  • Interestingly, my dad let an aviary of about 50 lovebirds open back in 2004 around 59th avenue and beardsley. I wonder if that is what started it? I originally got 2 for my 16th birthday and he let them go when I told my parents I was engaged because I wouldn't be there to take care of them. Wished he asked me if I wanted to keep one or sell them in the newspaper though. At that time I was upset because I thought they would die.

  • They live in my neighborhood too! I love having them around.

  • I have a pair and they are so cute

  • We live in the Deer Valley area, NW Phoenix and we have been graced with three of these beauties! Love getting up around 6 AM so I can watch them. Sometimes there is only one. They do RULE the two feeders. The doves sparrows, etc. get out of the way for them. We have added more sunflower seeds to our mixture because they seem to like them. They are absolutely beautiful! Thank you for the video. I have taken afew pictures, but none good enough to post yet!

  • congratulations you have a free bird pet

  • Awesome. This solves our mystery. We live in Phoenix and we have been watching two of these come around our birdfeeders for a few weeks now, we had no idea what they were. We thought maybe somebody lost their pet birds. They are so beautiful. Thanks for sharing this.

  • aww .. so cute i would rather let them go than to put them on a cage

  • dont know if all you ppl know but about 120+ years or so there where parrots here in northern AZ look it up...

  • there are 3 to 7 around mill and university!!!

  • Love birds have been in the wold in Phoenix, Tucson and the SF Bay area for many years. Their native home has the same climate as the SW USA desert.

  • they were released (on purpose) from an aviary soewhere in pheonix and they survived succesfully in the wild, soooo....yeah. im soo excited!

  • do you clip their wings or do they just like it there?

  • Nope. They are wild. They live somewhere down the street in a palm tree. There are hundreds documented throughout Phoenix.

  • They remind me of mine peach face birds, Leves and Bodi.

  • I just loved to watch them free, it's so beautiful.
