this piece.

I am impressed! Well played! This is a tricky piece to get right and a real struggle to master. Bravo!

well he IS the composer of the piece and a touring pianist at the time

I find it easier to record myself, but it also leaves little room for mistakes. Thank you, that you loved my performance.

This is an amazing recording. I too thought it was the composer playing himself, or Horowitz and the like. You really have some talent there!

Thanx for comparing me with these huge masters. I hope indeed I make Rachmaninoff and Horowitz at least a little proud.

Wow, you made like three compliments in one; Rachmaninoff is a great composer/pianist and Richter a great pianist. I feel honoured by your remark.

But you have alot of good aspects in your playing and alot of potential.
annabrook 4 years ago
You have rhythmic probelems in your playing and you lack sonority, improve those aspects and you could become a very good pianist.

Thanx for your comment!!! I think the lack of sonority has something to do with the fact that I recorded it too softly. I tried to change it, but to not avail.
