  • @crazytubadude it came with the AutoMeter Gauges at the time, it was a complete kit. I'm sure you can get the cage separate. I'm sure I bought the kit from summit or jegs back in the day, I'm talking 10+ years ago. Do a search for AutoMeter Gauge Cage. Good luck.

  • Nice gauge set up, I'll be getting the 3 gauge pod that mounts up on the top cent of the dash, put that empty space to use

  • @BigBoyd06 thanks, and that's exactly why I like them too. They make a 3 guage cage also for that center vent, but it eliminates the vents then. I wanted to keep that functionality, it's slick.

  • @CalypsoNotch408 Well I was in your shoes once upon a time. Owned a couple other 5.0s that I "tinkered" with before settling on my 93 Cobra. They're great cars for budget minded rodders / modders and durable as hell in my experience. Good luck, let me know if I can help with anything.

  • I think you need a coupe more aftermarket gauges to make it faster. I put a complete set of Autometers in my BMW. Even a 5" tach and speedometer, mounted in the original locations. It made my little 2.5 straight 6 faster than a terminator. I don't need that supachaga to provide more go fast, I just POWERSHIFT! Vroom vroom!

  • @lunastorm1056 I don't know what you're getting at? Gauges don't make a car faster. Now a park bench sized double decker spoiler and under body neon lights, that's another story. Vroom vroom! I'm sure you already knew that though.

    Seriously, what are you getting at? Sounds like you have a problem with all TWO of my gauges. One of which is boost which is basically a given when dealing with boost.

  • @ibzzmn Vortech S-trim supercharger, Flowmasters, Pacesetter racing h-pipe, Hooker super comp equal length headers, 3.73 gears, hurst shifter. Entire engine from upper intake to oilpan are 100% stock, same is true for clutch and transmission.

  • Everyones talking so much fucking hype about this new mustang 5.0...i agree its time that fords 1999-2010 keep gettingt here doors blown off by 1998-2002 camaro z28's with the ls1 corvette motors. I grew up around 5.0's and i own a 6 speed ls1 camaro now..but let me just clear something up...it WILL NOT be faster then 2010 camaro ss's...plain and simple..and no matter what the z06 will whipe the floor with any 2010 cobra there coming out with..its a joke

  • plane45036, I love the LS1 powered camaro's. I own a 93 5.0. But you know the S197 is already 400lbs lighter than the 2010SS. It will have a better weight distribution, and will be on another level. The new 5.0 is going to be evil, and already someone is putting one in a notchback fox as we speak.

  • yea...the new mustang loses 14 horspower to the camaro ss and weighs 400 pounds less...itll be faster.

  • I would expect more expensive 6.2L cars to be faster then more affordable 4.6L and 5.0L cars.

    I just think the new 5.0 has a chance to be a bit different. A good balance of low end torque and high end HP. We'll see.

  • not really because it will be about the same, the new 5.0 makes 412 hp which rivals the Camaro and is said to hit 60 in around 4.6-4.8 seconds, so with a couple bolt-ons they would be very very close. Dont talk shit about cars that havent even come out yet. And no shit the Z06 will be faster....its a fucking Z06

    Ya but a 4000 pound pony car is NOT a pony car!!!!! This coming from a life time F-body guy. The new 5.0 will be a force to reckon with, but as with anything in the performance world, money makes them fast. Stone stock for stone stock, it will be a good matchup, as it should be!

  • @plane45036 the new 5.0 was rated with 412hp, and ford actually underrated that and they make 435hp. So combine that with the fact the mustangs are lighter, and youll find out that yes it will beat a 2010 camaro

  • @BLACKPOWER707 mustang has traction issues off the line like always. it is 3550 lbs, less tq but the lower weight makes up for it. caranddriver just did a test for both v6's and both v8's, mustang won both.

  • I love that hurst shifter. I think thats what it is isnt it? I have a hurst competition plus shifter in mine with the white ball, chrome shifter handle, and it says hurst down the side. Like i think yours does. I cant really see it that good tho.

    I may be in the market for a 93 Mustang in the future but for me it has to be an LX 5.0 automatic. I do a lot of long-distance highway driving to FL from VA and I simply can't have a manual. (I do know how to drive one though)

  • Nope, no plans to sell her. I've had her since about 1996 and god willing my kid(s) can have her some day. I suppose a sweet offer I couldn't pass up might come along, but I've turned down some solid offers and she has never been for sale. :)

    My first Mustang was an '89 Mustang LX 5.0 Convertible automatic. Sweet little car, still have the pictures.

  • @jimbl75 i had a custom tremec t5 with a short throw in my '98 and the shifter was covered in spikes, after an intense race my hand was bright red and spotted from the spikes lol, u have a vid of the exterior?

  • Yep, that's a Hurst shifter, and it's pretty noisy at higher RPMs. Love these old cars. :)

  • Like I said, I've seen some sweet 2.3's. Used to talk to a guy at the track that had one and it ran high 9's low 10's in the 1/4 mile. Problem was it ran on alcohol or some crazy shit like that and he was rebuilding it after every weekend at the track.

  • Actually I've seen some very cool and very fast 2.3 Turbo Mustangs. Problem is, generally reliability can be an issue when you start pushing the limits on that 2.3. I say do what is in your heart, I know that sounds cheesy...but if what you want is a 2.3 turbo that kicks ass, go for it. If you want the sound and torque of a V8 and a little tradition, go with the 302.

  • The biggest mod is a Vortech S-trim that maxes out at 8lbs of boost. Also have Hooker Super Comp equal length headers, Pacesetter racing h-pipe, Flowmasters, 3.73 gears, Hurst short throw shifter, Global West LCA's, and a few other odds and ends that don't do much for performance.
